We have been bringing our greyhound, Scarlett, to your practice since she was first rehome, many years ago, and more recently, our 5-year-old Saluki. Even though we live in London, it’s always worth the drive to visit you, whether it’s for a dental check-up, or a full health assessment as was the case last week. We have been with Pennards for five years with our shih tzu Bubbles, they have always been very helpful, friendly, accommodating and caring. She went to the puppy classes too which was great for her socialising We would definitely recommend this clinic, as well as Sevenoaks when Bubbles was neutered there

We have been very fortunate in having Pennards London Rd Tonbridge during the last 5 years; when our retriever of 9 months got hit by 2 cars , they suspended surgery and came out to assist, by good fortune he recovered from his serious injuries and subsequently he has received fantastic care as and when circumstance dictate. The entire team take a genuine interest in all of their pet clients and being a member of Pennards Club, the benefits are a bonus so I can only sing their praises which was not the case with our previous experiences at another Vet Practice who were found wanting when our late dog was in need of serious attention. So if in doubt do choose Pennards London Rd for your caring vetinary practice.

I have been using this veterinary practice for many years. I wouldn't trust my dogs with anyone else. The advice and treatment are always considered and thorough. The staff are polite and well organised and helpful with any enquiries.

Excellent, 5* all round. Empathetic, professional, knowledgeable, gentle and friendly. I called my usual surgery in Wadhurst, the receptionist and I agreed an appointment for the following day. About 10 mins later she called me back to say that she had spoken to a vet and their advice was to come earlier. I really appreciate the fact that she took it upon herself to seek out this information. I went to the Crowborough surgery. Jennie, nurse practitioner saw how nervous my dog was and went out of her way to befriend him. Our appointment was with Dr Evans who was extremely thorough in both her examination and advice. She was really kind and patient. Thank you Culverden Vets, Wilfred and I would not go anywhere else.

I want to say a heartfelt thank you to Matt Wilkinson from Culverden Vets in Wadhurst. Last week, we faced the heart-breaking decision to put our beautiful cat, Biscuit, to sleep. We are deeply grateful to Matt for being so calm and empathetic towards us during such a distressing time. This was the first time my husband and I had ever had to make this difficult decision, and Matt talked us through each stage with great care and understanding. Thank you for making a terrible time that bit better for two heartbroken people.

Just a quick review for Dr Birgit. We took our little 7 year old Chihuahua x Yorkie( Lily) to Birgit when she was diagnosed with advanced lung cancer. That was over 7 months ago and Lily is doing fine. Quality of life is excellent and shows no signs of deteriating. In fact She's as active and cheeky as ever. I think the outcome with a traditional vet would have been pretty poor and would have meant a lot of vet visits and separation not to mention some big bills. We have not been apart from Lily once and could not be more pleased with her treatment and of course the fact that she is still with us and doing so well. Thank you Birgit. You are wonderful.

Flynn, my 13 month old labrador, had a retrobulbar abscess caused by a foreign body that got into his system. We tried conventional specialist treatment (CT scan/investigative surgery/ultrasound etc) but the swelling kept reappearing. Birgit brought together a mix of Chinese medicine, homeopathy, plant/herbs and acapuncture which over a period of only a week reduced the swelling and saw Flynn move towards his old self. Probably the foreign body dissolved itself we cant know but his system was strengthened by her work to enable him to deal with it himself. Birgit's wonderful way of working with animals meant that he was able to be confident and cooperative with her - she really went that extra mile - especially through those early danger days - helping me to feel supported and know Flynn was having the best treatment for him by a wonderful vet.

In late September 2023 my Labrador sustained what I thought was an injury to his lower back. He was very distressed and in a lot of pain. Naturally I rushed him to the vets and after a couple of weeks on anti-inflammatory and pain relief drugs he wasn't better. We were referred to specialist vets for scans, MRI's and tests to discover he had a degenerative condition called IVDD (bulging discs). Treatments were offered but all of them were invasive, carried huge risks and crazy expensive with no guarantee of success. He was also on very limited exercise which, any Labrador owner would know is very hard to manage because as a breed they need lots of exercise! After researching his condition and looking at alternative treatments I started taking him to hydrotherapy which is where I was recommended Birgit. Being keen to avoid surgery/invasive treatments and the damaging effects of him taking long term drugs I contacted her and we began our journey of acupuncture, Chinese herbs and homeopathic treatments. Birgit has been incredible, she has worked her magic and as I write this today I have a healthy well exercised Labrador not needing surgery, invasive treatment or drugs. I honestly can't recommend Birgit enough, we are both so grateful and I will ALWAYS champion the holistic route for any of my pets health needs. Birgit, we both thank you so much, you are so very special to us.

I cannot thank Birgit and her incredible team enough for the care and support they provided for my beloved dog, Blue. From the very beginning, Birgit’s holistic and natural approach to veterinary care was exactly what I had been searching for. Blue was a truly special dog—a beautiful soul who brought immense joy to our lives and touched the hearts of everyone who met him. He wasn’t just our pet; he was family, and in many ways, he rescued us as much as we rescued him. Birgit and her team gave us precious extra time with him, and for that, I will always be grateful. I highly recommend Birgit and her team to anyone looking for compassionate, expert care for their pets. Ian did an amazing job operating on our old lab/retriever. We were concerned about the GA with his age, but the op could not be avoided. All went smoothly, aftercare was great. Dog now looks like he’s at least a year younger. Having been at a large vet chain previously we couldn’t believe how incredibly reasonably priced the whole thing was - despite need for anaesthetic, drain, antibiotics, pain relief and follow up appointments to check him out and then later remove the stitches.Highly recommend.

Had to make the difficult decision to have my dog put to sleep, I return to this practice in Crowborough after having left, best choice I made for my beloved Bella. Staff were amazing from reception to vet (phil) Especially helpful with my disabled husband gaining access to be there 👏

Have brought one of my cats, Claude, to Culverden Vets a couple of times now on the recommendation of a friend and am very happy with the care and service provided by the whole team there. All staff were friendly and understanding and gave a genuine impression that they cared about the welfare of Claude. Would definitely recommend.

I have just taken my challenging cat for her yearly vaccinations. This is normally a very stressful appointment with her being held down by towels. Today, Mr Duncan Mitchell expertly held her in a way that allowed the vaccination to be administered without upsetting her. I was very impressed and couldn’t recommend this vets more. Thank you!

We’ve had such kind, professional care for our poorly cat, over several weeks of his investigations, surgery and subsequent complications. All of the vets, nurses and reception staff that we’ve dealt with have been very compassionate. While the reality is that veterinary care is not cheap anywhere, we feel lucky to have such a great independent vet’s practice to look after our much loved pets. All our cats, guinea pigs and hamsters have been patients here for over 30 years and we wouldn’t go anywhere else.

My Bloodhound stole and ate 2 large mince pies. I contacted Portland at East Grinstead, a totally professional member of staff answered the phone and recognized the serious nature of the situation. She made an immediate appointment and asked me to come in now. The short version is these vets know what they are doing, the staff we saw were outstanding. The Vet was one of the best I have come across, super knowledgeable and genuinely cared. I have no reservation about recommending this vets to anyone, without compromise they saved my dog from being seriously ill. Watson and I thank you all

I had to use the out of hours service for the first time. I was greeted by a new lady kalli who quickly re assured us that Bambi would be ok and checked her all over and gave us the medication and info about her injury and put us all at peace and mind without a worry. She did amazing keeping us calm while treating another dog at the same time. Was just impressed how quick and easy from start to finish at such a late and distressing time for us. She’s was brilliant. Hope you continues to stay with Portland vets as long as she can.

After an awful experience at another vets, Alfie needed alot of reassurance to gain confidence in being vaccinated. Veterinary Nurse Sophie, spent lots of time on seperate visits to gain his trust and his confidence returned enough today to be vaccinated by Abi, who also was amazing with him! Good job girls.

Friendly, kind members of the veterinary practice. We registered our puppy recently having been highly recommend by close friends. We have been very happy so far with the friendly team. They are happy to give advice over the phone without unnecessary appointments. Their kindness & compassion is evident, as at the reception desk there is a little (battery not flame!) candle which is lit when a sad situation with another pet owner and their pet may be taking place. For others to show respect. Little things like this stand out. We were previously registered at another practice. Having lost our beloved family dog, with to many painful memories there, we decided to register with this practice.

We can’t praise this vets highly enough, we had to take our dog there after she cut her leg badly, they were so caring towards her and treated her immediately. They kept her calm and looked after her and the staff there are truly amazing. Thank you!

I want to say a massive thank you to all the reception staff and vets—you are all absolutely wonderful. I have an XL Bully who has needed some extra TLC with ongoing health problems, and I must say this veterinary practice has truly gone above and beyond to help him. Non judgemental about my dog after all the abuse the breed now gets thanks to our corrupt government and their stupid ban!! They made my dog feel very welcome 🤗 A special mention goes to a staff member who even offered to bring in a ramp from her loft so that my dog could get in and out of the car without hurting himself, as I couldn’t afford to buy one. This incredible gesture of kindness meant so much to me, and I really wanted to acknowledge it. The team here is warm, friendly, and incredibly welcoming. They make everything easier, from providing excellent care to allowing me to get repeat prescriptions without unnecessary consultations or extra fees. I highly recommend this practice—it stands out compared to another big vet nearby, where the focus seemed to be more on profits than genuine care. Thank you all again for everything you do!

They are a really good vet. I found a golf ball size abscess on my dog. It was 6.45pm but they stayed open for me..I arrived and the vet was fantastic..so were reception staff. He explain everything in detail considering this was a Friday night. He didn't rush us through. Sassy is on antibiotics..and the vets advice to bathe it worked as it ruptured and she seem out of discomfort now. Best vets ever. She still looks a little sorry for herself bless.
