We went there yesterday as a group of 15 and they were absolutely brilliant. We had the skittle alley to ourselves so the kids could play with the selection of toys in there which worked perfectly. We had a variety of meals across the table and everyone said how delicious it was. The pork belly bites as a starter were a definite stand out. Thank you to all the lovely team who served us.

I have driven past this pub on more occasions than I could probably mention and always said must try that one. Well today was the day and so pleased that I did! I can honestly say this was one of the best (if not the best) pub food I have ever had. Our table of four all had different dishes and every single one was outstanding quality with a generous portion. Personally I opted for the ploughman's asking for it without the meat element which wasn't a problem at all. An excellent selection, fresh and tasty. I would highly recommend booking, even for lunch, as it was busy, and it's really not surprising why. The service was friendly and a good pub atmosphere made it a great experience and all at a fair price too. This will most definitely not be the last visit to this highly recommended Dorset pub. If you haven't been then add it to your 'must visit' list, but don't leave it as long as I did.

A Dorset gem. I've only ever had the Sunday Carvery here because it's fantastic value (£14.50) and absolutely delicious. I always end up asking for a box so there is bubble and squeak to go home with! The staff are great and friendly. I'd say this is a proper pub and Sunday lunch experience! Booking very much recommended they are popular.

The pubs staff were friendly and funny, not just robots and also not too cheeky it becomes weird. The portions were the size youd give yourself at a buffet. The price was fine. And the menu had a decent selection. I had the pie and it almost had more stake than my girlfriends ribeye. Highly recommend.

We had drinks, dinner and then stayed over in our motorhome and it was absolutely wonderful! The food was exceptional, the service was excellent and the pub and beer garden are great. We were made to feel very welcome and would definitely recommend!

Christmas meal. The portions of vegetables were mean, but the presentation and food were good. There was a weird bit with the bill but the on duty staff were very good.

(We didn't stay - merely went for a celebration meal.) The food was really excellent, the service friendly and efficient, and the hotel's restoration after its long period of disuse could not be more sensitive. The bar and restaurant areas are simply beautiful!
Rating: 5 / 5
Best place to have a few Christmas pints with friends. Very cosy seating areas with sofas next to the fire place. Reasonably priced beer (£4.80 ish) for a pint of Butcombe, very good quality / price!

If you are looking for a change from the usual humdrum Prem Inn Travelodge that seem to be taking over most town centres then this exquisette steeped in history creaky floored no room the same Hotel is for you. Refurbished to an excellent standard whilst retaining the period features. Staff were very friendly and helpful from the 2 receptionists we met to the lady running the restaurant to the bar person to the excellent chef we really couldn't fault it. Our evening meal in the restaurant was delicious and breakfast the next morning cooked to order much nicer than buffet style hot foods from above mentioned hotels. Thank you to all the staff we met who couldn't do enough for us and really topped off an excellent stay.

I dont leave many reviews for things; but have been meaning to write this one for a while. Came for a Sunday roast a few weeks ago and can honestly say it was one of the nicest roasts I've ever had. We chose the Kings Arms after previously visiting a sister hotel in Shaftesbury and very much enjoying our meal there. The service was excellent, with attentive but not overbearing staff, the food is delicious and the portion sizes were great. The prices arent cheap, but i felt that i got an experience that justified the price charged. Would thoroughly recommend.

We always like to try out a new pub for a Sunday Roast and came across this little gem. Based on their menu and google ratings, we decided to book. We had their new Sunday roast sharing board (there was 3 of us) and it was amazing. The amount of meat on it is well worth the money. Perfectly cooked pork belly, beef and chicken leg. And of course being greeted by the beautiful collie who led us to the front door ☺️ We will definitely be back and will highly recommend! Great pub, very friendly and attentive staff, great food!

We found this wonderful place after being at Minterne House and Gardens. Lovely village pub. Fantastic service, offered toys for my kid. Really lovely food. Great selection of drinks. Will definitely be returning.

My niece had her wedding here and the place was fantastic. Food for the event was brilliant and innovative. We also had Sunday lunch which was fabulous. Camping on site and lots of Airbnb in the area. Three cottages right next to pub with access through the gardens.

Fantastic, quiet beautiful campsite. Very clean site and clean toilets and shower block. Utensil washing area. Fire pits and wind breaks available to hire. Lovely campsite wardens, lovely friendly staff and hosts. Amazing food. 10mins drive to Cern Abbys brewery. Definitely recommend.

Absolutely amazing couple of days camping at the gaggle_of_geese_pub in Dorset. Cannot recommend this place enough. Loads of facilities for families. Double decker bus kitted out with soft play for kids. Pigmy goats and a small sports pitch. The campsite had warm showers, clean toilets. Pub served excellent food and beers. Will 100% be going back there. 📍 Gaggle of Geese Pub, Buckland Newton, Dorset

Stayed as a group of 6 for a walking weekend in October 2024. Very helpful and clear on booking as 2 large dogs were coming as well. Parking good and close to rooms. Very warm and helpful welcome. Rooms very clean, fluffy white towels and plenty of hot water. Nice tea/coffee/ biscuits in room and readily topped up. Food EXCELLENT with choice for all taste's, specials menus, good friendly helpful table service and great wine list. Fab stay and we will all come again. Thank you

A quintessential English pub in a beautiful location. Fantastic service from friendly, helpful staff. The long term chef is passionate about the menu and is more than happy to openly discuss the recipes with you. Whether you are calling in for a pint of ale, straight from the barrel, for dinner or staying in one of the beautiful rooms, you can be assured of having an experience that you remember and will look forward to returning.

We had a fabulous one night stay here, what a beautiful part of the world. The room was excellent, rainforest shower and huge bathtub, comfy beds, spotlessly clean. We had dinner in the evening and food was just perfect, every dish was mouth-wateringly tasty. The breakfast was very very good, fresh sourdough, good coffee and a non greasy fry up! Highly recommend.

This was a very good place for a family celebration lunch for 12, including 3 children. My parsnip was inedible, but the roast beef was delicious. Our 3 vegetarians said their squash wellington was delicious. Leanne and Ben were very helpful in accommodating us. It is the fourth time I have had lunch at the pub and it has always been good.

Really friendly welcome from all the staff. We didn't stay here, just a quick visit as we were in a shepherds hut down the road. Nice village pub with a lovely friendly feeling. The beer garden was good and the feedback from lunchtime was positive from all the customers. Definitely worth a visit.

Just had lunch at the Brewers Arms , fantastic food, brilliant Landlord and friendly staff , the best pub I’ve been in for years. I’ll definitely visit again when next in the area .

A really lovely pub in a beautiful village. Friendly, helpful staff, a sweet courtyard garden, plenty of seats inside and out, clean toilets. The food was good (especially the chips) but the best thing was the Chocolate Frozen Dream dessert. Definitely a pub we'll return to.

Went for a Mexican and half price cocktails on a Wednesday evening. Mexican is cooked in a van in the car park, but served in the bar/conservatory - excellent food (real cutlery but takeaway boxes).

A stellar experience. Lovely service from the team, who clearly are passionate about what they do. The steak I had was maybe the best I have ever been served - a lovely cut and cooked perfectly. Just a great experience.

Really well looked after when they were busy with a birthday tea party. Delicious cream tea in a beautiful garden. Excellent staff. Made really welcome. Looks a pleasant place to stay too.

On arrival, after making a online booking, we were nearly turned away as staff said there was no reservations in our name, we had to prove it was booked from our online correspondence. Staff then found us a table, but advised us we had to go because that table was booked out at a certain time. We had our main meal, but didn't have a desert as we would have outstayed our welcome, only to find that upon leaving most of the restaurant was practicly empty, very disappointing. Apart from the above, the food and service was very good.

What a lovely place! We stayed here for 1 night. The room was so cozy and clean, the shower was fantastic. Sunday roast dinner and bread pudding after were absolutely delicious. Continental breakfast in the morning, which was free, had a great variety and assortment of yummy things. The stuff was very courteous and pleasant. Highly recommend!
Rating: 5 / 5
Lovely place, nice spacious rooms with air conditioning, decent telly and comfortable bed. Very clean and tidy, with a nice powerful shower. I really had to dig deep to find any fault with the place, and the only thing I did find wrong was that the toilet roll holder was was a bit loose. The continental breakfast had a good range of food, and was a nice way to start the day.

Just had a two night stay here at this beautifully presented pub/b&b. Staff were friendly and helpful, always polite. Room was clean and had everything we needed. It’s on the train line which doesn’t feel intrusive. The food was really nice in the evenings (didn’t eat lunch there), we were a big group one evening and there were two small issues but they were sorted. The first morning, arrived to breakfast and it wasn’t ready and staff didn’t know why, they quickly sorted it out tho. The only downside for us was breakfast, as there is no hot option.

My bestie Jane and I visited Moreton church, a beautiful tranquil place. We decided to be ladies that lunch and stopped at the Frampton Arms where we had a lovely lunch. The pub has a charming atmosphere, where the staff are chatty, friendly and our food was delicious and at a reasonable price, well worth a visit.

Amazingly friendly staff, they made such an effort to make me and especially my little one feel welcome. The food was very good, my little one said she really liked the seasoning on the chicken so the owner so kindly showed her pictures of where she grows it and cut her off a little piece to take home. A hard act to follow at home now it's her favourite meal 😅 will definitely stay again soon.

Gorgeous location, really quiet & relaxing. Room was lovely! Could use another pillow for the bed but I tend to take mine when I travel anyway so it was no bother to me! Food was delicious & all the team working there and super friendly & helpful. Was a pleasure to stay for a night and I absolutely would go back.

Had great long weekend here for an 80th birthday and could not have asked for more. You have the entire pub to yourself including a fully equipped industrial kitchen, many different inside seating areas, outside seating with BBQ and fire pit, plenty of parking, four good sized ensuite bedrooms and much more. Thoroughly recommended, hope to go back again in the not too distant future

Very warm and welcoming dog friendly village pub. Spent a weekend here in November, pub has a good atmosphere with friendly staff. The room was clean, large, and really cosy. Dinner menu is varied and the food really good. Breakfast ... full English will keep you going all day. If you bring your dog then thereis good walking directly from the pub. This is a really nice place to stay and I look forward to the opportunity to visit again.

Seven of us just had a great long weekend at The Piddle Inn. You get the back of the pub all to yourself including a fully fitted kitchen, 4 bedrooms a massive lounge and a separate dining room. We also had a back garden to sit in as the weather was so nice. The property is a work in progress and not perfect but has that typical olde English feel. Our second year and we will be back again.
Rating: 5 / 5
We stayed for three nights and were very happy. Our room was bigger than we imagined and The River Piddle was just outside our window. The hosts were fabulous, the food and drinks were lovely and the locals were also friendly. We did two fairly long walks in the beautiful surrounding countryside which we found on the village website. If you fancy staying in a characterful Inn with gorgeous surroundings you can't go wrong.
Rating: 5 / 5
Perfect stay! We had Room 2, and had a lovely view of the river and fields across the way! The room itself was big, as was the bathroom with bath and shower! The bed was very comfy too! As you can expect from a Inn it does get busy and quite noisy in the evening, especially at closing time when you're in bed and trying to sleep but what do you expect? The room/view itself is perfect so it didn't matter to us at all! The landlady was brilliant, hardworking, and friendly! The evening meals and drinks excellent and great value (Cheap!!) And the Breakfast was excellent too! What a lovely place to stay! We will be back one day! 👍👍👍
