We were in this afternoon for a coffee and a cake which were both lovely. Staff were attentive and friendly for the whole time we were there, thank you. Unfortunately we were witness to an incredibly rude and disrespectful customer who clearly took her personal frustrations out on a young member of staff, which was completely uncalled for. So, we wanted to let the staff members know that not all us customers are like that, and give praise where it’s due - we had a great time and we’ll certainly be back again in the future. Thanks for having us.

Unfortunately I can't leave a comment directly on the last review (which I decided to look out for as I had a feeling it was coming) - but I can counter it with my own. I was in the shop at the time of the incident described by the last reviewer and I can tell you it was without question the most vile and unpleasant treatment of a server by a customer I've ever witnessed. I actually did hear every word of the entire exchange, the customer was completely out of line and the staff member did nothing that was deserving of the level of abuse she received. It really takes a lot to compel multiple other people to break off from their own food and conversations to try and get another customer to leave - so that should tell you everything you need to know about just how bad it was. If I conducted myself that way as an adult woman, I would be humiliated too - hopefully enough to take a long hard look at myself and consider how my behaviour might impact those around me. I just want to commend the server in question who, despite being understandably shaken, managed to maintain her composure and remained calm and considered in the face of some very nasty and inappropriate behaviour. I also want to commend the owner for standing by their staff in light of the inevitable review - as a customer I can tell you, we're not always right! Your staff were spot on today and are a credit to you. And since this is a review, the food here is invariably excellent. You really can't fault it - hot, fresh and delicious every time and really generous portions! The breakfast was perfect, sausages are so good, crispy hash brown, amazing toast, great quality bacon, fluffy scrambled egg. It's also one of very few places that does a decaf mocha that actually tastes great, good decaf coffee and rich chocolatey flavour. If I HAD to be critical, wait times can be a bit on the longer side but it's a small kitchen and a busy place - however, the atmosphere is nice and the food is worth the wait. I am so sorry that you guys had to deal with that today - it was so uncalled for that it bordered on downright bizarre. But thank you for a great brunch, we will most certainly be back!

Since this is my first time visiting this place, I thought I would share my experience. Nice clean place, with a relaxing atmosphere, did have a slight difficult ordering my food due to my speech implement, but the person who was serving me was patient and polite. The food was excellent and lovely. The only down side, was the parking, but lucky a friend showed me where to park. All in all, definitely recommend visiting 'The Old Bank Coffee & Wine'.
