Bread & Bean

37 Junction Rd, Archway, London N19 5QU, UK | Coffee Shop
P: 020 7263 0667

Rating: 4.5 (538) Price Level:

Great filter coffee, friendly staff, nice atmosphere. I think the price was a bit high: £15.10 for avocado toast and filter coffee (see photo). At that price I wish the quantity were a bit larger, or the bread weren’t soggy, or the layer of avocado a bit thicker. I was surprised that I was charged more than the prices on the menu: a 12.5% service charge was added when I paid even though I ordered at the bar. I wish they would just put the final prices on the menu.

This cafe has lovely food and the kindest staff - the best spot in Archway for coffee and hefty sandwiches and good prices. They were able to fit our group in very quickly including our toddler - we all left very happy and will definitely be back! Can’t recommend enough.

Revisited mid week morning. Good breakfast offers and quick service. Well priced and tasty. Visited Sunday morning. Decent corner coffee shop / restaurant. Limited space inside and few tables outside. Very reasonably priced for the location. Food was OK and in good proportion. Service was efficient but not too friendly.

Went there for coffee and breakfast. The place was cosy with a nice vibe, and the service was generally good. We ordered french toast, pancakes, coffee and tea. The quality was good and plates were delicious, although were too sweet for me.

I took my wife out for brunch for her birthday, and everything at La Masseria was fantastic. It was cute and cozy. The food was amazing and so was the service from Alaa. Once he found out it was my wife’s birthday, he even brought out a muffin on the house, which was such a nice touch. We’re already looking forward to coming back with friends and family. Highly recommend this place to everyone!

Half Cup

100-102 Judd St, London WC1H 9NT, UK | Brunch Restaurant
P: 020 8617 7835

Rating: 4.5 (2481) Price Level:

Excellent food, service was good but with systems down, it took a long time for even the coffee drinks to come out. The Oreo french toast was phenomenal, waffles amazing and the English breakfast very good. Careful with the chai drinks, extremely spicy, but good flavor. Servers were very nice, but could not out-nice the frustration with how long the kitchen took to prepare drinks and food. We arrived at open and it was packed, which is always a good sign, but I recommend asking if the systems are up and running before actually sitting down.

Family was visiting London and looking for a good breakfast. Everything very fresh and well presented. We sat outside in front. Service was great. My kids ordered the pork belly which was good but not as moist as desired. The rest of the food was good. Scrambled eggs a must.

Love LOVE love LOVE!!!!! The food was really fantastic here, brilliant brunch. Wasn't a fan of the coffee but I think it just comes down to personal taste re roast of beans. Also they are pretty fast here, which was very much APPRECIATED!

Its a great place to have a brunch with friends or couple, very close to St Pancras station, it was full of travellers as its quite convinient for them too. Remember you need to queue outside but its quite fast, it took 5’ for us. The place is very cosy and the food was very good and decent quantities. They should review the coffee quality, we did not like it. The price 25£ pp. Service was nice with us and we stayed there all time we needed. Its a bit noisy but worthy to visit! We will come back!

Passing Time Cafe

We often go to Chester-le-Street from North Shields just to dine at the Cafe as Allison, Paul, Neil and staff are so friendly and welcoming. The menu, which we have sampled quite a few variations of are excellent. The scones are so gorgeous we always bring some home with us. It is a fantastic experience.

Second breakfast in here and the latest was every bit as good as the first. Came highly recommended and didn’t disappoint. Full English again, quality food and perfectly poached eggs. Not a trace of grease anywhere. Lovely thick proper toast and butter pats supplied. Tasty coffee and nice friendly staff. I have seriously tried every establishment in Chester that sell full English and this is the best imo. Will certainly try the rest of the home made food menu.

Olive & Bean

17-19 Clayton St, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 5PN, UK | Cafe
P: 0191 233 0990

Rating: 4.4 (1098) Price Level:

Cute place and sweet waitresses! The interior was nice. We sat upstairs which was a lot calmer than downstairs. We had the chai tea latte which was really tasty. For food we ordered the eggs Benedict, a salmon bagel and the pumpkin chorizo soup. The eggs Benedict were great. The bagel was nice, but simple in terms of flavour. The soup was interesting, it was tasty. The only thing I would change about it is adding in the bits chorizo after blending the soup. Overall a cute place, would recommend!

Such a lovely little cafe in Newcastle. I was impressed to learn they collaborated with Teapigs to make the Apple and cinnamon tea, which is delicious! The cakes from here are nice and freshly made - I miss having them, so recommend if you can. Not sure if they do coeliac friendly gluten-free cakes. It is quite a pricey cafe, but pleasant with nice staff.

The service at this café was absolutely lovely , everyone was so sweet and welcoming. It wasn’t busy, and I even caught the staff singing along to a tune and having a little dance, which was such a joy to see. As for the food, the bacon was fantastic, so crispy and full of flavour. However, the hollandaise sauce wasn’t to my taste, which is rare for me. I also wish they had matcha latte on the menu, but sadly, that wasn’t an option. Overall, a charming spot with great vibes, but a couple of small tweaks could make it even better!

It was a great find for breakfast just before leaving after a wonderful few days in Newcastle. Situated on the outside of the Grainger Market, the staff were friendly and welcoming. Good quality produce efficiently served up in a nice atmosphere... even with the baby-friendly creche-like nature of this timed visit!

I was introduced to the olive & bean in 2022, and since then, I've become a loyal fan of theirs each time I return to Newcastle to visit my son. The wraps, toasties, soup, cake, and drinks are all delicious. Between our family, I think we may have tried a good variety of toasties and wraps. We have our favourites, of course, but all of them hit the mark. Thank you all for making our meals so good and allowing us to enjoy family time together. Service is always lovely 😍 👌

Great coffee and food. I’ve loved this place since I moved here 10 years ago but what was exceptional was the service from our waitress Roda who was incredibly kind, friendly and attentive when we needed to customize our orders. She’s probably the best server I’ve ever had- she made our visit on this occasion extra special :) I would highly recommend the grilled cheese, I had the breakfast burrito which was also delicious but it was premade so hard to customize. It gets busy at peak hours so expect to queue. Hope to come back soon and try more things on the menu!

Great café with a clean, modern aesthetic. Friendly staff, and tasty coffees. It wasn't clear from signage and lack of menus on tables that food was available - I only mention this because it'd be a travesty if a hungry visitor missed out on the incredible food... For breakfast, I had the huevos rancheros and my wife had the veggie breakfast. It was a real cut above most breakfast/brunch places - thoughtfully prepared dishes, beautifully presented. It's our second trip to The Grind in two days, after visiting the Covent Garden branch yesterday for lunch - what higher praise could I give?!

Wonderful little cafe/bar, we arrived at around 2pm so it was quite quiet which was nice. Ordered the sweet potato cake which was delicious but a bit small for £12. The 2 for 1 cocktails were on so we got a Daquiri each which was also nice and a good deal. The coffee's here are the cheapest I've seen in the busy parts of London. Servers were all polite and made our time there very peaceful and enjoyable.

Came for the thanksgiving set menu and was very pleasantly surprised that it was all very reminiscent of the thanksgiving flavours. However the cornbread is not what we expected the cornbread to be… they were essentially dinner rolls baked with corn flake cereal on them - only disappointing part of the meal. But everything else was spectacular (especially the pumpkin pie)
