An amazing carvery, Martin and his team so friendly, we hadn’t booked turned up and just had to wait for a table but we’ll worth the wait, I just can’t recommend this enough one the best carvery we have had excellent value for money.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO EVERYONE! The food is incredible, proper homemade food! Best Sunday dinners we have had in a long time. The puddings are delicious! Price for dinner & pudding is excellent value. Dog Friendly which is amazing. Overall experience was fantastic! We will definitely be back. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I can’t rate this place highly enough. What fantastic staff, every single one of them. Had an excellent Sunday lunch here, great value and lovely food. My portion was so big I had to take my pudding home for later. Dog friendly and GF opinions.

Ordered the Chicken Liver Parfait for starters with the Ballotine of confit duck for main. Greats hosts with even greater food. Possibly the best dish I have eaten out, if this was my local I would be coming here at least once a month for the confit duck. Come here for a chef with outstanding knowledge on food prep and flavours and friendly and formal staff.

After reviewing restaurants within this area, The Prince of Wales reviewed very well. We were not disappointed. There is a good selection of starters and not the general pub selection. I had risotto and my wife had pigs cheeks. Both were first class. We then had a Hand Made Beefburger each. The burgers were fantastic. One of the best burgers I have had for a long time. It was just like eating a steak sandwich. Would I go again and recommend. Definitely. If you like my reviews please follow me, as I regularly review.

We had a beautiful and delicious lunch. The staff was very nice and made us feel welcome. The food was creative and really really good.

After a 6.5 dog walk me and my wife called in for some much deserved food. The staff are very friendly and attentive. We had starters and then my wife had the burger and I had the rib eye steak. The food was truly delicious and would highly recommend to others. What a nice way to spend our 16th wedding anniversary. Would definitely eat there again

A fantastic place next to the river and pay and display car parks. Lots of seating inside and some tables outside. But I recommend you book as it was very busy, on a Saturday evening, we just managed to book a table in the dog friendly part at 8pm, that's booking the 2 days prior. Great food, very large portions. I had asparagus & pea risotto with coats cheese and it was delicious. My partner had vegan sausage and mash with vegan gravy and loved it. Definitely worth a visit. Next time we'll try the pizza's and a dessert.

I visited The Woodyard for the first time today with my Gran who is quite a fussy eater. There was lots of options on the menu catering to all needs including Vegan and allergies. They had a Sunday menu for roast dinner with a smaller option for OAPs/Kids. I had the sweet & spicy chicken burger which was amazing. It came with onion rings which were the best I’ve ever tasted. The place was warm, welcoming and the staff were super friendly. I will definitely be visiting again and recommending to other people.

The main course and flatbread was really good but the soup could have been a bit better. Adele , our host is a gem. One of the best and friendly host I came across after a long time. She deserves a 5* rating and hence we gave a decent tip as well. It was busy on a Sunday evening and quite lively.

Came here for dinner tonight with our family and it was perfect! Our host was really friendly and funny, and he was really attentive to us. He recommended dishes and was polite and genuine when talking to us. The food was spot on; we had a real variety of main courses (linguine, soup, pork, salmon, Korean chicken) and 4 desserts between us. Atmosphere in the restaurant was very relaxed, and the decor was great. It was such a good evening. Would definitely recommend to everyone!

Amazing food! Was a quiet Monday night so was nice and quick service. Everything so fresh and very well presented! Will definitely be back when next in Bakewell Clam chowder, crab and pork belly to start. Couldn't pick the best between them they were all that good. Mussels and steak for mains. Had our wedding meal here on Saturday and Louise and the team went above and beyond ! As a new restaurant and being out of the country when organising I couldn’t have asked for more and instantly trusted Louise who was enthusiastic and completely understood what we wanted ! She was the best host we could have asked for! The food was impeccable - the chef is outstanding and absolutely nailed the menu! Thank you to the whole team ❤️

First experience in this place . Very nice atmosphere. We was very hungry and had a hand to choose food . Had oysters, scallops ,bread plate ,filled crab, ,and soft drinks . Will come again,food,location and hospitality was great 🎉🥳🥰❤️. (Not a lot of pictures ,because we was way too hungry )🤣

Excellent small hotel, with stunning views and great walks from the door. Friendly staff and good pub food. Sit outside on a sunny afternoon, with a pint, and just look at the view. It's all about the location.

Went for an evening meal. Food was very good, portions very generous. Was particularly impressed that my scampi arrived with a large side of both broccoli *and* green beans. Thank you.

We had lunch at Charlie’s today, the previous reviews are very accurate. Menu had an Extensive range to choose from. Food fantastic, hot and well presented. Service friendly and impeccable . Great ambiance and certainly plan to return.

I was really surprised by this find, worth a detour from Chatsworth or other trips in the area to find great homemade food that feels a cut abovs the rest. It had the atmosphere of a cage but the food is that of a good bistro, with a substantial specials board. We struggled to make a choice as there was so much good food on the menu. For info: we made friends with Hettie, a placid and gentle dog who is nonetheless interested in everyone and their food. If you don't like dogs this might be an inconvenience.

Stopped in on the off chance, had aan Egg Mayonnaise sandwich, nicest I have tasted, with big chunks of back bacon, on granary, nice side garnish too. All the food looked good. Good menu something for everyone. And a lovely Labrador who greets you at the door checking you to your table.

Excellent brunch, as usual. Good quality ingredients, hot, and plenty of it. My daughter and I love coming here. Hettie is a delight, loves a cuddle but never begs. Look forward to seeing you later in the spring. Love and hugs to you Charlie 🥰🤗

Went for breakfast with a friend we waited a long time for coffee and eventually another person was enlisted to help and they arrived. I could see mine waiting on the counter for a while so it wasn't ultra hot when it arrived. We ordered breakfast just before it finished as they were going to be busy at lunch time as it was Easter. Both arrived, hot and tasty. Friendly service and a nice place.

A seemingly unlikely place to have such a nice little restaurant/café. We have popped in and eaten here several times when visiting Bakewell and Matlock and never been disappointed. Good service, lovely ambiance and great food. Usually we stop in for a coffee and cake, but had something a bit more substantial this time – BLT and the sweetcorn fritters. Both were delicious. Have to say, the pizzas did look good too. In addition to offering a variety of food and drink, they also have a nice selection of little nicknacks, generally kitchenware. Difficult to resist taking home a random kitchen trinket, but we managed this time. Fantastic location if you are visiting one of the many tourist spots around – and the shopping centre isn’t bad either.

Four of us met up here for Sunday lunch. 2 had the Steak pie with mashed potato and peas, both happy. The other two had delicious scampi with lovely mushy peas and chunky chips, only criticism very small portion of not so chunky chips. Service efficient and friendly. Would come back when next in Bakewell.

After dropping our things off at the B&B the Manners came recommended by the owner. Felt very welcome and the staff were all helpful and pleasant. We both had pie’s with great home cooked chips and mushy peas, although the portions weren’t massive it was fine for us and very tasty. Had a couple of drinks and this pub started a brilliant weekend stay in Bakewell, cheers!

Under new management, and we were very impressed! Warm and friendly staff who were very welcoming and efficient. Gorgeous roast dinners, beef cooked beautifully, with really fresh veg. Lovely atmosphere, and nice and clean. I highly recommend! Thank you 🤩

Very pleasantly surprised, stumbled upon this lovely pub after walking for ages in the cold looking for somewhere to eat. We were greeted immediately when walking in by Jacob who was professional and welcoming. You order at the bar. It was busy but not heaving. Vibe is gastro pub. Food portions are absolutely huge, so you get what you pay for! Food was tasty and reasonably priced. Jacob was attentive without being intrusive. Would definitely come back here again.

Charlotte and Lee were great hosts! We had the shoulder of beef which just melted in the mouth and cooked to perfection! Great prices and lovely comfortable pub to enjoy the great lunch. We’re on holiday this week visiting Bakewell for the day. Definitely consider the Wheatsheaf, you won’t be disappointed!

Great location for dinner and a drink after a nice long walk. Dog friendly, lovely service we were well looked after by Charlotte! Food was fab, we had the beef and the pork cutlet, generous portions that really hit the spot! Definitely recommend!

Really enjoyed our lunch here today,food was super tasty along with a decent selection of beers. Spotlessly clean and very attentive staff. Great work guys 👍
