We stayed one night and we had dinner on site. This is a beautiful house in a very delicate English garden. From the moment we arrived, the staff looked after us, made us feel welcome and very special. We had an exceptional dinner with a 6 courses menu served at perfect temperature and with paired wines, recommended by the sommelier. The breakfast was also a beautiful experience in the exquisitely decorated dining area. 2 comments for this place to be really heaven on earth: . Sleep: the mattress was very very soft to a point we did not sleep well at all. It felt like we were sleeping on a waterbed, which is very uncomfortable especially after dinner. . The selection of champagne is very good, however £25/£30+ a glass plays the magic of the place down.

We had an unforgettable dining experience at Fischer’s Baslow Hall to celebrate a birthday, and everything—from the service to the food—was exceptional. The team went above and beyond to make the occasion special, with the waitstaff offering warm, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful service that added a personal touch to the celebration. The food was absolutely incredible—each course beautifully presented and bursting with flavor, clearly crafted with skill and care. Every dish told its own story, and the attention to seasonal ingredients and balance made the meal feel both luxurious and grounded in nature. The setting itself, elegant and tranquil, complemented the whole experience perfectly. It’s clear why Fischer’s holds its Michelin Plate status—it’s a place where fine dining meets heartfelt hospitality. We’ll absolutely be returning and recommending it to anyone looking for a truly memorable culinary experience.

We ate in the restaurant, enjoying the 6 course menu. The restaurant is setup such that even when full each table still feels private. Service was unobtrusive but warm and professional. Food was excellent- fresh ingredients, good use of taste, colour and texture. A great meal, if slightly on the expensive side.

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent weekend stay, for our special occasion. The staff were extremely welcoming, friendly, attentive and helpful. Our luxurious room was beautifully decorated and the bed very comfortable. All of our meals were delicious, and we were very impressed with the extensive wine list. Our whole experience was delightful, no doubt due to the great attention to detail that everyone has here. The fabulous grounds and gardens add to the serenity of this beautiful place. We are so glad that we chose Fischers and hope to return..... This is a truly special place ❤️

What a treat. We were there to celebrate our friends’ wedding anniversary and the food, service and atmosphere were spot-on for the occasion. Considering the quality of the ingredients and how they were presented, it was good value. Lee also made an appearance, serving the pre-dinner breads which were absolutely delicious. The best eating experience. The food was incredible from start to finish. Wine list is was outstanding. Staff were absolutely amazing. We ate everything and did not want to leave. Absolutely joyous. Highly, highly recommended. The most enjoyable food experience we've had a long time. Thank you so much. You made our joint celebration so special.

Went for lunch with a friend and expected something special- I wasn’t disappointed. Steak tartar and the steak were wonderful- very tender. My friend had asparagus and then hake. Possibly best food I’ve had for years and very nice service. Hugely recommend

We had a lovely evening at Lovage, had been recommended to go and are very glad we did The welcome, atmosphere and interior of the restaurant, all great The food was stunning, in looks and taste, a delicious, complimentary cheese filo tart started us off, all courses were memorable The wine list is a good size and starts off at less than £30,so decent value Was good to see the Maitre'd quietly training the young, efficient and friendly staff during service Have recommended and will return

We are not from the area but my partner took me here to celebrate my birthday. I wish I could give this place 10 stars. From the minute we walked in, we were greeted with amazing smiles and good energy from the staff. The place was absolutely beautiful!! The service was amazing and the attention to detail was immaculate, the staff were just amazing. The food!! Omg the food, from starters all the way to the desserts was just unbelievable. The quality of food was so good, I couldn’t believe it. My partner and I were very very impressed. We had an amazing night and will be definitely returning here in the future. It an experience anyone should experience to truly understand the high level of service and food they provide. They also had an amazing selection of wine, we were spoilt for choice. I 100% recommend this place.

We are visiting for the bank holiday locally in Bonsall and wanted to try something different. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. We were moved by wanting to support the couple that run this restaurant and we were not disappointed. The team warmly welcomed us and we were delighted to sample their warm fresh baked focaccia bread on arrival. A truly special touch. I ordered the sea bream, and my partner ordered the duck with orange sauce. For dessert we enjoyed the Creme Brûlée and passionfruit dessert and the chocolate butter pudding. The food was exceptional. The care and detail put into the experience and food and presentation was thoughtful and carefully curated. The depth of flavour of the sauces was a real treat. We can’t wait to suggest this to family that visit this area frequently and hope to return in the future. Thank you for a lovely evening!

Good food, came for a birthday treat. Quite formal, my only quibble is the seating for 2 were very close, so felt like you were looking closely at someone's dinner. All friendly though, so not too awkward.

We were served by a young lady and the owner Christiana,the service was excellent,we chatted to Christiana as we have been before. The food was unbelievable,the service was excellent. We are definitely going to visit Pie Daniels again

The food was very tasty and not dripping in oil like many others. The onion bhaji was delicious and the lamb tikka was also beautiful. The naan bread was interesting as it had the coriander almost woven through it which I’ve never seen before, but it works really well! Delivery was super quick and also the prices are very reasonable. Will definitely be ordering again soon!

Decided to go out for last minute family Indian tonight. One of the very few meals that ticks all of our boxes !! The Aroma lounge at Darley Dale, is just a few miles away for us. When we arrived we were greeted with a friendly smile and were made welcome immediately. All of the staff were so accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. They even checked that we were happy with the spice levels in our dishes and offered to adjust them if necessary. The food was of excellent quality using fresh spices and not dried. It was the nicest chicken I’ve had at any Indian. So fresh. It would have been nice if the restaurant served alcohol but it certainly wouldn’t deter me from going again. You just need to be organised to take your own, There’s a local spar garage literally 2 minutes away and a little further out, a Co-op.

The food was really nice. The Staff was amazing really helpful and questions we had they could answer them straight away ,and it was nice that the chef came out and asked if everything was ok with our meal. The Restaurant was nice and clean.

Lovely quintessential English Inn. The room was so nice, overlooking a beautiful large garden. Robes and slippers, a selection of organic teas and French press coffees. The room was spotless. The bedding so comfy. Best of all was Hillary at reception, she is a jewel. She made sure that we had everything we required and answered every question I had. We enjoyed it so much we extended our stay for an extra day.

Dinner at the Peacock on Saturday night was excellent. The food was fantastic although not, perhaps, exceptional -everything was done well but nothing stood out as particularly memorable. Service was excellent although not quite perfect - wine service was slow at times and aperitifs arrived after the wine. That said, we had a good time and it was great value for money for the quality of food and wine provided. I would certainly return.

Just celebrated my wife's birthday at The Peacock with a dinner, bed & breakfast package. It was a beautiful Spring day the hotel garden was just emerging out of its Winter slumber. The hotel has a lovely atmosphere. The dinner was SUPERB with imaginative cooking which was very tasty. The wine list was thoughtful with a good choice of grape and price range. The staff were charming and the cooked breakfast this morning was excellent. The only suggestion we would have: could you include biscuits with the tea & coffee in the room and also include granola or muesli at breakfast. Otherwise, really enjoyed our stay.

First experience in this place . Very nice atmosphere. We was very hungry and had a hand to choose food . Had oysters, scallops ,bread plate ,filled crab, ,and soft drinks . Will come again,food,location and hospitality was great 🎉🥳🥰❤️. (Not a lot of pictures ,because we was way too hungry )🤣

Had our wedding meal here on Saturday and Louise and the team went above and beyond ! As a new restaurant and being out of the country when organising I couldn’t have asked for more and instantly trusted Louise who was enthusiastic and completely understood what we wanted ! She was the best host we could have asked for! The food was impeccable - the chef is outstanding and absolutely nailed the menu! Thank you to the whole team ❤️

Amazing food! Was a quiet Monday night so was nice and quick service. Everything so fresh and very well presented! Will definitely be back when next in Bakewell Clam chowder, crab and pork belly to start. Couldn't pick the best between them they were all that good. Mussels and steak for mains. Having driven past so many times thinking iv never been there, one day I will go (just means driving, not drinking). I finally made an effort and went last night! Wow, why didn't we go before it was absolutely amazing. The food is fantastic and so much choice, real italin feel to the whole dishes. The mushrooms were out if this world and my partner said the same about the meatballs! From the moment we walked in, the staff and service were fabulous, so friendly and welcoming. Definitely service with a smile. I definitely recommend this place, don't drive past book it and go for sure!

My wife and I dined here for the first time and were thoroughly impressed. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and efficient, setting a welcoming tone for the evening. The food was exceptional—beautifully presented and full of flavour. We started with the calamari and prawn salad, both of which were fresh, well-seasoned, and perfectly cooked. For our mains, we enjoyed two delicious pizzas with crisp bases and generous toppings. To finish, we indulged in dessert, and the puddings did not disappoint—rich, satisfying, and the perfect end to the meal. Overall, a fantastic dining experience, and one I would gladly recommend to anyone looking for quality food and great service in a relaxed setting.

We had lunch at Charlie’s today, the previous reviews are very accurate. Menu had an Extensive range to choose from. Food fantastic, hot and well presented. Service friendly and impeccable . Great ambiance and certainly plan to return.

Stopped in on the off chance, had aan Egg Mayonnaise sandwich, nicest I have tasted, with big chunks of back bacon, on granary, nice side garnish too. All the food looked good. Good menu something for everyone. And a lovely Labrador who greets you at the door checking you to your table.

Incredible hospitality even when closed! Every single person was unbelievably kind and welcoming!! If I am ever in the area again I will definitely love to try the tasty looking food just from the treatment of the lovely staff alone. I was really surprised by this find, worth a detour from Chatsworth or other trips in the area to find great homemade food that feels a cut abovs the rest. It had the atmosphere of a cage but the food is that of a good bistro, with a substantial specials board. We struggled to make a choice as there was so much good food on the menu. For info: we made friends with Hettie, a placid and gentle dog who is nonetheless interested in everyone and their food. If you don't like dogs this might be an inconvenience.

Wonderful cafe with great allergy guidance and so many dairy free cakes! Will definitely go back and would highly recommend - the only thing is there aren't loads of tables so I imagine it gets quite busy!

Incredible selection of delicious high quality home made cakes and cater for gluten free and vegan. Good range of vegan food options. Best cherry bakewell I've had in my life and a monster portion 😊 Will make a detour to go back!

Spent a couple days in the area and this was my fave place to eat. As a vegan, I found good choices. Also impressed with the vegan breakfast being more than just a veggie breakfast with egg removed, which is what you get in a lot of places.

This was a lovely place to have coffee, a light lunch, and some delicious cakes after my hike from Curbar Edge. The atmosphere was warm and cozy, just what I needed after the walk. The gift shop was absolutely beautiful—I was so amazed when I saw all the unique and lovely items they had. It’s definitely a spot worth visiting!

After reviewing restaurants within this area, The Prince of Wales reviewed very well. We were not disappointed. There is a good selection of starters and not the general pub selection. I had risotto and my wife had pigs cheeks. Both were first class. We then had a Hand Made Beefburger each. The burgers were fantastic. One of the best burgers I have had for a long time. It was just like eating a steak sandwich. Would I go again and recommend. Definitely. If you like my reviews please follow me, as I regularly review.

Absolutely exceptional food, brilliant service and a lovely vibe. I genuinely cannot recall the last time I had food in a pub, that would grace a Michelin star table. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. Just fabulous

Ordered the Chicken Liver Parfait for starters with the Ballotine of confit duck for main. Greats hosts with even greater food. Possibly the best dish I have eaten out, if this was my local I would be coming here at least once a month for the confit duck. Come here for a chef with outstanding knowledge on food prep and flavours and friendly and formal staff.
