Both of our children have received maths tuition and we would wholeheartedly recommend Ramona. Our son had completely fallen out of love with Maths and his grades were falling - Ramona reignited his confidence and enjoyment and we’ve seen a tremendous turn around in just one term. Ramona has the lovely ability to support and educate with a friendly warm manner but still challenge and coax children into stretching themselves.

Ramona has been tutoring my 14 year old daughter in GCSE Maths tuition for over 6 months now and we have been delighted with the results. I contacted Ramona after being recommended by a friend as, I was very nervous about passing the numeracy and literacy tests needed to apply for the PGCE teaching qualification. The numeracy test was timed and you were only given around 30 seconds to answer each question, which meant there wasn’t time to think - instead you needed to instantly know the quickest and most effective methods to use. I only visited Ramona on two occasions and, I can honestly say that, that was enough to make all the difference. We went through past paper questions together and she quickly identified shortcuts and new techniques that allowed me to breakdown questions quickly and effectively. Her explanations were very clear and the methods she taught me (which hadn’t been covered in school) were extremely quick, leaving me with spare time during the test to check my answers. Ramona has a way of making Maths seem simple and her methods allow for quicker access to the answer. For the PGCE qualification, at the time if you failed the numeracy test twice, you would have to wait a year before trying again. It is because of Ramona that I passed the test first time and as such, I would highly recommend her.

My son Sam goes to Ramona and I can’t speak highly enough of our experience so far. After the very first session he said “I have learned more in the last hour than I did all year at school”. Better still, he comes home quite animated about maths which, coming from someone who is not terribly enamoured of the whole education thing, is quite an accolade!

So pleased we found Excellence Tuition, really has made such a difference to our child's confidence. They attempt questions which before they would have hesitated at. The online lessons are practical, the group sizes thought through ensuring each child has individual guidance from Ramona during a lesson. The pace of the lesson is maintained and adjusted to meet the needs of the children participating, to ensure each is making their own progress, whilst working alongside others. As the live session runs, Ramona's tone and dialogue remain positive and she has a good energy in encouraging her students. The length of lesson and timing fits well following a day at school. As a parent, I am able to speak with Ramona at intervals to gain an updates of progress and current focuses being worked on.
