The Best Cafes in Southampton, Hampshire, United Kingdom (2025)

I recently decided to try Good Things. It was a Saturday, sun pouring through the window, a gentle southerly breeze, we were seated by the entrance and the staff were welcoming but it was not all good (🥁) sadly. We were offered water for the table which never arrived and our food took a while to arrive but we think it was due to a shortage of baguette rolls for the bahn mi sandwiches we ordered. I just wish we had been warned about a wait! I had the tofu bahn mi which looked impressive, but the tofu itself was quite bland under the katsu breading. The rolls also made eating the sandwich quite a challenge, so I'd probably prefer a less crusty roll. All in all, there are good things to be had at good things, but there is always room for improvement. Of course, this post is written with good humour in mind.

This is my favourite hang out spot now & hands down the best coffee in Hampshire. The staff are masters of coffee in the day & cocktail experts in the evenings. They are all extremely kind, welcoming & Southampton is very lucky to have them here. The food is also brilliant & I'm slowly making my way through the menu!

Walked in to a lovely welcome, the staff behind the bar are extremely receptive and literally made us what we wanted (it was off menu) after ordering we had them brought to our table, a short while later after enjoying the dj we were given a complimentary shot that was a straight 9/10 . Really great place, I think it's just opened so definitely one to try! Edit We had breakfast here and it really didn't miss the mark. Friendly server really welcoming smile and great food, can't complain one bit

Good old fashioned cafe where the prices are great and the food phenomenal. Greeted with a warm smile, and they make you feel at home. If you want a comfortable stop that will leave your wallet, happy this is it.

My wife went for the fried breakfast & I decided upon the eggs Benedict. Great, good value food, fantastic friendly service. Would certainly recommend this to anyone who happens to be in the area 👍🏼

I was there for the first time today. We bought a house nearby and I decided to look around the area. I had a vegetarian breakfast which was amazing and very fresh. I didn't notice that you can only pay in cash, but the lady behind the counter said I could withdraw cash from a nearby ATM and pay later. I was surprised by the warmth and trust. There aren't many places like that anymore.

We had lunch here a few days ago and it was lovely. The Indian bread and egg omelette was delicious so were the cheese and ham croissants. We could take our 3 dogs in and we will return soon.

I’ve been reviewing Cafes for years and years and believe me when I say this… Hello Coffee is incomparable to any other cafe. From the sheer quality in the food to the extremely compassionate service to the serene atmosphere, I definitely recommend a visit no matter where you live.

Such a lovely place for breakfast or lunch, serving a mixture of English breakfast/lunch options and Indian street food, as well as a great selection of cakes. The owner is really enthusiastic and passionate about what he does, we enjoyed an English breakfast of bacon, eggs and sausage with a very light garnish of chilli and Indian flatbread. Such a lovely place, we will definitely return!

Went during my visit to Southampton and had a great experience here. The owner introduced me to a decently favourite loved by many (naan and omelette) and offered great advice and hospitality. Would go again!

The staff was very friendly, and the coffee was very tasty. The pastry we ordered was fresh. They were very sustainable, highly recommended, and I would go back there again.

Was walking the dog to pass the time whilst car was getting an MOT in Shirley. The heavens opened and needed shelter somewhere, so stumbled upon this cafe by chance! Fortunately for us they were dog friendly so we were able to take refuge at this cafe. They were very welcoming to the pooch, and even had dog biscuits available for our four legged friends coming in. I didn’t grab any food, but I did have a latte which was very good quality. I should add the food did look good from what I could see. I will certainly return if and when I’m passing next time.

Such a lovely atmosphere when I walked in, it was at the end of the night and I was staying nearby so I thought I'd stop by and grab a hot chocolate and tasty snack. The staff were super friendly and oh my the cherry blondie was delicious and the hot chocolate was too! I'll definitely be returning when I I'm back.

Lovely place with great coffee and collection of tea! Great atmosphere with a lot of natural light and huge space. Unfortunately, I can’t find a seat as it was very busy. Will try the pastries on my next visit.

FAVOURITE CAFE TO TRULY RELAX IN SOUTHAMPTON. Starting with ambiance of this beautiful place! a warm and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for studying, working, reading and catching up with friends. The environment is not loud inside and uniquely decorated unlike coffee chains costa and Starbucks with many ppl and always loud. The interior is cozy, with soft lighting and comfortable seating that invites you to stay longer than you might have planned. The menu offers a delightful range of options, from freshly brewed coffees to tasty pastries and light bites, all prepared with evident care. I want to also take the chance to give a huge Thank you and commend the barista named Layla whose exceptional service adds an extra layer of charm to the experience. From proving a warm welcome and smiley positive attitude to crafting delicious coffees in an incredibly personable manner tailoring to our preferences.

It’s a great space for studying/working in, and the staff are really friendly. Tried the peach matcha iced latte and it was incredible 😋 Also had both the pistachio latte and the biscoff latte - both were tasty altho a little on the sweet side (and I personally preferred the pistachio). If you like your coffee a bit stronger I’d recommend adding a shot

Loved it for a coffee break :) Pretty and comfortable, good atmosphere overall. The desserts and drinks are awesome, yet maybe a bit too sweet at times. Service is nice, food is served at your table. Spent around £6 for a tea and a dessert.

Went for breakfast whilst trying out different places around Southampton. Had the eggs royale. Absolutely delicious. This place is a bit hidden due to scaffolding but great vibe and lovely staff. Quality of the food is beautiful. Would highly recommend. Good veggie options also if you’re not a meat eater 👌 should have taken a pic before I ate the food but it was too late and too scrummy 😆 ! They’re a smaller non-chain and love to support local businesses so get down and try it out 🤌

Lovely small locally owned cafe situated next to Queens Park. I've been here a handful of occasions due to it being near to my accomodation, and the food and atmosphere is always great. I haven't tried the lunch menu yet, however the breakfasts are fantastic. The prices of both food and coffee are also great considering. Will definitely be making this a frequent visit. Thanks!

Huge sweet potato toast,i liked it a lot. Good size of cup of coffee. Nice place,just location-couldn't find carpark near.

When in Southampton we will definitely be back to dine. We finished all our plate, a family of 4 enjoyed this gem of a cafe’. They gave some unique cafe drinks. Do give them some time to prep your order but everything tasted fresh and such a friendly staff. Not a far walk from Queen’s Park. Not a big place but they have patio and we came in during December brrr…. I would imagine in the warmer months the patio is an excellent place to have sit down with coffee.

Better and cheaper than *bucks. I had a Perfect latte and fresh pastry. Maybe it's not baked here but it's not in a packet. Chilled music and modern decor. Wifi and sockets. What more do u need

Great coffee with good prices. Fresh and delicious doughnuts with different flavours and not very sweet. Friendly people with smiles and always clean place. They have vegan options as well.

The most beautiful cafe in the city of Southampton. Lovely music and amazing staff. You can have any drink under the sun and the pastry selection is wonderful. I had a San Sebastian cheesecake last time I was here and I still think about it to this day.

I discovered Coffeelogy today by accident. As I coach driver, I needed to stop and take a break. The atmosphere was friendly with interesting design and decor, plus filled with books to read. I ended up staying for a couple of hours before going back to collect my passengers. The coffee was lovely and reasonably priced and the cinnamon swirl was delicious too! A great place to spend some spare time, relax and enjou a book. The gentleman serving was so friendly too and kindly let me borrow the book I became engrossed in until I return next. Well worth a visit and I shall be returning next time I have a job in Southampton. Thank you!

Had come here once before with my sis and ordered passionfruit iced tea🤤 and she ordered Ferrero rocher milkshake. I tasted her's and My God!! LOVED IT. So this time I ordered one for myself. Should definitely try it❤️❤️ And also the prices are very affordable

Very spacious coffee shop with good coffee open until late evening. Perfect spot to take a rest.

Visited there recently and the interior and the ambiance was quite nice there. They had seating on the ground floor as well as the first. We ordered a cappuccino and a herbal tea. Both were quite nice. Of course the herbal tea was made with tea bags, still it was presented in a nice way. They have clean toilets upstairs as well. Make sure to be careful on the staircase though, as the steps are quite narrow. In conclusion it is a nice place to hangout, have a chat or even bring your work and do. Recommended!

I love that Muse stays open until 9pm especially on a Sunday. Perfect to unwind after a hectic week with a cuppa and a book. The coffee is cheap, delicious and suitable for all dietary needs too. Perfect! They even gave us free coffee after the hate marches earlier this year to spread love such as nice touch! Thanks to my server Gabby for working the Sunday evening (19 Jan 2025) with a smile and making this possible - even ensured my coconut cappuccino was perfectly frothy.

Shame it isn't advertised as a vegan only place! I assumed that most of the menu is just a regular cafe menu. Ate there today for the first time only because my friend took me there and a staff member told me it's all vegan. Great coffee, tea and food! Lovely little place with very welcoming service. Large choice of vegan cakes too! Highly recommended!

Such a lovely cafe! Came here off a recommendation from a friend and wasn't dissapointed. Lovely atmosphere and decor and the food was 10/10! Great price and great taste, plus the menu variety so vast! Great portion sizes too! Plus the pastries are immense! Will definitely return

Me and my ex were out in town and wanted to eat some good breakfast. My mom recommended this cafe to me, saying that it looked quite good and that they served healthy and real food. We decided to try it out and eat there, when we arrived we saw that there was a selection of healthy foods for sale (snacks and stuff). There is a nice upstairs seating area with a good view which we decided to go up to. We ordered two wraps, smoothies, and a side of skin on fries. The smoothies came first and they were really good, made with fresh fruit and it was clear they were made with good ingredients. They tasted really nice. The wraps were huge portions and came with a side of salad and presented really well in what looks like recyclable / eco packaging. The wraps were full of meat and sides and were really filling. The skin on fries were not greasy and tasted really fresh, it was very clear that the ingredients were high quality. Overall the food was amazing, albeit not cheap, but I think that the quality makes up for it. Would highly recommend for fresh and tasty food with a nice view.

The best place in Southampton 😍!!! I’ve come twice and wish I lived closer as otherwise I’d be here every week! It’s a fully vegan menu but with so many options, reasonably priced, and lovely staff and decor. They also sell some chocolates and vegan pantry essentials. To the owners- PLEASE keep the chicken tenders and deep fried cookie dough permanently! 😍
