I had to have my beloved dog put to sleep yesterday, as she injured her back and was paralysed. While the staff were compassionate and caring, they neglected to tell me, that when they took my dog away to insert the cannula, they also sedated her at the same time. Therefore, when they let me return to the medical room, she was so heavily sedated, that she didn’t know i was there. I feel like I didn’t get to say goodbye to her properly, and the last memory I have of her as she was, was her being put back in her crate to be taken away to have the cannula inserted. I really wanted to be with her for the entire process, as she would have been so terrified without me. I can’t stop thinking about her last 5 minutes without me before they let me back in and administered the final injection. I’m so upset.
