Starter was Garlic mushrooms and it was just that. Bunch of boiled mushrooms chopped up in a bowl. Lots of water at the bottom. Tasted nice although there was a lot for a starter. Bruschetta looked nice and was told it tasted delicious. They hadn't got one of the few veggie options I wanted for the main but i went for the four cheese pasta. Again, very basic presentation. Just pasta in a bowl, but it was very tasty. We were told we couldn't have tap water as there was bits in it so we were sold a bottle of water but weren't told we were going to be charged five pound fifty for it! This was too over priced considering it wasn't our fault that the tap water wasn't available. The Server was very nice but at first we weren't sure if he was staff as he just had a scruffy hoodie and jeans on. It is a lovely little place that is one of Swadlincotes hidden treasures. Would recommend you give it a try. Friends had dessert which looked delicious. Lots to choose from and generous portions.

Celebrated a birthday during the week, Food was fantastic!!! Atmosphere was brilliant and the Host was such a lovely Gent!!! He really made our visit there!! thank you for a great dinner and fun atmosphere.

This visit was my first and certainly won't be the last. The food was excellent and very traditional to the owners Italian roots. After eating and experiencing Italian culture this little gem.hits the spot. I would advise booking and they do take away to add ❤️

This is hands down THE place to go in and around Swadlincote for a really special meal. The service is faultless; personalised, warm, welcoming and of the highest standard. The menu is a little slice of Italy and the steaks are perfectly cooked as you request, they are beyond any I’ve had elsewhere (no steak knife needed it’s that succulent). The owners couldn’t do more for you whilst you are visiting, hats off to the chef, this is Swadlincote's little secret. Can’t speak highly enough of this wonderful restaurant. The incredibly high standards we’ve experienced are over multiple visits over many years … and it only gets better each time. Thank you for lots of nice memories and full tummies, we are already looking forward to our next visit!

Lovely proper drinkers pub, outside drinking area and a massive selection of ciders. Boon Doggle, Pedigree and Bass. Lots of Gins and the lady that served us, Dawn, was lovely. Ideal if you are stopping at Beehive Lakes campsite.

A old fashioned country pub with traditional ales and a large selection of local ciders. Warm welcoming landlord and staff. A great place to chill after walking the dogs or just a ramble on the numerous walks in and around the area. Dog friendly and plenty of outdoor seating well worth a look. In the coming months when the weather picks up!!! Hopefully.

Second pub on my mini pub crawl around rural South Derbyshire. A good boozer’s pub. A refreshing and rather creamy pint of Bass, decent price for the pint and plenty of seating in the shade behind the pub itself. Nothing to really complain about at all, been in better pubs, but for what it is, it’s a good pub!

Fantastic beer and company. Cider and Perry too! Not a gastro pub; a proper country local.

This is a new restaurant only open 5 months and now well worth a visit. Excellent food and service, decor is elegant and comfortable. KOYRUL floor manager is so helpful and caring. A definite must for anyone who likes good a curry.

Came here for the first time to celebrate my birthday as we were in the local area. It is the best Indian I have ever had. Recommendations by the waiter were spot on and the food was delicious; made to your preferences. Service was excellent, as was the food. The hand painted decor was a talking point also. Do not hesitate to go, we wish there was a similar restaurant closer to home.

We've been going to Spice Touch as a family for years and I won't ever go anywhere else! Always a warm welcome, and fabulous food! The staff are so attentive and always know which wine to bring to the table when we walk in. I've never had a bad meal in the 10+ years we've been coming. Couldn't recommend Spice Touch enough!

Great local pub in Donisthorpe, nice friendly staff and good selection of drinks. I’m doing dry Jan so had a Guinness 0.0 and a SanMiguel 0.0 also and were actually okay. Can see this place being great in the evening for the locals. Food was okay. Pie was nice enough but nothing to rave about. Well priced.

First visit here (just to check it out). In for solo lunch. Just had black pudding croquettes (very tasty) ,a bowl of home-cut chips and a beer. Had a peek at evening/Sunday menu. All looked very nice and looking forward to returning for a meal. Don't be fooled by standard external "pub" look. Inside is very nice,welcoming and clean - recently renovated. Very friendly service and ambiance

Don't know if it was a special Bank Holiday event, or is it a normal thing, but we had some hot dogs in outside bbq and they were delicious. Especially along two pints of shandy. Nice outdoor area too, and great walks around. Dog friendly.

We were so lucky to have booked! Staff were very helpful and friendly, the food was delicious. The only downside was when we came to leave and the table behind us was occupied, we were that close together we had to move the table after my partner had stood up to get out. That wouldn’t stop us going again though.

Wonderful. Went after a long day working outside. Lovely atmosphere, Great owners. The stilton chicken is lush. I also had half a burger and that too was very well prepared. Proper food by a proper chef.

Lovely pub. Could do with some better outdoor furniture. Nicely furnished inside. Friendly and helpful staff. Food reasonable but wine overpriced for what it was. Staying over night the room was generous in size with a large TV. Plenty of tea and coffee and chilled water in bottles. The bathroom was well fitted out but take all your own toiletries as none were provided. Breakfast is generous and well cooked but would have been improved by a locally sourced farm sausage. We enjoyed our stay.

Just had an incredible steak! best quality food I've had from a pub in a long while. I would consider it a gastro pub although presentation of the food is the only let down as it doesn't do justice to the quality which as mentioned was amazing. Staff were lovely, very understanding and considerate. over all atmosphere was quiet and friendly. Looking forward to coming back at some point. Staff and management are very understanding of certain requirements and made all preparations necessary to accommodate our party incredibly well!

First visit here, very nice atmosphere and great decorations. The pub is a bigger place than first thought. This is at the moment a card only place.no cash. There is plenty of parking at the rear, left side of the pub to enter car park and exit on the right.I didn't have food this time but will definitely be back to try. Large selection of ales and lagers, I had dark star and Victoria. Very nice. It's definitely worth a visit if in the area. Dog friendly, too.

The service here is phenomenal, I couldn't fault a thing. We had a very minor issue and they couldn't do enough to sort it out. Despite being very busy service was super speedy, the food tasted amazing and the drinks were great. The menu is fantastic. It was our first visit here but not the first to the chain. We will definitely visit again as we loved everything about our visit.

Amazing pizza! My son could not believe his eyes when he saw how big his pizza was when it came out of the kitchen. Really good value for money. Fantastic cocktails too. Service was outstanding. Our waitress came over with games for the kids unprompted even though it was very busy. Little bags of sweets after paying the bill also got the thumbs up from the kids.

1st time visit after seeing the Smash Burger sign, food was amazing, moo moo Burger was top draw, the peggs larger was a great change from the normal popular larger and served by friendly helpful staff, the refit of the old building is great and still has the old character but with a modern twist, we will be back, thank you all for your hospitality. 😉👍

Visited yesterday for a quick drink while waiting for our daughter. Ended up stopping for 4 hours. A great choice of drinks including Alcohol free. Decided ro have something to eat as well as we had been there so long. You must try the batter pickles they were amazing. Great service as well and a lovely atmosphere. Will definitely be back.

i went yesterday with some friends, immediately the service was friendly and quickly created a rapport with us. not only were they very accommodating with my friend and his non-alcoholic drink, but on two occasions, they made sure we were aware of the deals on offer in order to save money where possible so we could spend it on better upgrades. The wait time was standard, and when the food was ready, it was very tasty. my favourites were the wings in flavours tandoori mayo and buffalo. Overall great service and food.

A great place to wine and dine, owner is polite and down to earth so is his team. Bar come into its own as the evening sets in with chimners lit and great food, Beer is excellent and crisp an fresh cold too which makes a change. Food is top

Nice gastro pub with very friendly owners. Big car park, outdoor seating and modern and friendly interior. Huge portion of tasty foods for reasonable prices. Their steak is one of the best in the UK. I strongly recommend to visit Sally and Martin's restaurant. We will definitely return to try their authentic Greek gyros next time.

Went for the first time tonight, had a wonderful time. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, and the food! Amazing! Had the Lamb Kebab and Halloumi Kebab and both were so tasty. Lovely big portions and fantastic flavours. Will definitely be coming back.

Great English village...very pretty place. We had the authentic Greek kebab and drink (Wednesday evening ) I don't think I have ever eaten such a tasty combination of flavours. It was a delight. The beer was good too!😋 Would thoroughly recommend to anyone.

Visited on a Saturday morning (9.45ish) at the end of October. Was surprised to see quite a few people already there, as other places are usually a little quieter at this time! Having eaten, I can fully understand why it is popular - we have found our new favourite local place for a cooked breakfast! 2 of us dined, and we opted for the Scottish breakfast and the Irish breakfast, as we've never the chance to try these ever before. We cut bits up to share, so we both got to try the Scottish bits and the Irish bits, and my goodness they were good! The Lorne sausage (Scottish) was quite dense, like a really good quality burger, the Irish sausage were delicious, the white pudding (Scottish) was creamy and peppery, the black pudding (Irish) was divine - crumbly textured, and a great flavour (supermarket black pudding has been ruined forever now!), the tattie scone (Scottish) and homemade potato cake (Irish) were amazing (and whilst in theory the same thing, had different textures and a slight difference in taste) Everything else on the plate was also high quality - lovely eggs, the thickest bacon I have ever seen, great tomatoes and really nice baked beans. Beans and chopped tomatoes served in ramekins (perfect for those who don't like the juices touching). There were mushrooms on the Irish breakfast, but I would have liked more as I love mushrooms. No mushrooms on the Scottish breakfast, which were missed. The Scottish breakfast came with some thick sliced white toast, and the Irish breakfast came with thick sliced soda bread. While the soda bread had a really nice flavour, it was a little bit dense for my tastes (first time having it, so not used to it!) The meals were £13 each, which included a hot drink. We ordered a tea and a coffee. The coffee (americano) was served in a nice sized mug. The tea was served in a pot, which didn't dribble, and I had a cup and saucer to drink it from. Plenty of milk in the jug that accompanied the drinks. The menu explains that breakfasts are cooked to order, so to allow about 20 minutes between ordering and being served. This gave us enough time to drink our drinks, and people watch. Some orders that came out looked very impressive, including the doorstop breakfast sandwiches, which were enormous! While we there, a customer in a wheel chair arrived - there was a little issue in getting the wheelchair through, but another table tucked their chairs in and the customer was able to get through. Plenty of staff serving, taking orders and cleaning up. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!!

"Perfect in every way" I collected an order placed at Toons furniture store this morning and decided to try out the cafe. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted and seated very politely. From the couple who I presume run the café to the waitress staff, everyone was exceptionally lovely. The breakfast was piping hot and Perfectly served to my table with accompanying hot Latte. The cafe is very clean with nice table decorations which make the experience even more enjoyable. I spoke with the lady afterwards and congratulated her for the way I had been looked after. I will definitely be returning and recommending this little gem of a place. Simply superb 5 stars from me. Best Wishes and congratulations to you all.

Needed a catch up with a friend and this was the place we picked for breakfast! It's inside toons but not hard to find just enter and head left, you'll work out the rest. Ample parking outside! Easy wheelchair access also. Staff were helpful but you have to go back to the counter for everything. It got a little busy later and having to wait in the cue for another coffee and tea was a little poopy. Food was pretty good but more than I usually pay, yet I'm out of area so not sure what the prices are like around here. Toilets are nearby and kept clean. All in all I'd pop by again if I was in the area. Enjoy.

Wow, what a fantastic meal All home cooked, loads of fresh cooked vegetables with mash and roast potatoes. I had the steak and mushroom pudding. All piping hot. Cost very reasonable, well would say it was a steal such good value. With a long list of starters, mains, and ho my god homemade sweets, you can't go wrong with the food, service, and staff. As all of you know I like good food and this Bistro well pleased us all, it's well worth a visit. But I would think you have to book as it was quite full. Plus, there are lots of seating outside space and a fishing pond with ducks that we are. Dog friendly in the outside areas Thanks for a great meal, and keep up the great standards M&J and the crew

amazing service was greeted with a smile the hot chocolate was gorgeous and i liked my chicken and mushroom garlic sauce when i asked for gravy they got me some oh tho they didn’t get me enough but that was all sorted when i asked for more (highly recommend booking in advance)

Excellent breakfast, I had a ham and tomato omelette, the ham was thick and chunky, none of this processed meat. Service was very good, as always. Beautiful setting, next to the fishing lake, we sat outside with our coffee after we had eaten. Everywhere is spotlessly clean. Good amenities. I do recommend booking a table, especially during the summer months.

This is a lovely little find. Inside it looks like a beautiful tearoom overlooking a small very picturesque lake with waterfowl and irises. The staff were all super friendly and seem like a wonderful happy team. The food was very tasty and there was a huge selection, all cooked fresh with generous portion sizes. The cakes were incredible - if I lived closer I’d go everyday for a month to sample every cake.
