This is my second visit while on holiday from Canada, and this place has quickly become a favorite. The pub is cozy and inviting, with a huge patio that's perfect for a beautiful day. The food portions are generous and delicious, complemented by an amazing selection of beers. It's definitely a favorite holiday spot and a local haven. Plus, it's dog-friendly, so there's never a shortage of adorable dogs. The best pub in Derbyshire!!!
A fantastic little pub that is a true classic, great atmosphere and truly unique. They also offer a great selection of bar nibbles, with some pork pies which all looked delicious...
Amazing proper pub, like going back in time! Several real ales which were very well kept. Good varied menu, plus cheese platter and a choice of pork pies. We had the cheese platter and a pork pie to share, and a side of chips which were homemade and exceptional 😋 Our food cost £13 and the ale was £4.50 a pint. We were very happy with value, food quality and ale! A characteristic old pub with decor and open fires to match. I wish we could walk to this great pub!! 👍
I love heritage interior pubs , and this featured in my Camra pub. I also love real ale. I've been planning to visit for some time, even though it's three trains and a walk or bus. Fabulous interior, welcoming staff, good ale selection, plenty of outside areas , covered and uncovered and nice pub food. The cheese platter was 👍. It's also worth making it part of a mini pub crawl by finding the Spotted Cow and Dead Poets.
Stumbled across this 17th-century village pub while exploring the area and I’m so glad we did. It’s small inside, with cozy little rooms and a conservatory for extra seating, plus some outdoor benches where the old car park used to be. (correct me if I’m wrong) The pub is full of character and history with old photos and vintage memorabilia all around. Great selection of real ales, though lager options are limited to just Lukas and Stella which is shame. The homemade bar snacks are a real highlight—especially the pork and Stilton pies that are on display on the bar. Only downside is the parking— it’s roadside only and can get tight even on a weekday. Still, a charming spot that feels like it’s straight out of a postcard. Would definitely return.
