What a gem. I booked 3 weeks ago following a recommendation from ChatGPT. 5 days in the Peak District over half term with my daughter and this place wins hands down. Food fantastic and great June menu, we had the crab, and mackerel to start. My 12 yo daughter loved the soft shelled crab and was amazed at how it was presented. Followed by the loin and the pork belly. Wonderful. And to top it off a pint of Green Mountain for £4.80! Yes £4.80, under fiver. Can’t recommend this lovely traditional pub any more. Tucked away in a beautiful area, lovely food and great service. I can imagine it particularly appealing and cosy in a Winter evening with the log fire on. I'll be coming back. 🙂

A real gem. Good beer, great food - lots of choice. Excellent service. On the Saturday evening we visited, the pub was really busy with all tables booked and the bar full. The staff still had time for everyone, were friendly and helpful and completely unflustered. Special mention for Holly and Phoebe for great service! We will definitely be back.

Absolutely wonderful country 'gastro' pub. Restaurant food in a friendly village pub. The staff mafe us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we entered. Goods ales from the local Thornbridge brewery and the food is to die for. Reserve a table regardless so you don't miss out. Highly recommend we will return. Thanks Matt for the anniversary drink!

A Cracking Night at The Packhorse! We recently visited The Packhorse, a charming little pub nestled in the heart of the Peak District, and what a fantastic experience it was! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was buzzing – loads of people, lively chat, and a super friendly vibe that made us feel right at home. Our group of ten had an absolutely brilliant evening, largely thanks to our incredible servers, Holly and Grace. They were genuinely outstanding! We had loads of questions about the menu and the area, and they couldn't have been more helpful. Their enthusiasm was infectious, and they truly went the extra mile to ensure we had an excellent night. Nothing was too much trouble, and they were more than happy to adapt dishes to suit individual preferences within our large group. And the food? Superb! Every single one of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The quality was top-notch, and the flexibility with dish edits was a real bonus. The Packhorse truly delivers on all fronts – great food, wonderful atmosphere, and exceptional service. We're already planning our next trip back! Highly recommended for anyone looking for a brilliant pub experience in the Peak District.
