Excellent pub with great character, got some of the ale the had on tap, which was off. Brought this to the attention of the landlord and it was no problem he was off to change the barrel and pull through two good pints, exactly what you want to happen in that situation. The chips we got were also excellent. An ideal pub to go to on the way from Manchester to the Peak District.

One of the best pubs I’ve been to! The steak and Ale pie was first class and completely handmade. Staff very lovely and chatty - get yourselves down!!

We were hunting for a stop off dinner on route to Manchester airport going this absolutely gem on Google maps. What a lovely venue, roaring fires, a fabulous welcome, the food was home cooked and absolutely delicious. A very well earned 5 stars.

So glad we found this awesome pub. We stopped for lunch after checking Google Maps to see what was in the area, and the Bull's head was a great find. The staff were brilliant, the food was delicious and the building itself was fantastic. It was easy to imagine sitting there next to the fire 100 years ago with not much changed (in a good way). There are interesting things to look at everywhere. Definitely stop by if you're in the area.

Fantastic pub to visit either for food or a drink. Food is exceptional and John the owner goes above and beyond for his customers. I've been coming in this pub for 35 years now and highly recommend it.

Newly renovated, modern pub with a small-but-good ale selection. Interesting spirit selection including flavoured gins. Pleasant outdoor seating with marvellous views and a dedicated parking area.

A great free house, with great hand pulled bitter, and to my delight, Timothy Taylor's landlord,it was,spot on.The pub itself, is clean and comfortable, with friendly staff,and the out side space,has great seating,and Fabulous views.

Completed a hike around Glossop / Peak District area so stopped by to have dinner there. It was very busy and we didn't have a reservation but the staff were lovely and accommodated us. I ordered their Sunday Roast lamb. Everything was excellent and portion was decent. Reasonable price. Friendly and attentive staff all the way through. Thank you! Highly recommend this place for their food and service.

This is the third management team I have known to be at The wheatsheaf , I do have to say that it is an improvement on the last manager , it isn’t a ‘ country pub’ anymore , more like a city wine bar , I mean , it is nice , the decor is a bit too dark and music too loud but the landlord seems a nice enough guy?!. They don’t serve food anymore which is a shame ?! Mind you , I don’t think I’d like to be sat eating my dinner with music thudding away

Popped in here on spur of the moment and very glad we did. The landlady was lovely and accommodating. The prices were reasonable and the food was delicious...highly recommend the homemade salted caramel cheesecake. Well worth a visit

It is so fantastic to come into this pub and find it busy with such a warm, friendly, fun atmosphere! The staff are kind, friendly and give fantastic service and the cocktails are delicious! What a wonderful addition to Old Glossop 🥰

What a gem of a pub! We really enjoyed the friendly service with a personal touch, despite it being busy on a Sunday and only two staff serving. As well as the classic Sunday dinner (four choices of meat), there was an interesting and varied specials board, which included a vegetarian option that didn't sound like an afterthought. Our meals, from soup to desserts, were delicious and came in generous portions. Would highly recommend.

A late lunch here on a Saturday afternoon. Quiet when we arrived but has gotten busier since. Ordered the double burger and my wife had a pizza. Too much to choose from on the new menu, all looked great. The chef recommended food to us and wasn't wrong. Thank you George! Food was delicious and plentiful. Beer in good form too. Finished with a couple of Guinness' and these were fantastic too. Highly recommended. Great tunes and atmosphere. Will definitely return when in Glossop. Gerry

Homemade food, really tasty🙌 fish & chips is the perfect balance of batter❤️. Steak and Stilton pie is a great mix of flavors if you like blue cheese. Overall a great place to have lunch or dinner.

This was one of the best bottomless brunch experiences! Our host, Phill, was absolutely amazing—he made sure our glasses of Prosecco were always topped up. The food was fantastic, and the cocktails were some of the best we’ve ever had! Even if you weren’t a fan of a particular cocktail, Phill went above and beyond to find something you’d enjoy, which was brilliant. For the price and the incredible service from the staff, this place is a must-visit! If you’re in Glossop, Victoria Lounge is hands down the best spot for bottomless brunch. 10/10—highly recommend! Go and try it!

Called in for a nice quiet meal on a Thursday and the place was buzzing! The staff were extremely polite, very helpful and always smiling. The food we ordered (Tapas) was outstanding, better than a lot of the Spanish restaurants I have visited on my travels over the years, would absolutely not hesitate to return again, thank you all so much and see you soon :)

First time here, food excellent good portions. It was a charity event well attended. Will be back soon, great way to spend a Sunday, great hospitality.

We had a lovely Sunday evening out here as a couple. Very relaxed atmosphere and nice music. We had meatballs to start and then sea bass and seafood risotto. Tiramisu and chocolate cake for dessert. Everything was very nicely cooked and presented. Good portions as well. Shout out to the lad behind the bar because the cocktails/ mocktails were on point! The table was very well attended and all staff were polite. We would definitely like to come back to sample the pizza and some other menu items.

Really nice restaurant! A good atmosphere, there were 3 birthdays going on and everyone sang happy birthday which was lovely. Servers were accommodating apart from asking me to remove my hood which I explained that I am a hijabi and also have been suffering from a head injury therefore didn’t want to show it. They were very understanding. I ordered the lobster ravioli and it came in prawn sauce. My first time eating lobster and I wasn’t disappointed! The sauce was very fishy which was to be expected. I probably would like to see a lobster ravioli with tomato sauce on the menu in future. My partner had the pizza and this was also very tasty. The drink that I ordered was a strawberry lemonade and it was STUNNING. I do recommend coming here. Good date location or for a family/ friend get together.

Went here on a Saturday night for my husband's birthday. Overall, a lovely night and a very nice place to spend it. The staff were friendly and attentive and service was fast. I was a bit disappointed that there was only one choice of risotto, a vegetarian one, so I had that. Must say, it was delicious and lifted to a higher level by the side dish of stir fried chilli veg. We were a party of 8 and everyone enjoyed their meals, though the lobster ravioli was reported to be a bit bland. The staff made an effort to mark the birthday, even though we hadn't told them about it! We would definitely go back, as we had a most enjoyable, if slightly expensive evening.

Best Steak I have ever had and I have had more than most. Melted in your mouth and the atmosphere of the restaurant was second to none. My favourite restaurant now. 10 out of 10. Bar staff brilliant and nothing to much trouble. Love this restaurant. 👍👍👍👍

Update 17th May 2024: We came back again for our anniversary meal. The food was just as good as last time and they surprised us with cake and ice cream! Absolute legends, highly recommended. Tried the vegan menu and visited for the first time tonight. We were informed on arriving that our table would be a little late. The place was very busy, every chair was in use and the staff were all active. Despite being one of many customers we were still made to feel important. The vegan menu is good enough to want to visit again and to be honest my meal was good I would have it again. I went with the roasted aubergine dish and my wife had the vegan pizza. Both were spot on with portion size and quality. Staff aplogised for our small delay and we were given free drinks while waiting. I really felt like the customer service and quality of food were worth reviewing. We will be back for sure.

Just had a fantastic meal at The Italian for my husband's birthday. All the staff were very friendly and lovely. Our food was first class! Would definitely recommend for any occasion.

So glad my son put me onto this place! Our table was booked for 7:30pm on Saturday evening, so we obviously expected it to be busy. Staff said we were being seated upstairs and asked if that was okay. In all fairness, it was quieter upstairs, with tables further apart, so that was already a bonus! We ordered cocktails while we chose starters and mains, and our servers were polite, friendly, and accommodating - offering a different rum in a cocktail, to replace one that we weren't keen on. Our food was spot on! Really tasty and of a decent portion size too. Even though we were starting to get pleasantly full, we couldn't resist dessert, as they sounded so tasty. Let's just say the proof was in the pudding! Highly recommended and we'll definitely be visiting again!

Our family had our first experience of the vegan buffet last night and we're very impressed and would highly recommend it. The food was varied ,well presented and delicious. Such a magnificent spread ...and we enjoyed the warm and welcoming eenvironment too. We will definitely be back,thank you so much .

Had a wonderful experience at Ayubowan. Food was delicious! Starters were full of flavor and were a good variety to choose from. Lamb curry was also flavorful and tender. Good service and a friendly atmosphere.

We visited on Easter Sunday for the monthly vegan buffet - always on the last Sunday. You walk in up the stairs, which initially look and feel a bit grim - but persevere, and arrive at the restaurant. The decor was bright and reflected the Sri Lankan culture. We chose to sit in a booth which was comfortable and intimate. The service was excellent - attentive and friendly. The buffet was set out really well, everything was clearly labelled. The choice was fantastic, so many starters, mains, and desserts on offer; everything vibrant and fresh. The food was delicious and it was great to try so many different dishes. It’s all you can eat for £19.95 and you can definitely make the most of this as there is no feeling of being rushed. The vegan buffet starts at 2pm but before this there is an omnivorous buffet available. There is no cross contamination issues as there is a break between so all food on offer after 2 is definitely vegan. Highly recommended!
