French style bar/bistro in the centre of Wirksworth with good menu choices, specials board and lunchtime offer. Extra seating downstairs. Extensive wine selection. Only real downside was that we struggled to find anywhere to park nearby on a Friday night.

Three of us had a marvellous meal here on Friday evening. We each had different main courses and two of us had deserts. Together with a very good bottle of wine, I felt the bill was very reasonable. Looking forward to our next visit and thank you to all of your staff.

Came here for a Sunday dinner with friends. Was about £33 for two carveries so not bad. Was really impressed with the carvery in that there was 8 meat options, including how you wanted your meat. You could have rare beef, medium beef, gammon, turkey, medium lamb, well done lamb and a couple of others. You could also have a nut roast too. Love the variety of meats to suit everyone. The mash was also very good. Everything else was standard. The parsnips and carrots were not peeled, and they were plain boiled parsnips not honey roasted. The peas were on the crunchier side and I prefer my veg soft. They had cheesy leeks and cauliflower cheese. It is not very good for labelling as I knew not all the veg was vegetarian. The red cabbage was picked and not stated that was not nice. The roast potatoes were crunchy but a little dry. The Yorkshire was big but not my favourite. Was worth the try for the meat

Excellent cider selection with fifteen on the drinks menu! Plenty of seating outside and very dog friendly. Pizza oven out the back... menu looks good & at a fair price.

Had a thoroughly good evening here , some very good service and food was impressive. Had the dirty onion burger, and it was gorgeous, really high quality meat cooked with the slightest blush of pink, sauces and onions all complemented and enhanced the burger. Chips were proper chips one of the best burgers I've had in a long time.

My wife and I called here on a rainy Sunday afternoon, as the place where we had in mind was closed. We were greeted with a friendly welcome when we arrived and directed to a seating area. We both had the Sunday Carvery and weren't disappointed at all. There was a good selection of locally sourced meats, and as a nice touch, we could choose if we wanted the meat, rare, medium or well done. A good selection of hot fresh vegetables and the red cabbage was to die for. We both left with full bellies. On a separate note, there was also a good selection of hand pulled beers, for the beer lovers. Would I recommend and return. Definitely. I would. Probably one of the smallest and friendliest hotels I've ever stayed at. Food was outstanding and the lamb shank was one of the best "mains" I've ever eaten. Room we stayed in was quite basic, but had some nice touches of quality finish. Young blond female staff member who checked us in at reception was superb. Restaurant/waiting staff were also brilliant.

Fantastic stay, the room was perfect and really well furnished. The bed was so comfy and the bathroom was stunning. The service was incredible and I would definitely recommend the breakfast. The hotel is perfectly situated for beautiful walks in every direction and we really enjoyed visiting Cromford. There was literally nothing more we could have asked for from our stay thank you Oakhill.

I attended a work Christmas meal during an evening at the Oakhill Hotel. The location and hotel itself was excellent, with plenty of parking available. The service from staff was great, and everyone was very welcoming and friendly. The food looked and tasted amazing. Everything was cooked and presented perfectly. Overall this was a great experience at top class Hotel. I would definitely like to visit again.

I had the pleasure of staying in the oaks cottage for a weekend getaway in the beautiful rolling hills of Cromford. It was spotlessly clean and had the comfiest bed, a rainfall shower and was very tastefully furnished. After a walk at Black Rock (a must-visit!), kicking our boots off and relaxing in the warm cottage with a cup of tea in the lounge area was a great wind-down before an evening out. The kitchen invites you to cook up a storm, however we opted instead to take a stroll into the friendly town for dinner and enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the hotel restaurant the following morning. I had the English breakfast with fresh coffee and cold juice which was a perfect start to the day. The staff were so helpful and friendly and it was clear they wanted us to enjoy our stay and were happy to be there themselves. Overall this hotel was the perfect base for our Peak District getaway!

Came from hull to see how good there full English was .. definitely not disappointed lovely staff helpful and nice conversations with other motorbike riders a brilliant day out definitely recommend popping in

We arrived at 3pm on a Sunday, hungry, and tired from running in the Peak District. We were pleased to find a couple free tables, one indoors. We got the big smithy’s breakfast for a late lunch. The food was hot, and all cooked really well. The bacon, black pudding and oatcake were especially good - crispy, salty and rich! From the Big portions, friendly and quick service this meal was just the restorative and hearty food we needed.

Lovely place to stop and dine or just a cuppa and cake whilst passing through on our motorbikes. Friendly welcome and polite service, food and drink served promptly and was excellent. Cakes are delicious. Plenty of seating inside and out. Some places can be a bit selective or funny about visiting when riding motorcycles, pleased to say this one is friendly & welcoming, look forward to returning again soon. Thanks.

Great little cafe in a nice location. Can’t comment on the full menu, but the sausage cob was really nice, and a proper mug of tea to go with it. Look forward to sampling the other breakfast items and the cakes in the future

Fantastic atmosphere, food, drink and service, very accommodating and friendly owners. They were fully booked and somehow - very kindly - squeezed us in for an hour’s sitting. Amazing pies, fish and chips, ales and they were able to provide smaller portions for the children. Very reasonable prices and a lot of locally produced and sourced ingredients. Well done!

Three nights with a group of friends. My room was excellent. I didn't try any other pub in the village because the Inn was so good. Please note that the food is outstanding. The hosts Sammy and Joe are excellent 👍🏻

We visited for Sunday lunch with the family. Very welcoming place and prompt service. Food was cooked well and presented beautifully. Menu limited to Sunday dinner only, which wasn't a problem for the adults but the children in our party could have done with a choice.

Lovely cosy rooms. Helpful hosts with the booking in. Was pretty decoration. Pub very welcoming and cosy with a great roaring fire. Dog friendly. Lots of nice extras to the room like shower gel and tea/ biscuits.

Best of British, Best of the high peak! Just brilliant. Food, service, local folks, atmosphere - the team running the bar and restaurant are first class all the way. Best week's holiday across the street - made that way by this wonderful Pub and Restaurant!

Friendly, helpful staff. Pub was buzzing, but we were given plenty of room to sit. One item had run out but they provided a suitable alternative. Food not cheap, mains around £18, but good quality and tasty. It was curry night (Saturday) so there was an array of curries to choose on top of the menu choices which was nice. Slightly slow bringing wine and water as we’d nearly finished the food by then and fire went out quite early so the temperature went from boiling to chilly but minor points overall. Would recommend.

I was treated to an afternoon tea here for my birthday. The place itself is beautiful and the staff were lovely. The afternoon tea was good - the scones especially 😋 they were still warm and got plenty of cream and jam to spread on them. The only thing I didn't like was the filling in the sandwiches, I don't know whether you can choose other fillings or not as I wasn't the one that booked it but might be worth checking if you're a fussy eater like me.

We visited without a reservation and was welcomed to wait in the Bistro until the restaurant opened at 17:00. It is a beautiful setting, friendly staff, very good food at a reasonable price. The slide of beef was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy and the breadcrumbed brie amazing. A special thank you to Gabe and Becky who looked after us.

Went for a walk nearby to see some waterfalls, and noticed the Barrington. 8 of us and a dog and they were very accommodating, making up a table for us away from the main restaurant(as dogs weren't allowed in that side). Fantastic in every aspect, friendly attentive staff, nice decor and feel to the place, and delicious Sunday roasts and cocktails. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area

A little gem. On arrival, from the outside, the place looked promising … but you never know! First up, we had a smooth and friendly check in. Heading upstairs we entered our spotless and very spacious room - a lovely surprise and great value for money compared with other options in the general area - it was well-appointed and nicely furnished and with a large four poster bed. We debated whether to eat in or head out and chose to eat in and weren’t disappointed. The dining room is beautifully designed and laid out - the lighting is warm and atmospheric - and the food is clearly made with skill and passion - with each dish well executed - and not to mention the excellent wine - we had the Pinot Noir - and it was all very reasonably priced. The staff are friendly and considerate and created a relaxed atmosphere. All in all the owners are clearly on the ball and in this relatively modest price bracket they really managed to deliver a classy experience - thanks a lot!

Great service and great meal! Really enjoyed popping in here after going to Chatsworth. Cosy pub vibe on one side and lovely restaurant on the other. Also very well priced. Will definitely be back!

Came here with family for a meal recently and thoroughly enjoyed our meal and drinks. It has a cosy and interesting style with a proper log fire. The lady who worked there was lovely and very helpful. 11/3/25

Awesome food with great service. We ate here 4 nights out of a 7 night stay. One of these occasions was our wedding anniversary and we were greeted with complimentary fizz and a small decoration on our table. The food was just perfect. I couldn't ask for more from them.

Booked a last minute table for a Sunday roast as daughter was playing hockey locally. We were greeted by Jacob who was very upbeat and helpful. It was quite late in the day but we ordered 3 beef roasts and a nut roast. Plus some sides. Jacob was very efficient and knowledgable. My wife was persuaded to have a red wine which she thoroughly enjoyed. The food was delicious, we have had many pub roasts and this one was up in the top ten. Would highly recommend. Jacob was such a good host we thought he owned the pub! 😂 well done Jacob.

Oh my goodness! We demolished the best roast dinner we’ve ever had! The pork loin melted in my mouth and the Yorkshire…I wish I could just cacoon in one! Libby was such a great person, and waitress to come across. Really friendly and knowledgeable:)
