We decided to get a bit of last minute help for our daughter who was struggling with her GCSE English. Poppy was absolutely fantastic! She managed to fit us in for weekly slots at her busiest time of year, and was very accommodating. My daughter was suffering from extreme anxiety and Poppy was so calm, friendly and lovely to her, making revision much more understandable. What can i say, I feel we have found the perfect tutor. Maths GCSE Chess Physics We had been struggling with our year 6 son for a couple of years as he has a natural aptitude for mathematics and was not getting any challenge from school and disengaging. After talking with numerous tutors i found Tim and had the most positive engaging conversation and his passion was unbelievable. The relationship our Son and Tim have developed is truly amazing, so much so that we have now increased lessons to include chess and Physics.......If Tim taught sewing i am sure Oscar would engage 100% he is just that kind of guy that make everything interesting. We are so pleased that we contacted Tim to support our 12 year old son’s Maths learning. After some negative experiences of Maths in Year 6 and year 7, his confidence in Maths was low. Tim has made a huge difference in my daughter's A-Levels maths. She was really struggling to understand the jump from GCSE to A-Levels maths. Marta has been really beneficial to my son in the past 3 years, we started with Marta when my son was in Year 9, he is now in the midst of his GCSE's and asking me to book extras lessons. He has improved so much that he is now doing the higher level Maths paper. Marta is incredible she is very patience, happy to go over things several time and provide extra lessons. Marta is a truly wonderful tutor for children of all abilities. My son is profoundly dyslexic and was struggling with numeracy. Marta has helped him to realise that maths can be fun and numbers are nothing to be afraid of. She has a unique way of teaching to a child's specific needs which enables them to engage and enjoy the subject. Marta tutors me in maths and science at GCSE level. I have M.E/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and have been ill for over 3 years, this means I am unable to access mainstream education or medical tuition. Marta is brilliant at adapting to my changing health, she is able to teach her lessons in a way that I am able to remember the information. She has many techniques to help me achieve this, for example using coloured pens. She never gets exasperated even when I ask the same question many times, and will continue to explain it until I understand and am able to retain the information. Also she is very understanding even if I can’t always manage the homework due to my poor health. I thoroughly enjoy my sessions and learn a lot. I can’t recommend Marta enough, and she is especially brilliant if you have any extra needs.

We first came across Marta/Somerset Private Tutor when my Son was in Year 9 and struggling to access mainstream education due to Autism/Anxiety/School related Anxiety etc. We started off using Marta to help support my Son with missed lessons. Two and a half years later and my son has just completed GCSEs having been homeschooled for the last two years. Marta has educated him in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Without Marta's expert help we would not have got there. The level of service is superb and Marta was able to make adaptations to support my Son's individual requirements. The level of communication has been brilliant. The service is flexible to accommodate the individual child. We also had the added advantage that my Son's education was not disrupted during the Covid lockdowns as on-line lessons continued as normal. I am so pleased with how this has turned out for my son.

I can’t recommend Matt more highly. We signed up for maths tutoring with Matt fairly late in the year, with only about 6 weeks until the exams were to begin; mainly because our son was really struggling with confidence about his maths. The pressure to pass was making revision seem totally overwhelming. Matt was such a fantastic tutor. Not only did he help to make sense of the areas of maths which were a struggle, but he also subtly coached our son to have a positive mindset. Jane has tutored 2 of my children for the 11+ grammar school exams and I cannot recommend her highly enough. Both of my children lacked confidence in their ability and Jane made the lessons fun and something they both looked forward to. When it came to the exams both children were excited to be able to show what they could achieve - she taught them how to cope with the pressure, exam techniques as well as helping to strengthen their ability in math and english - both sailed through the 11+ and have continued to do well after such a fantastic grounding. I have already signed Jane up to help my youngest child when the time arrives. Jane is honest, incredibly diligent and genuinely cares deeply for the children she works with.

I had never heard of 11 plus before speaking to a very friendly gentleman named Peter. My son gets extremely anxious around change and wanted to sit the 11 plus but was late to the party. He ended up doing the mock exams and intense workshops during the summer. He sat the 11 plus and achieved a high enough score to apply for both schools. Now I can honestly say he would not have even completed the exam had it not been for Pete and Franny. They didn’t just put me at ease but more importantly my son felt comfortable and at ease. I thought it was going to be hard to get him to go and learn in the summer but he enjoyed it and the way it was all taught. Gemma has been working with our 10YO ahead of her 11 plus. Our daughter struggles with holding her attention on tasks and is a little dyspraxic. My 16 year old had missed 6 months of year 10 and was struggling in the run up to his GCSE's, with no extra support available. We engaged Alison (Maths) and Tracy (English Literature) at a very late stage for online tutoring, following a recommendation by a friend. They were both excellent and my son engaged really well with his weekly sessions. He was able to catch up on topics that he had missed and his confidence increased no end. I was a student with Kate for almost 4 years throughout which I learnt everything I needed to pass my GCSE exams at the end of year 11. Kate always found a way to explain something I didn’t understand which made it easy for me to remember further down the line, especially when I was unable to pick a method up at school.
