I had never heard of 11 plus before speaking to a very friendly gentleman named Peter. My son gets extremely anxious around change and wanted to sit the 11 plus but was late to the party. He ended up doing the mock exams and intense workshops during the summer. He sat the 11 plus and achieved a high enough score to apply for both schools. Now I can honestly say he would not have even completed the exam had it not been for Pete and Franny. They didn’t just put me at ease but more importantly my son felt comfortable and at ease. I thought it was going to be hard to get him to go and learn in the summer but he enjoyed it and the way it was all taught. Nicola at Forest 1st Tutoring managed to work wonders in getting our daughter up to speed in time for the 11+ exam. We left it very late in the day to start preparing and Nicola agreed to tutor across the summer term and summer holidays - primarily using group work with additional one-on-one sessions on top. The transformation in our daughter’s confidence and attainment was amazing. The tutoring would have been worthwhile regardless of the outcome as not only has she achieved a solid pass in the 11+, she has also been really well set up to make a happy and confident start to year 6.

Barney has been the most incredible tutor for my daughter. She started tuition with Barney during her Maths A level course. Barney has been an incredible tutor over the past year! During my A-Levels he has helped me to achieve a grade A in Maths and as a result I am now studying at Exeter University. One thing that separated him from other tutors which helped immensely, was his his willingness to help outside of our tutor hour. I was able to ask him questions from work he had set me or any other problems I was stuck on and he would get back to me quickly with an explanation, saving me time rather than waiting until our next session.

Barney is an excellent maths tutor. He is very knowledgeable and can answer and explain any question straight away. He is very organised knows the syllabus and how to attack it. He is also very patient and able to motivate his students. We were lucky enough to have Barney tutor my daughter with her A Level maths which we are both very grateful to him for all his help.

I cannot thank Mike enough. My daughter has been working with Mike for the past year in A-level physics. In year 12, physics was her weakest subject and teachers were struggling to predict her an A. Mike helped her to regain her love and confidence in this subject and regular sessions with Mike helped her to tackle the more complex problems in past papers which helped her with her confidence. She had her results yesterday and achieved an amazing A* and secured a place in her first choice Russell group university to study engineering. No doubt we will engage with Mike again to help tutoring my younger children and I can only recommend him as a physics tutor if your student is aspiring for high A-level grades.

A-level Maths tutoring. Mike was patient, calming and extremely encouraging the entire time he tutored with our son. They worked through papers together helping to grow our sons confidence in maths. Damian has been an invaluable part of my son’s EOTAS education for the past 4 years and at times I don’t know what we would have done without him. What a wonderful tutor! Full of enthusiasm and energy. He is a natural and passionate teacher explaining complex mathematical formula in a simple language that was set just right for my child. He was incredibly knowledgeable and up to date with the curriculum and content of different exam boards. He would always give 100% in each and every session. Leaving homework and tailoring each session to the students requirements. We had sessions once a fortnight to facilitate our budget which Damian was more than happy to accommodate. Nothing was ever too much trouble. An incredible tutor who I would always feel comfortable with in our home!

My daughter started seeing Damion in December after her mock result was a 2-. She’s just got her gcse results and achieved a 4! Damion is very patient especially when my daughter lacked confidence in maths, she said he explained things in a way she understood. Damion arrives very promptly with all the equipment they need in individual boxes numbered for each student. Damion regularly printed off past exam papers as ‘homework’ and went through her red/amber/greens with her to make sure she stayed on track. Really recommend Sum Maths!

We have been so pleased with how well our daughter has settled into the year 6 tutor group. Sophie has a lovely warm classroom enviroment and she is so approachable and makes learning fun. We are impressed with our weekly feedback with topics covered but also how much our daughter actually enjoys learning. Sophie also responds to any messages really swiftly and our daughter has also benefitted from some of her one to one sessions in the holidays. From the moment we first met Sophie we knew instantly we found the right tutor. Approachable. Kind. Understanding. My daughter couldnt stop saying how wonderful she was. Ive never seen her so excited to learn but i think thats because Sophie treats every child as an individual and meets their needs. Giving them the confidence to then thrive. I wish all teachers were like Sophie within schools because children would feel comfortable and happy and want to learn. Sophie is always on hand to help or offer advice outside of our sessions too. Signed up for my daughter. It’s a great revision platform. Live tutoring on various subjects but if she’s busy at the time, they are recorded so she can watch when it’s convenient. Also if she has an area she’s struggling on, Andy is wonderful at posting extra content to include this.

Tim has really helped my daughter with her math confidence. She was completely blocked when it came to maths. Tim has created a wonderful rapport with her and convinced her that math is not so terrible after all, I cannot stress enough what an achievement this is! Her teacher at school has seen improvements in her knowledge but mostly her attitude, which is so important.

We would highly recommend Tim and his team of fantastic teachers. We discovered that our 15 year old son was well behind in his Maths and Science six months before his GCSE exams. He was also going through a difficult period in school at the time. Tim, Sonja and Mustapha were very positive and encouraging and patient with him. Our son also found the lessons with them to be interesting and engaging and he was able to focus the whole time. What can i say, I feel we have found the perfect tutor. Maths GCSE Chess Physics We had been struggling with our year 6 son for a couple of years as he has a natural aptitude for mathematics and was not getting any challenge from school and disengaging. After talking with numerous tutors i found Tim and had the most positive engaging conversation and his passion was unbelievable. The relationship our Son and Tim have developed is truly amazing, so much so that we have now increased lessons to include chess and Physics.......If Tim taught sewing i am sure Oscar would engage 100% he is just that kind of guy that make everything interesting. Our son is now looking to take his Maths GCSE a few years early and that is all down to Tim. he is now engaged, passionate and looks forward to every lesson. Communication is fantastic, we have regular conversations and a lot of discussions about direction and progress. Jane has been tutoring my son and helping him with his maths and he has already made great progress in his learning in a short time. His confidence has improved and he is benefitting enormously from the one to one tuition and his time with Jane - her lovely approach and patience has had a great impact. Jane has tutored 2 of my children for the 11+ grammar school exams and I cannot recommend her highly enough. Both of my children lacked confidence in their ability and Jane made the lessons fun and something they both looked forward to. When it came to the exams both children were excited to be able to show what they could achieve - she taught them how to cope with the pressure, exam techniques as well as helping to strengthen their ability in math and english - both sailed through the 11+ and have continued to do well after such a fantastic grounding. Its great to have lessons and conversations with a native German speaker. The German study group is great fun and a lovely relaxed and welcoming atmosphere in which to learn from Christoph and the other members. I also have a private lesson to work on my speaking and listening skills. Its certainly helps when I visit Germany. Christoph are Gaby are great hosts for their German breakfast gatherings which I highly recommend.

Christoph has been helping my twins since September 2023, after trying an online maths tutor that would frequently cancel at short notice. Christoph has really engaged well with the twins, and although both of them struggle with maths, they find his help and direction invaluable. Christoph has also been extremely supportive to us as parents, in navigating any issues with schools and GCSE's.

Such a great mixture of fun and learning! Christoph and Gabi host regular gatherings; either for coffee, cake and German conversation-or for more structured learning, in their own unique style. Always sociable, but very effective!

I have been looking for a long time for somewhere to learn German where I feel encouraged, relaxed and able to make mistakes without judgement. I am so delighted to have found Rails Farm and Christoph and Gabby. They provide a welcoming, positive environment and Christoph is a wonderful tutor giving structured group classes with great knowledge, empathy and humour.
