Poppy offers fantastic tuition. She is reliable, friendly and creative in her teaching approach to get the best out of your child. She supported my daughter, who has moderate dyslexia, through her English GCSE’s in year 11, and as a result of her highly personalised approach, my daughter went up 4 grades. The benefits of Poppy’s teaching were also seen in many of the other subjects that my daughter studied because she was able to help my daughter develop strategies in her approach to reading, comprehension and writing and we saw her confidence develop beyond recognition. When you have a learning difference, it’s not just about the effect on education, it is also about self-esteem. I cannot thank Poppy enough for helping my daughter to realise that she can be a high achiever and a confident learner. Poppy’s approach means that my daughter has a very manageable ‘learning difference’ and no longer a ‘learning disability.’

Poppy has been working with my daughter who is ‘educated other than at school’ for 2 years now. Poppy makes lessons fun and engaging but also takes the time to really understand her students as individual learners. She can teach literally any subject, is reliable but most importantly, Poppy is incredibly patient and kind. We are now ready to sit exams - this wouldn’t have been possible without her support.

Poppy has literally changed my daughters life in Maths, before Poppy she had very little confidence in her own ability and was really struggling. As the subject has changed so much since I was at school, I too was struggling to help. Poppy tailors her tutoring style to meet her needs, and my daughter looks forward to her Marhs tutor session. I have seen my daughter’s confidence grow and grow to the point of moving up a set at school! I am so thankful to her for her patience, understanding and supportive qualities. I can’t recommend Matt more highly. We signed up for maths tutoring with Matt fairly late in the year, with only about 6 weeks until the exams were to begin; mainly because our son was really struggling with confidence about his maths. The pressure to pass was making revision seem totally overwhelming. Matt was such a fantastic tutor. Not only did he help to make sense of the areas of maths which were a struggle, but he also subtly coached our son to have a positive mindset. Having been hugely reluctant to begin his tutoring, he very quickly looked forward to the sessions and came away like a different person - much less stressed, and confident to tackle his exams. We are hugely grateful for the support!

My daughter has just finished her GCSE exams. She had maths tuition with Matt from February to the final paper last week. Due to weekly tuition with Matt we saw a considerable improvement in her overall ability, with a grade increase for her mocks in March. Matt makes his students feel relaxed about getting things wrong, does not pressure them and gets the best out of them. My daughter actually enjoyed the sessions, which is a first for her math's journey. Thank you Matt! I do not hesitate to recommend Matt to anybody looking for a Maths Tutor for their children.

My child was 2 years behind in maths at school. We had never heard of Kumon but an educational psychologist recommended trying it. Since starting we have not looked back. Just over 1 year later school have noticed a huge improvement and now mark my child as working at the level in maths. Our child’s confidence has improved as a result. The Kumon system works by doing a small amount everyday and gradually builds incrementally upon the maths skills they are secure in. We need to support our child with the books but becomes part of routine about 20 - 30 minutes each day. The twice a week lessons keep us on track and we can ask for help if we are getting stuck on anything at these. The tutors are great and take the time to explain to us how they teach concepts so we give the same messaging at home. The lessons and course continue over the holidays which has really helped our child to catch up. We are so pleased we have now started the English tutoring in addition. This is supporting our child being secure in fundamentals of English. Thank you we are so lucky to have found you !

Can’t recommend Marta highly enough! She was extremely helpful and understanding when our daughter needed to come out of school at the end of year 10 due to physical and emotional difficulties in attending school. She has worked hard with our daughter to find any gaps and weaknesses in her knowledge of the subjects (all 3 sciences and maths), and has built her confidence in her abilities. She is very kind, friendly, supportive and engaging both online and in her office.

5 Star rating! We first came across Marta/Somerset Private Tutor when my Son was in Year 9 and struggling to access mainstream education due to Autism/Anxiety/School related Anxiety etc. We started off using Marta to help support my Son with missed lessons. Two and a half years later and my son has just completed GCSEs having been homeschooled for the last two years. Marta has educated him in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Without Marta's expert help we would not have got there. The level of service is superb and Marta was able to make adaptations to support my Son's individual requirements. The level of communication has been brilliant. The service is flexible to accommodate the individual child. We also had the added advantage that my Son's education was not disrupted during the Covid lockdowns as on-line lessons continued as normal. I am so pleased with how this has turned out for my son.

Marta tutors me in maths and science at GCSE level. I have M.E/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and have been ill for over 3 years, this means I am unable to access mainstream education or medical tuition. Marta is brilliant at adapting to my changing health, she is able to teach her lessons in a way that I am able to remember the information. She has many techniques to help me achieve this, for example using coloured pens. She never gets exasperated even when I ask the same question many times, and will continue to explain it until I understand and am able to retain the information. Also she is very understanding even if I can’t always manage the homework due to my poor health. I thoroughly enjoy my sessions and learn a lot. I can’t recommend Marta enough, and she is especially brilliant if you have any extra needs.

Marta is a truly wonderful tutor for children of all abilities. My son is profoundly dyslexic and was struggling with numeracy. Marta has helped him to realise that maths can be fun and numbers are nothing to be afraid of. She has a unique way of teaching to a child's specific needs which enables them to engage and enjoy the subject. We are very happy with the tuition our daughter got from Richard last year. His lessons are tailored to every child's need; increasing in difficulty as the child progresses. Richard will spend extra time with a particular child if he/she needs extra help. Towards the end, the homework our daughter would get from Richard got harder, therefore our daughter found grammar school test not as hard and passed it easily. When our other daughter and son are old enough, we would happily send them to Richard for extra tuition. Linda and Alfred.

I used Tutor Doctor to help my daughter with her A-level chemistry. She needed to improve her grade with just 6 weeks to go until her mock exams. She had 9 hours of tuition and managed to get her grade from E/D up to a B which she was really pleased about. We will use this again next year as her final exams approach. Would definitely recommend
