Roast & Toast Cafe

Wharf House, Sowerby Bridge HX6 2AG, UK | Cafe

Rating: 4.8 (139) Price Level:

Lovely spot for a drink and snack along the canal. I had a mini vegetarian breakfast which was the perfect portion size to justify getting a cake for the walk home. The chai latte was delicious and the selection of Hip Pop kombuchas and sodas are great cold drink options. The menu is large, with a range of portion and dietary variations - I'll definitely be back to try more! Service was lovely and friendly, in a cosy setting on the canalside. The perfect pit stop when visiting Sowerby Bridge :)

First time visit to this cafe and what a gem! Ordered a cafetiere for two and a full English breakfast and a vegan breakfast. The food was delicious and the menu states it's locally sourced. The meat breakfast was 2 sausage, 2 bacon, mushrooms, tomato, beans , hash brown and toast for just under £10. Everything was good and fresh. The coffee is also local to the cafe and was a good cup full of flavour. I will visit again the future!

A lovely little find to finish off our quick visit to Halifax! Limited seating inside but the weather was nice enough to be outside. Service was second to none, so friendly without being intrusive. Breakfasts were beautiful. Cake indulgence will definitely be on the cards for the next visit! From “the love birds” xx

I have been here a couple of times now and i have to say this is the best bacon and sausage sandwich i have had in Sowerby Bridge. Plenty of meat in the sandwich, with your choice of bread (white, brown or granary) and reasonably priced as well. If your in need of a warm sandwich to take out (there are a couple of tables in the cafe) then this is the place for you.

Gimbals Restaurant

Rating: 4.8 (168) Price Level:

We recently hosted my Mum’s 60th birthday party at Gimbals. Janet, Charlie and the whole team were amazing throughout. They helped us plan a perfect event, with a personalised menu and went all out to make the venue look fabulous. Our guests were all amazed at the quality of food and the fantastic service. I can’t recommend Gimbals enough. If you’re looking for somewhere truly unique to host a special event this is the place. Thank you so much team Gimbals!

A wonderful eating experience from start to finish. The decor and vibe of the place is stylish and relaxed. Went as a party of 4 (and a half) , 2 vegans, 1 veggi and 1 meat eater and we were all catered for. We also had my 3 month old son, who I felt completely at ease feeding in the restaurant and the staff were lovely with. Absolutely amazing vegan food! There's an entire separate menu, giving you so much choice. Beautifully presented, tastes sensational. The staff are genuine, attentive and professional. Will definitely be back. Thank you for a special evening.

We've ordered their take away meal kits a few times now, when we get friends over it's the best way to have an incredible meal at home. Couldn't recommend it more highly. Drop in at a weekend and grab handfuls of their brilliant sweet and savory treats. Just started doing sandwiches which are divine.

Popular so booking ensures no disappointment. Parking very handy. Near train station. Bus route. Easy walk if you're local.

Staff were so welcoming and helpful. The food was really good and not over priced. Loved the newer options of a panini. The donut...sublime! So lucky to have this in our village.

Some of the friendliest and nicest people I've ever met, the doughnuts are out of this world and usually, when I go to a doughnut shop or cake shop, the coffee is so-so. Not here. The coffee is fantastic. The other drink options are also fantastic, to hot chocolates to frappés and milkshakes that are divine. The option for meal prep is just outstanding. Honestly, if you aren't going here to indulge your sweet tooth, you are missing out.

We dropped in for some coffee and donuts on our walk today and were really impressed. The donuts were amazing, they looked great with Halloween decs and they tasted even better, not too sweet but spot on. We had a milkshake and some coffees and the service was top notch. Thank you very much indeed 🙌

Excellent coffee, amazing meal preps which after a quick chat with Jonny he will advise which are best to achieve your goals and then you get to the donuts 🍩. I cant recommend the place enough if your working out and healthy eating wanting meal preps or on a cheat day and want a donut it has it all.

There is an awesome selection of teas as well as some beautiful items of clothing in the shop. Such a magical environment for the events too, with helpful friendly staff who serve with a smile. All in all a wonderful uplifting community vibe where everyone is welcome. Will definitely be visiting here again and will check out their social pages for upcoming events.

One of my favourite local cafés (during quieter periods). Great coffee and cakes but the service isn't as welcoming as at other local places. Today the barista appeared to "forget" about my order immediately after taking payment and simply ignored me thereafter. I had to ask another colleague to serve me as nobody else was preparing it on her behalf. Quite bizarre. If you can't be bothered with table service maybe have the courtesy to tell customers rather than leaving them sat wondering.

Lovely little tea room/cafe adjacent to a farm shop. Food all home made and freshly cooked. Love the English breakfast with two runny fried eggs. They also still have hand sanitiser dispensers on both entrances. Well done. Wish more still did

Lovely café with good food and good service. Coffee, tea, milkshake and lunches including a toastie, prawn sandwich, and a tuna mayo jacket potato, followed by home baked cake. And all for less than £30. Nice relaxed atmosphere, friendly hosts. Lovely deli attached to it with a selection of cheeses, pies, cakes, etc.

I came across this place today I was visiting some friends, a quaint little cafe with the most amazing home made cakes and food. The place was spotlessly clean and the staff were friendly and attentive. The food was lovely and hot and was of good quality. We had a breakfast and the fried eggs were lovely, NOT greasy and runny yolks. We got a pot of tea it was massive and for £2.50 it was enough for 4 cups between us, I've paid over £2.50 for a small cup in the high end coffee shops.i had a huge piece of brownie that I'd say was one of the best brownies I've ever tasted, and I was told they all home baked. The cafe is dog friendly too. I'll definitely go back, sadly it isn't on my doorstep otherwise I'd be eating cake there every day 🥰 if you in the area give this very reasonably priced cafe a visit, you will not be disappointed 😊

Delightful dog friendly cafe which hit the spot for breakfast of eggs hollandaise which I had with bacon and a side of two sausages, all bought from the butcher’s across the road. Super tasty grub with a pot of Yorkshire tea. My missus had a Mushroom Hollandaise and a Cappuccino which again was great. Staff are super friendly and will spoil your dog with strokes and a biscuit!
