Reviews
Super impressed with this new restaurant. I have visited various Boswells outlets in the past and have always enjoyed their wide-ranging menus and courteous staff. The newly opened Basingstoke outlet is no different, but takes things up a notch with a great location, attentive staff, fast service and the whole place was spotlessly clean. The cherry on the top was the pricing which felt good value for the portion sizes and fare on offer. Firmly recommend and hope to return soon for another of their lovely jacket potatoes (don't even get me started on the cake).
The food was good. The service better and the atmosphere friendly but extremely loud. I had breakfast from the Gluten Free menu. Would just like to point out that a really good quality sausage would be only meat and could then be added to the Gluten Free menu.
I went there today and was so impressed with how kind and friendly everyone working there was and how great the access is. I’m a wheelchair user and I was able to get in and around the cafe easily and chairs weren't too close together to get through like they can be in some cafes, I went to the counter and was able to order from the amazing staff who straight away said they would bring over my food and drink to the table and also helped move the chair from one of the tables and offered to bring over cutlery, napkins or sauces. In my wheelchair I could also get close to the table I sat at and get my legs under the table because it was at a good height (I use a manual wheelchair). The food was great and the maple spiced hot chocolate was amazing would definitely recommend. Such a friendly environment with lovely staff and it was so nice to see a cafe that seemed so understanding and aware of accessibility without even needing to ask. Felt incredibly welcoming and nice.
We wanted to try Boswell’s out because it was the new restaurant in Festival Place. We weren’t sure if dogs were allowed as we had our little one with us. We asked one of the staff who wasn’t sure (being new and all) who instantly went out of their way to find out. One of the managers let us know that dogs were welcome in the outside seating area (which is still indoors being in a shopping centre) so that was a bonus. There were no tables available however, but there was a lovely couple of ladies who allowed the manager to take one of the square tables away from their corner as they only needed the table for two, so the manager set us up and then also brought the dog a bowl of water. It isn’t often you feel so welcomed by staff, especially when it looks as though they were absolutely packed, but I couldn’t resist leaving this review because they were brilliant. Food and drink quality was super too.
Popped in on a Saturday morning for breakfast. Being one of the newer places to eat in Festival Place, it was suitable busy, but we managed to get a table outside with our dog and child. Dogs are allowed outside, but not inside. For service, you queue and order at the till, then food is brought to you. The queuing took about 10 minutes and within another 10 minutes, we had all of our order. Good quality food, with decent portions for a fair price. We shall be returning!
