“Wow! What an improvement since new ownership! Haven't eaten here yet but I've been told the food is amazing. Really love...”

My friend and I dropped in for a swift pint on a Monday morning...we were the only people in the bar, with the exception of the barmaid... and it was her first day!!! So obviously I can't comment on atmosphere and food. Very nicely and sympathetically restored during its last renovation, the pub has a real 'local' feel to it. I was very disappointed to see 'morning television' on the TV as I assume it could show sports? Listening to a lot of Woke commentators and watching celebrity LGBTQ definitely is not why I go to the pub. I assume that the barmaid was responsible for the channel choice? There are plenty of tables for eating, both inside and out in the small garden. The gent's toilets are spotlessly clean and shows attention to details in the cleaning regime. There is a nice fireplace which I assume would be a lovely centrepiece on a cold evening or daytime visit. This is a nice little venue and definitely worth a visit. They have a smallish car park... possibly spaces for 15+ cars and you will definitely not be disappointed with their drinks selection. On which I must say that prices are slightly north of average. My friend and I were in a pub in Fair Oak last Monday and 2 pints of Stella Artois came in at £8.50...today a pint of Amstel and a pint of cider came in at £11.40?... that's a whopping £3.90 difference!!! That said I would definitely go back and recommend a visit.

Had the pleasure of eating there on Friday afternoon. The service was fantastic and an extremely friendly experience. Chris the chef cooked the best fish and chips we had had in a long time. Met the new owner and really feel he is doing a great job turning this pub into somewhere we would definitely return to 👏👏

A really laid back and welcoming pub with a delicious Italian restaurant within it. The staff have the right attitude to see this business flourish. Clean refreshed decor, well kept beers and freshly prepared foods. Loved our time there.

We visit quite often for drinks but this is the first time we had eaten here. The new menu has lots of choice and the food is delicious. Prawn taco small meal was really tasty, with large prawns and really fresh sauce. Friday night offer is two fish and chips for £20. Food is beautifully presented and great service with friendly staff. Popped in for a quick drink Sunday lunchtime. Lovely warm welcome and lots of choice. We often find that on Sundays some pubs are less than welcoming as they are only interested in people dining in so it was nice to be able to relax and have a drink without feeling we were being rushed.

First visit to The Railway Inn. The outside of the building is so inviting, and the outside seating is just delightful, suxh a shame the weather didn't allow us to eat outside, so far, so good. Inside did not disappointed either! The place is massive, but doesn't look it due to lots of quirky areas, gorgeous, high, timbered, and vaulted ceilings. As for our roastie, 10 out of 10! We had the lamb, and, as well as there was loads of it, it was extremely well cooked and tasty! Well done all, we will be back. PS. Only downfall? They had not updated their menu prices on the Web so it was a couple of pounds more.

Beautiful pub with a nice menu. Service and staff were really friendly. My only minor markdown was the fact that I asked for a medium steak and it was charred and well done. As I had travelled 2 and a half hours for a business lunch, I didn't have the time to wait for another and didn't want to make my client wait. Everything else was perfect.

We visited Saturday 2 weeks ago, and we've been a few times, so we know we'll always have great food there. We didn't book, but they are always accommodating. First time I've had a pudding, and the chocolate tart was amazing. The staff are very friendly and helpful, a great pub and spacious, so you're not sitting on top of each other.

We were on a short break in the Botley area. We decided to go for dinner at the Railway Inn. You always take a gamble when you dine in an unfamiliar area. Going on reviews we usually take them with a pinch of salt. I am glad to say we had a great meal! The food was superb! My wife and three children all enjoyed their starters and mains. It is unusual that we are all delighted with our meals. The service was great too. I would highly recommend!

I used to go to a pub for over forty years but came in here and changed overnight.the staff especially the owners are real fun and actually interact with customers which makes a very rare change. I’ve eaten here a few times with all ages from my family ranging from 12-86 and all now want to come back. Cannot fault anything and the open fire when it’s cold is brill. I would describe it as a flowing pub which again is rate

Just enjoyed the Festive Set Menu for lunch - fabulous food and fantastic value at £28.50 for three courses. This is the second year that we've been for a Festive Lunch and we'll go again next year. We've eaten here many times and they've not let us down once.

Had a lovely lunch (Monday lunchtime) with friends to celebrate a birthday. Only two other diners eating, so it was like a private dining experience. Waiter was very attentive, but not annoyingly so. Gave us enough time to eat and chat, without long waits or rushing us out! Food was lovely too. Friends that had pasta were full, but managed deserts. Friend whose birthday it was had her desert arrive with a candle in it. Nice touch and unexpected!!!
