“I run out of superlatives for this place! It is exceptional. This menu yet again delivered exquisite food, beautifully served in perfect low-key and friendly surroundings. Every time we come we say it’s the best ever and indeed it was said again last night! This Chef is unbelievably good. We will return!”

“Had an excellent meal last night, staff were attentive but not intrusive. Drinks are fairly priced and they have a selection of local ales. Food from the grazing menu was excellent on every front. The notables were the cote du boef which was well worth the £40 charged and the blue Monday dessert which is blue cheese and a honey & ginger pastry. Spent £200 on a meal for two, so not an every week establishment but great for a treat. Definitely would come again as menu changes regularly.”

“Absolutely fantastic meal, we booked for Burns night and it exceeded our expectations! The service was brilliant from the moment we walked in, the team couldn't have been more helpful and genuine. The food was outstanding, presented perfectly and the starter that came with a treacle bread roll was perfect! Having the haggis paraded in with bagpipes was the perfect addition to the evening. It was a really great atmosphere and we will absolutely be going again soon. Couldn't fault a thing!”

“A positively faultless experience, easily one of the best hotels we've ever stayed in. Super lovely staff, immaculate rooms with romantic flair, one of the most comfy beds we've ever slept on! Courtyard access from the bedroom on the ground floor was delightful (and under-advertised - it was a very pleasant surprise!), room was super toasty and warm (but not stifling). Food was Michelin-star level good, and we felt spoilt for choice despite being vegan - easily one of the best meals out we've had over many years. All the theming and decor is stunning, so much thought and care put into making the place a perfect blend of modern/rustic. Can't recommend enough, the perfect domestic luxury break. Thank you so much for a perfect time.”

“Lunch We normally go to one of their other pubs nearby but that was taken over by a big concern. Since they took over the pub it has had extensive renovations including a beautiful outside beer garden and a lovely Orangery dining room. The menu has a diverse range of casual pub favourites with seasonal menu updates. For starters we chose King Prawn Cocktail - £10 Smoked Salmon Mousse, Toasted Sourdough. Not the usual way of serving as it was all served on a plate. BBQ Cajun Pork Belly Bites £9 Pineapple & Chilli Salsa. What made this dish was the delious sauce on the pork belly. Both dishes were topped with the dreaded pea shoots. Which adds nothing to the taste and is just decoration. Main courses were Steak Frites - £17 6oz Top Rump with Fries & Peppercorn Sauce. A pub classic which was very nice. Oh and topped off with pea shoots🤣 Can't remember ordering salad? Baked Salmon Fillet - £20.90 On a bed of creamy spinach & Smoked Salmon Spaghetti, Fresh dill. Oh,you guessed it pea shoots. The salmon was cooked perfect and the sauce with the pasta was delicious. The food was pleasant enough but nothing to write home about and yet here we are.🤣 With such a large menu for the kitchen to cater for it has been said by others, can be a bit hit and miss on occasion. But our visit on a quiet lunchtime was pretty good. The pub is a lovely place to visit if you fancy a drink and maybe something to eat. They do fresh pizzas to order in a proper pizza oven. You can even dine in their outside garden rooms when the weather is fine. The staff were friendly and very accomodating.”
