Came here for Iftaar and had such a great time.The food was authentic Syrian and so delicious and fresh.The staff very friendly and the atmosphere was fantastic.Will definitely recommend to anyone who likes Middle Eastern cuisine

Great place, service and amazing food. If you haven't been before I would definitely add it on the list of places to eat at and I'll grab the bill if you didn't like!🤣 Ps. Don't sit on the doorway side, can be a bit chilly when cold outside. Enjoy the great experience

Wanted to visit here for a while now especially because all I have heard are fantastic things about KAYI Mezze & Grill and everything I had heard was spot on. The food was amazing, the staff were fantastic and the atmosphere was lovely. It was very easy to forget that you were in Mickleover and it was easy to imagine you were on holiday. There were 4 of us dining, 2 of us are Vegetarians. The menu has Vegetarian, Nut Allergy and Gluten signs stated which was amazing (the desserts are also vegetarian we did have to ask as this wasn't labelled). We had the Cold Starter Mezze to share, the portions were very generous between the 4 of us. All the food was amazing and the portions were great, we were very full. We couldn't leave without trying a couple of desserts the Baklava being our favourite one. We were also given some complimentary Turkish Tea as well which was lovely!! The only thing I would recommend is perhaps a rubber ring around the tea? The server seemed like he was really struggling with the temperature of the glass cups (no handles) and they were very hot when we touched them so I do think it would be in their best interest to adapt the cups slightly just so the server and customer are comfortable. Some of the staff were very young like other reviews have stated so when we asked certain questions they weren't sure but they always went and asked another member of staff which we thought was great, it is a learning curve at the end of the day and we appreciated them asking instead of just guessing. Toilets were clean as well (my Mum said they were very stylish too!) Very enjoyable and would 100% go back. It's a great asset to Mickleover and Derby. It's about time we got something different, tasty and enjoyable in the village.

Without doubt the best meal I have had during my time working in Derby. The restaurant is beautifully presented with polished clean tiled floors, lovely looking stone cladding and an amazing BBQ set up where you can watch your food being Cooked. The mixed grill was delicious. The chicken was cooked just right with a BBQ flavour that didn't dry the meat. I will be returning to KAYI once a week during my stay in Derby as it is only a 5 minute walk from the Mickleover court hotel. The service was also very friendly and accommodating. Thank you for such a good experience.

Our second time here, first time trying the grazing menu. Food was absolutely outstanding. Louis made our experience special and memorable. Sam and Sadie were very efficient too. Totally recommended. Big thank you for our Instagram competition prize.

The Lighthouse's Summer 24' menu is extraordinary . We thoroughly enjoyed all dishes which went very well with the drinks pairing. Every dish, from the Japanese Milk Bread with butter to the Orkney Scallop with massaman and chili lime cashews, was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. Overall, the Summer menu at The Lighthouse is a testament to their culinary excellence and I'm looking forward to returning again soon.

My partner and I had a wonderful experience here last night celebrating a belated anniversary. The food was incredible - our particular favourites were the 4 courses to start and the two desserts, but we weren’t disappointed with even one dish. The service was another highlight, everyone was very attentive and polite, however one of the service staff in particular (I apologise for not remembering her name!) went above and beyond with her drink recommendations, her attitude and conversation, answering any questions we had, and thoroughly helped elevate our experience even more! I cannot wait to come back again to try their different seasonal menus, this has been a real find and I really hope they get their Michelin star soon as they really deserve it. Thank you for such a wonderful and memorable evening!

Great food served by friendly and helpful staff. We prebooked a table for a Friday evening as it is known to be busy, we were welcomed with a smile, served our drinks and shown to our table. When we ordered the service was quick and efficient. The waitress then returned to confirm if we were satisfied and later returned to offer us the desserts menu. Only slight issue was that the bar was crowded by drinkers when it came to paying the bill. We will definitely be back again soon.

A wonderful midweek birthday meal! The team went above and beyond for us—from the thoughtful birthday card waiting at our table to the warm, friendly service throughout. We ended the evening with a surprise treat: a rich and delicious triple chocolate birthday pudding. Such a lovely, unexpected touch that made the evening feel truly special. Thank you!

Fabulous pub. A group of 9 of us went on Tuesday Night is Pie Night. We had such a huge choice of homemade pies, sides and gravies. Nutella Cheesecake, Trifle and Sponge Puddings were superb as well. The service was outstanding, the young lady who served us was an absolute superstar. I had Chicken and Chorizo Pie, Cheese and Bacon Mash, Chips Shop Mushy Peas and Gravy. It was so good. I was driving, so they even made me a pot of tea.

We went here for mine and my partners 4 year anniversary meal, what she didn't know was that it was also a proposal meal too!! She said yes!! I rung up prior to us coming to make special arrangements to make the moment even more special and the staff here really did just that!! Sat us infront of a Christmas tree and played our song alongside at my request. Once she said yes the staff provided us with a complementary bottle of bubbly and a congratulations card which was so nice of them to do that! The food itself was absolutely amazing! My partner had the venison and red wine pie, which she said was the best she's ever had! I had the 9oz burger which was thick and juicy. The caramelised onions were to die for too! And don't even get me started on their home cooked chips!! The atmosphere was really nice! Seeing as it was bad weather that day the whole pub felt warm and welcoming! It was refreshing to go into a proper tradition pub that has an open fire and the dark wood furnishings to match! All of the history of the pub in picture as you walk in was nice to see too! My only improvement which does not at all ruin the experience at all was the toilets, they need abit of tlc. Overall I couldn't thank the staff enough for making our special meal even that little bit more! Will definitely be coming back in the future and would highly recommend for anyone!!

Absolutely excellent pub. Service really was first rate, Michelin star-like. Goats cheese starter was very fresh. Can’t go wrong with a pint of Marstons Pedigree. Two EV chargers in the car park.

Visited Wednesday 19th July 2023, early evening. Easily one of the best restaurants in the area and one of the best I've eaten at in a long time. Food quality is outstanding, the menu is seasonal; however, there's a sample menu online to get an idea of what's on offer, there's also two options, an a la carte and a fixed price. Vegetarian, vegan and dietary requirements can be catered for. Whilst the food is definitely upper tier the prices are not much more than most other restaurants and represents excellent value for money. The place itself is based around an old country pub with an excellent garden outside providing dining outdoors, they also have a number of cabanas with heating. Service is outstanding; however, it's an informal place so whilst everyone is polite and professional it's also relaxed. Well worth visiting.

A beautiful place, out in the middle of nowhere. Lovely decor, friendly staff and fantastic food. A little pricey but worth every penny once you taste the food and get all the wonderful flavours your mouth. So if you're on a budget maybe try somewhere else. However if you're after marvellous food look no further.

Absolutely fantastic meal, we booked for Burns night and it exceeded our expectations! The service was brilliant from the moment we walked in, the team couldn't have been more helpful and genuine. The food was outstanding, presented perfectly and the starter that came with a treacle bread roll was perfect! Having the haggis paraded in with bagpipes was the perfect addition to the evening. It was a really great atmosphere and we will absolutely be going again soon. Couldn't fault a thing!

Best customer service in England so far, never seen such well-mannered young staff working in a restaurant. Staff knew the menu very well, and the suggestions were amazing. The food was delicious and fresh. Portions are quite big. We requested a small candle for a birthday, something that is not on the menu. The waitress came with the cake singing happy birthday. How nice and lovely! Thank you to the management for having such a lovely team and a great chef!

Very nice small restaurant. We came there without booking on Sunday evening and staff found a table for us. I ordered lamb shank, which was perfectly tender with mash potatoes and vegetables. My wife took rib eye stake, which was the best that we had for a long time travelling around the country. Lovely chocolate brownies for desert. Definitely recommend!!!

Recent years has been variable quality but the recent owners have made this a fantastic place to eat and drink ...great food and fantastic atmosphere

Only just off the beaten track; a real hidden gem! First but definitely not our last visit - generous, hot, and very tasty food. Sunday roast today; pie next time. Great staff, friendly and attentive. Highly recommended!

The fish and chips was perfect, one of the best I've ever had, plus homemade tartare sauce. We also ordered the steak and ale pie and that was just as good. Chocolate orange cake was amazing. Definitely worth a detour if you're coming back from the Peak District after a hike!

Really nice food (chips are lovely) staff are nice and welcoming and the wood burning fire was a welcome site. The pub is dog friendly and if you're lucky you'll meet Brian the black lab 🐾 The food and drinks are reasonably priced and cooked fresh. If I was to offer any advice to the owners, adopt an online booking process as the only one I could find said the pub was closed everyday so wouldn't allow bookings. We had to call but couldn't get through on the first few tries although you did call back 👍🏻 We would visit again if we were in the area so definitely recommended. Thanks again.

Last night, we had the pleasure of being served by Katie. From the moment we sat down, she greeted us with a warm smile and a friendly attitude. She was attentive without being overbearing and that made sure we had everything we needed. Her recommendations were spot-on, and she made sure to check in on us at just the right moments. Katie’s upbeat energy and professionalism even when she was clearly very busy made our night even more enjoyable. Thanks to her, we’ll definitely be coming back!xx

Joiners Arms made my birthday unforgettable! The staff went above and beyond—service was exceptional, and the food was absolutely divine. One of my friends had the vegetarian options and loved them, while the rest of us enjoyed the delicious chicken skewers and pizza. Every dish was a feast for the eyes and the taste buds! The desserts were fantastic, and the cocktails? Perfect. They even served the Prosecco ice-cold with fresh strawberries—such a nice touch. The whole team exceeded our expectations, making the celebration truly special. We’ll definitely be back and can’t recommend Joiners Arms enough!

We visited here with our daughter who has visted here previously and I couldn't fault anything. The service was great, especially by Brad', and there was a lovely atmosphere and very attractive decorations. All the staff seemed pleasant and helpful; which isn't always the case in this type of restaurant. The food was superb and great value for money and our fish and chips was beautifully presented, as were all the meals. It's just a shame that we live so far away in East Devon as we'd be regular visitors otherwise. Well done.

Opted for a pizza and garlic bread to share. The garlic bread could have done with being cooked a little longer and both had way too much semolina/cornmeal or whatever they'd used to help it not stick to the paddle which gave it a gritty texture. Wasn't bad overall and the food is usually really good so putting it down to an inexperienced pizza maker!

A gem of a place. Great indian food, more traditional than I was initially anticipating but that was a very pleasant surprise. Everyone was lovely and the pub itself was nice too. Food took a while but this was probably due to the large party we were part of. I’ve no doubt with a healthy size on the norm, it would have been fine.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon. A traditional pub serving Indian and British food. Was quite busy but had a good atmosphere about, with sky sports on the TVs and a pool table. Menu has a small but decent selection of food which was on our table in about 10 min. Had a regular mixed grill with salt and pepper chips, dipping sauce and naan bread. Portion size is unbelievable and is plenty to fill empty tums, so make sure you're hungry. The pub is clean with a decent selection of ales and lagers located just outside the city centre. Decent price for what we ordered. We didn't need to book a table in advance but may need to on a Sunday afternoon. Overall highly recommended.

I was recommended the woodpecker for curry by a friend and decided to give it a try. Well what can I say- this was one of the best curries we've ever had and that's a statement from us curry lovers. I had the lamb desi curry and it was absolutely delicious. Our waiter Louie was great, he was very kind and friendly, adding to our amazing evening. We will be back soon and I will be spreading the word about this gem. (All written in my own words not chatGPD louie ha ha) thanks guys.

Went for Boxing Day carvery and it was amazing! The dining room looked gorgeous and had a beautiful big tree. The food was so delicious and the staff were all very friendly and attentive. We had never been out for a Boxing Day dinner before and we are so glad we picked the Oak. Cannot fault and will definitely be booking up for next year. Thankyou to all the staff for working on Boxing Day and making it fantastic for everyone who went there.

Stopped here for lunch today. Easy parking. Very welcoming young woman behind the bar told us fine to bring in the dog and gave us a table near the fire. I had a braised beef balti (£14.95 ) which was very pleasant and more than I could eat. My wife had a ‘small’ lasagne which was quite a good size, which she enjoyed (£8.95). Good inexpensive pub food. Excellent and fast service to table. Very decent coffee to follow. Really good clean loos as well. When we left we took a short walk along the river from the car park. All good. Recommended!

We received warm welcome, the food was amazing and the large double bed was super comfy. The creaky floorboards and uneven floor in the bedrooms added to the charm! Lovely bedding, with a rabbit theme throughout. Would recommend!

Lovely pub, excellent service and phenomenal food! We went on curry night! The lad who spoke to us on the phone said it was fully booked but he could squeeze us in, which was lovely. The curries were absolutely delicious!! Will definitely be back again!

Went over for lunch today and what an experience. The staff were all friendly and attentive. The food was incredible! We ordered a lot as the menu had some delicious options. The lamb chops were my favourite and after speaking to the staff I found out they were locally sourced too. The menu also had some vegetarian and gluten free options which was great. The quality was amazing and the flavours were rich and tasty. The spice levels were perfect and I still can't get over the flavour. Highly recommend if you're passing through or local.

Stayed a few miles from here for a week, but enjoyed the outdoor space (great weather) and hospitality, we came for a drink most days. If you like Indian food, don't make the assumption this is pub grub trying to do Indian, the "lamb curry in Mums special sauce" is to die for, great flavours it beats any Indian restaurant I've ever been to. We bought take out, and a portion to bring home it just leaves you wanting more.
