My first visit was an extremely pleasant experience because the staff are so happy and humourous and my coffee ☕️ was good. This establishment has a happy, relaxed and informal feel, just as it ought to be. I'm not surprised that it is so popular. This cafe is worthy of five star approval.

The place where the love for the outdoors and great food collide. Whether you want to start your hike off strong with a great breakfast, or top up the fuel before a big climb on the bike. The adventure cafe's passion for wholesome food and the love of the outdoors, makes it a staple for any Peak District visit. At a time when lazy menus and edison lightbulbs are abundant in many cafes. The adventure cafe delivers authenticity from the hills to the plate.

Stopped for coffee and cake. The cafe has a very pretty exterior and we sat outside. The cakes were excellent. We had a very enjoyable time.

Excellent Sunday lunch. Great selection. Perfectly cooked. Front of house staff were friendly and efficient and we weren’t rushed. And Jasmine got the order right for the person who needed changes to the menu. Thank you!

The online table booking process was quick and easy. Although the pub was VERY busy, we didn't feel rushed and was given time to browse the menu over a drink. The staff were polite, helpful, and professional. It would be nice if therep were more menu choices for vegetarians, but what we ordered was delicious! Thank You

Fantastic little find - staying on a local campsite, another pub on our route wasn’t dog friendly so continued onto here. Superb welcome, dog treats on the bar, beer is served well and a steak is on order. Will definitely return (probably tomorrow) A real nice pub - recommended

Popped in here for lunch, party of four plus two dogs. Very friendly staff, freshly cooked food and delicious desert. They had a vegetarian menu and doggy menu which were nice touches. I had the lentil and cauliflower pie from the specials board which was lovely. Will definitely recommend paying them a visit.

Cosy place, the fireplace will make you feel like at home, traditional looking pub withe great food and nice drinks selection. Plenty of parking available and lovely staff

Just had a great night in here(26/04/2025). They catered for our group of 50 friends and family all together in one sitting. Amazing food, great service. The pub itself is very nice too. It's definitely worth visiting!

2nd visit to the area and this pub last night and once again can't fault it. Service is absolutely fantastic, greeted warmly, our dog was fussed over and welcomed, brought a water bowl. The food and drink is really tasty, well presented and a good selection. We will be back to camp nearby purely to go to this pub again! Well done Anchor Inn and staff (esp the lady with the blue hair who is amazing 💙)

Was very pleasantly surprised by this place. We got there early on a Sunday and there was a warm and welcoming feel to the pub. I had the Sunday roast lamb which was cooked perfectly and accompanied by equally well cooked sides. The staff were helpful and talkative and overall it felt like a brilliant pub with some brilliant food to accompany it. Dog friendly too which is always a bonus!

Such a gem! The staff were warm and welcoming. The food was so good and worth the money. Pie was absolutely crammed with tasty meat. Burger was fresh and juicy! The brownie would rival the best of Bristol Brownies, so is well worth having! Only improvement is that they should have more local beer on tap!

Dropped in on a Sunday, without booking, and totally blown away by the atmosphere, friendly service, and amazing food. We had mackerel bruschetta, duo of beef roast, steak frites and the bakewell pudding. Would highly recommend and looking forward to our next visit. Thank you!! 😊

Fantastic food and service! Pan fried chicken, vegetable soup, asparagus salad and sticky ginger pudding were all top notch and wonderfully presented. I highly recommend!

Between adult us we had four different main meals, one side order & one pudding on 2 different occasions recently. The Chicken & Ham Hock pie was very tasty & moist. The "Famous" pie was also good though I struggled to find the bacon & black pudding. The Sunday Roast was superb apart from the bland mashed potato. The big burger was very good & filling. Elsewhere the garlic bread was tasty but the bread & butter pudding special lacked flavour but was a generous portion. All in all I wouldn't hesitate to eat & drink there again. The surroundings are homely & clean. I love the Laurel & Hardy pictures in the toilets. The ale is well kept & the staff are friendly & efficient, particularly the hard working Landlady & young waitress. It has it's own car park opposite.

I came here for a beautiful lunch with my brother and his wife. I was keen to try their famous pie and it was so delicious. The meal was very filling too and the atmosphere here was lovely. The service was good. I will have to go back and try the fish and chips one day as my sister in law loved it!

We visited yesterday evening for the first time in ages, I had steak and ale pie, my partner chicken and ham hock pie. Both meals were delicious but we would have preferred puff pastry rather than shortcrust as the pie lids. Beautiful place to enjoy a meal and a few drinks, staff excellent too

Located on the main road as you enter into the centre of Castleton.Visited a few times over a couple of days for food and drinks. Very historical old pub/hotel. Beautiful cosy old fashioned pub vibe to the place. Service was welcoming and friendly. We had breakfast and evening meals. Food was good at a reasonable price. A few little things could be improved but overall still definitely one of the better pubs in Castleton and worth a visit.

We dine in without any reviews searching, just because of way back from Derwent Dam , saw very sharp orange colour parasols, and found a public car opposite area . While sit on felt good for the outside dining area , and foods menu look interesting,first time saw soft-shell crab dishes on Pub foods . Delicious beyond my expectations on both meals . My wife meals with real King-prawn . They with a very high standard chef and kitchen team member . Thank you for let us with a gorgeous lunch . Servicing staff also very good . Highly recommended, and we’ve told many friends after the dining . 50mins to drive here from home, but will plan come again .

Boxing Day after a walk round Hathersage we called into the Bank House sat outside in the teepee nice and festive. The food menu looks good, but we only called in for hot drinks. Will call in for food when next in the area.

Fresh ingredients, vibrant flavours and overlooks the peak district. I only wish their service did match up to the high standards set by the chef - we arrived 10 minutes before our reservation and understandably they asked us to wait in the bar. We had to remind them around 15 minutes past our reservation time to get us to the table. The table service following this was much better and the food did make up for this rather cursory attitude at the front door.

Stopped here for some food after a 5 mile hike in the Peaks! This was the perfect location with a lovely beer garden, the food was incredible and a very refreshing drink in the sun I would come back again!

Stayed here on a drive north and it was a very lucky find! Lovely country inn in a quiet spot at the edge of the village. Stayed in a beautiful room which was excellent value. Tasty food in a sunny outdoor area. Happened to be on a pub quiz night which was fun! Very handy for Stanage Edge, either a short drive or a scenic walk. Comfortable and friendly stay.

Just enjoyed an excellent Sunday Lunch. Care had been taken with every element. One of the best pub roasts I’ve had. Great service and superb value, considering the quality.

After a climb on the edge, a pint of Guinness is needed to unwind, and the Scotsman pack is a perfect facilitator to help with that. It hasn't failed me yet. There is some outside seating available for warm sunny days . I haven't eaten from there menu yet but from what I've seen it looks and smells delicious. Parking however is limited both on the premises and in the lane so park respectfully. I'm sure dogs are welcome.

To be honest, I was just a bit unsure about paying £19 for fish and chips but I was really impressed when my plate arrived. Beautiful piece of fresh haddock in perfect batter served atop good chips and alongside proper mushy peas. My son had the same and was also impressed. Beer quality was good too, nice pint of Asahi , but I was a bit underwhelmed by ale selection hence my choice of lager; that is not a reflection on quality of ale just on what was being offered for my taste buds. Would love to revisit. Sorry no pics.

Fantastic pub, excellent menu and food quality was superb, great choices of beer and wine and really loved staying here. 1 star dropped for room with minor niggles ( noisy and hot first night) and 'office ' blinds were damaged in places, think needs a refresh. Otherwise I cannot recommend this place enough. If you are planning on staying around Hathersage and don't stay here you are stupid!

I love this pub. Bob / Elliot and the team have done an amazing job here over the years and source only the best ingredients. We make a special trip there regularly. The pricing of £x for one course, £x for 2 courses etc is good but it does hinder me from buying extra veg? The sun was shining and the doors were open and I’m not sure the chefs realised how cold that was making the food?

Just got back from this lovely pub having stayed with my partner and my little dog Annie . We stayed 4 nights and nothing was too much trouble . Food and hospitality was 10/10 . Location perfect . Surroundings and views fantastic. Would definitely recommend

The food is outstanding – fresh, high-quality ingredients prepared with real care and attention to flavor. Every dish we tried was delicious and beautifully presented.
