We first came across Marta/Somerset Private Tutor when my Son was in Year 9 and struggling to access mainstream education due to Autism/Anxiety/School related Anxiety etc. We started off using Marta to help support my Son with missed lessons. Two and a half years later and my son has just completed GCSEs having been homeschooled for the last two years. Marta has educated him in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Without Marta's expert help we would not have got there. The level of service is superb and Marta was able to make adaptations to support my Son's individual requirements. The level of communication has been brilliant. The service is flexible to accommodate the individual child. We also had the added advantage that my Son's education was not disrupted during the Covid lockdowns as on-line lessons continued as normal. I am so pleased with how this has turned out for my son.

Marta is a truly wonderful tutor for children of all abilities. My son is profoundly dyslexic and was struggling with numeracy. Marta has helped him to realise that maths can be fun and numbers are nothing to be afraid of. She has a unique way of teaching to a child's specific needs which enables them to engage and enjoy the subject. With her wealth of knowledge of the education system she has been a great support in helping us get our son the help he so badly needs.

Marta tutors me in maths and science at GCSE level. I have M.E/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and have been ill for over 3 years, this means I am unable to access mainstream education or medical tuition. Marta is brilliant at adapting to my changing health, she is able to teach her lessons in a way that I am able to remember the information. She has many techniques to help me achieve this, for example using coloured pens. She never gets exasperated even when I ask the same question many times, and will continue to explain it until I understand and am able to retain the information. Also she is very understanding even if I can’t always manage the homework due to my poor health. I thoroughly enjoy my sessions and learn a lot. I can’t recommend Marta enough, and she is especially brilliant if you have any extra needs.

She was extremely helpful and understanding when our daughter needed to come out of school at the end of year 10 due to physical and emotional difficulties in attending school. She has worked hard with our daughter to find any gaps and weaknesses in her knowledge of the subjects (all 3 sciences and maths), and has built her confidence in her abilities. She is very kind, friendly, supportive and engaging both online and in her office.

Amelia has been helping me prepare for university Maths for the past year and a half. She has been extremely helpful in teaching me so much that my school never taught and my understanding of Maths is at a significantly higher level because of it. Jane has tutored 2 of my children for the 11+ grammar school exams and I cannot recommend her highly enough. Both of my children lacked confidence in their ability and Jane made the lessons fun and something they both looked forward to. When it came to the exams both children were excited to be able to show what they could achieve - she taught them how to cope with the pressure, exam techniques as well as helping to strengthen their ability in math and english - both sailed through the 11+ and have continued to do well after such a fantastic grounding. We enlisted Emily's service as The Reading Doctor to help our 8 year old with reading and spelling. School had noticed that they needed some extra support, and so, alongside doing more at home, we found Emily - and we are so glad we did! Emily took time to listen to what we needed, and develop an individual plan for our child. The reading room in her garden is cozy, warm, and made for learning and fun. Our child particularly enjoyed the games inbetween tasks, too. I had never heard of 11 plus before speaking to a very friendly gentleman named Peter. My son gets extremely anxious around change and wanted to sit the 11 plus but was late to the party. He ended up doing the mock exams and intense workshops during the summer. He sat the 11 plus and achieved a high enough score to apply for both schools. Now I can honestly say he would not have even completed the exam had it not been for Pete and Franny. They didn’t just put me at ease but more importantly my son felt comfortable and at ease. I thought it was going to be hard to get him to go and learn in the summer but he enjoyed it and the way it was all taught. I contacted Anne around 6 months before the GCSE exams. Anne gladly accommodated my twin daughters together in one session and nearer to exam time, at our request, individually. Both my girls lacked confidence in Maths and needed a boost to help improve their borderline grades.
