I spent yesterday with Colin and it was a fantastic day. I am a complete novice. I bought a lathe but wanted some basic skills to help me in my new hobby. I specifically wanted to learn to turn bowls and Colin tailored the day to my request, which was great. Colin has a huge amount of experience and he taught me things you can’t get from Youtube. Sometimes it was a subtle shift in the height of my elbow or turning the end of the bowl gouge 1mm made all the difference. My wife was so kind to buy me a wood turning course for my birthday, which was a 1 day course with Colin. Colin is a really nice man and great teacher, clearly knows his craft. The day was really enjoyable and I learnt a great deal from Colin's 35 years of experience! I went home with my first piece, a lovely Ash bowl! I would highly recommend anyone who is interested in learning the craft to attend his course.

Colin is a wonderful instructor. I really enjoyed the one day wood turning course and very pleased with the outcome. It was great to learn a new skill. It’s not as easy as you’d think but with Colin’s guidance all came good.

Fantastic half day workshop lesson with Colin. This was primarily for my teenage son who saw Colin's work at Wisley Craft Fair and wanted to learn more. I attended as well. Colin's professionalism and care and love of this craft was obvious in the preparation for the day (agreeing what was achievable and most enjoyable to make in four hours) and on the day itself. He has a brilliant calm approach to teaching and we were hands on very quickly learning different techniques and giving it a go. Everytime we thought we had messed something up Colin showed us how to fix it and was very positive and encouraging throughout. The time flew by. Thank you Colin, an inspiring session.

I wish I could give 10 stars. I commissioned Colin to make a wooden urn for my Dad after he passed suddenly and unexpectedly last year. After a few zoom consultations and emails back and forth, Colin took my ideas and vision, inputed in own and created a beautiful urn just as I had imagined. Made in English walnut, it has a bespoke handmade solid brass cross on the front, with my Dads initials hand carved underneath and a bespoke brass nameplate on the back. The final piece truly special and fit for my Dads last resting place. I cannot recommend Colin's expertise and skills enough. He is a true craftsman who cares about the story, the intent and the final outcome. Colin has so many beautiful items - (other than urns!) in his online shop too, and I'm sure I'll be purchasing some of the chopping boards in the near future. I've chosen not to share a photo of the piece here since my Dad's ashes are now inside, though I believe Colin should have photos on his website. Otherwise, you'll have to take my word at how beautiful the piece is! Thank you Colin for making something so special with such care and respect.
