The best coffee in Tooting and Balham, such friendly and great service. I have been visiting Mike for a few years now and wouldn't go anywhere else for coffee, it's wonderful to support a small business! His customers and coffee mean so much to him and you can really tell he loves what he does. If you haven't been yet I would highly recommend.

I’ve drunk a lot of coffee in London and I would say this is definitely one of the top 5! The coffee was perfect temperature, excellent taste and the man who owns the place was so friendly and kind. Would 100% recommend.

The best coffee in Tooting and Balham by far. All made from a little coffee truck with the friendliest owner / barista. We've also started to buy the coffee beans from here as they're great. Would recommend the cinnamon buns too!

Hands down the best coffee shop in Tooting. They provide such a real sense of community! The staff is super friendly and cool; the coffee and pastries are amazing and!!!! they have the best selection of cakes in the world. Seriously, one of the best coffee shops I’ve been to. Also!!! Really nice drinks and events!!! highly recommend!!!!

Nice coffee shop in Tooting, good atmosphere and vibes. They sell craft beer too and sometimes have comedy. Heads up some of the tables need screwing in properly (they are wobbly)

Walked passed a couple of times before but was too late to get the pastries I wanted to try. Walked passed again today and glimpsed the pistachio 🥐 as I am addicted to pistachio. The gentleman serving was welcome and polite. He advised the croissant did not have the pistachio filling inside so suggested the pistachio donuts and when I took my first bite I was so pleasantly surprised. My taste buds just thanked me. The donut was perfectly prepared; not dry and not too moist, the filling was perfect just enough and not too overpowering, the sugar dusting was just right! I wish I had purchased 2 now!!! Will definitely be back for more 😍 also seems like a nice cozy cafe people do their work/study in. Will defo try their drinks and other pastries soon too. Thanks Forty!

Forty Coffee House is a charming little spot that’s perfect for grabbing a quick coffee or enjoying a cozy glass of wine. The pros definitely stand out—great WiFi, polite and **chilled** baristas, and a welcoming owner who is open to a chat if they aren’t too busy. The barista here really knows how to make the best coffee and chai latte, complete with a sprinkle of cinnamon on top, and serves the most delicious pistachio doughnut in all of South London. It’s also a great spot to stop by on a rainy day, where you can sit by the window and watch the world go by. The place stays open until 10 PM, which is convenient, and it's always spotlessly clean, from the cozy interior to the well-maintained restroom. The decor is lovely, with artwork that adds to the mellow atmosphere, and they even host music events, further enhancing its wine bar vibe. A personal highlight: the owner is so polite that he even gave me free chips during one visit, which was such a sweet and thoughtful gesture. Small things like that make the experience extra special. Their chai latte is a must-try, and the coffee is affordable compared to most spots in South London. And again, don’t forget about the pistachio doughnut—it’s hard to find anything as tasty and affordable nearby! However, it’s important to remember that Forty is more of a wine bar than a coffee shop, catering primarily to the wine-drinking crowd. Seating can be uncomfortable, with wooden boxes and cushions that don't encourage long stays. The space is small, with about 12-15 seats, and in colder months, the draft from the open door can make it feel quite chilly, so be ready to keep your coat on. Laptop use is discouraged in the evening, so it’s not the best place to get work done or settle in for hours. While the owner is nice, they don’t always engage with new customers much, and the place lacks that typical community coffee shop vibe you might expect. If you're a non-alcoholic drinker, you may find yourself wishing for more conversation and energy in the atmosphere. Overall, Forty is a great spot for a quick drink, or a coffee, or try the best chai Latte in south london, especially if you're into wine, but it’s not really the place for a long, cozy stay or making friends. Perfect for a rainy day stop, but if you’re hoping for a café to spend hours working or socializing, it may fall short.

Just popped in to try an iced Greek coffee. Ended up having some delicious banana bread too. Such friendly owners. Definitely brightened up a very miserably rainy and windy day.

Mighty Tooting
828 Garratt Ln, London SW17 0NA, UK | Cafe P: 020 8682 3345
Rating: 4.9 (169) Price Level:
I recently had a delightful visit to Mighty Tooting, a quaint café tucked away in Tooting, and I must admit, it was quite the splendid experience. What stood out instantly was the friendly and hospitable staff who made me feel right at home from the moment I walked in. Their warm welcome and attentive service indeed set a cozy, inviting tone for the entire visit. Now, let's chat about the real star of the show - the food. I treated myself to their hearty full English breakfast and tantalizing American-style pancakes, and boy, were they a hit! The full English breakfast was cooked to perfection, with each traditional element meticulously prepared. The American-style pancakes were nothing short of amazing, delightfully light and fluffy. The flavors were a real treat to the palate, making each bite a memorable one. In addition to the amazing food, Mighty Tooting serves up a truly impressive cup of coffee. The rich, aromatic scent and the silky smooth taste of their coffee captivated me. It's clear that they've mastered the art of brewing coffee, adding a lovely touch to my overall experience. Pricing-wise, I found it to be pretty fair given the top-notch quality of their offerings. Mighty Tooting delivers impressive value for money, enabling you to indulge in a satisfying meal without breaking the bank. It's always refreshing to stumble upon a spot that nails the balance between good taste and reasonable pricing. Summing up, my visit to Mighty Tooting was nothing short of brilliant. The friendly and mindful staff, the exceptional full English breakfast and American-style pancakes, the outstanding coffee, coupled with the fair prices, make this café a must-visit spot. I strongly recommend you drop by and treat yourself to the culinary magic that Mighty Tooting has up its sleeve.

This place is a local gem in Tooting Broadway. We used to venture here when they were a few doors down from their current location and under the name 'Simply Breakfast' and have come to their current 'Mighty Tooting' place, they remember us each time which is reputable! The place is very clean and the service is so welcoming, friendly and jovial. Their food and drinks are made FRESH and SO DELICIOUS. Portion sizes are great. I'd have anything on the menu as I know I won't be disappointed. It's GREAT value for money. It's always a treat to have breakfast/brunch here. We're well pleased this is local to us! Kudos to all the staff front of house and behind the scenes! Pictures are from the last 3 times we've visited, we had something different each time lol!

It took awhile for me to write this review as we were travelling, we happened to stay around Tooting Broadway and by chance decided on the Mighty Tooting for our breakfast and it was the best decision we made. We arrived while the owner was still setting up the store but he immediately welcomed us in and out of the drizzle, what made the visit special was how welcoming the owner was, we had a great of conversation on how long the shop had been run and the move of location. You will not feel like a stranger here that is for sure. The food served was the best quality breakfast we've had during the trip, for the English brekkie every ingredient used was of great quality, the sausages were purchased fresh from the market (Cumberland if I recall), everything from the toast, eggs, beans down to the hashbrowns were delicious. My kid ordered the pancakes and they were really thick and fluffy, they were so good it was finished clean off the plate. If I had the appetite I would probably have ordered one of each and skipped lunch. The smoothies were made fresh, the berries smoothies was really packed full of goodness. Coffee was served hot and aromatic. Its no wonder that even those afar would come to patronize. Its unfortunate we did not get to do another breakfast before leaving the Tooting area, I do very much look forward to having another hearty breakfast there again when I visit the UK.

Visited the cafe yesterday before attending a funeral close by. As soon as we opened the door we were made welcome and space was found for us in what was already a busy place. The food was excellent (two of us had the fully monty, one had the omelette) and the service continued to be great through our visit. The couple next to us had eggs benedict and smashed avocado and they looked amazing too! I wanted to also say that as well as great food, the couple that run the place are genuine and thoughtful people who have helped out one of our friends a great deal recently. If you're in Tooting and looking for a great breakfast prepared with care by nice people go here, you won't regret it.

Day two of the new Arshad Khan Chai Wala, in Tooting. I just had the breakfast platter. I had the Shammi kebab option with paratha, channa masala and halwa. Also with a side of achar (pickle) It's all freshly prepared. The staff were friendly and Masuma who served my food was very kind. Asif the gent running the place was also very attentive. I would say it's very relaxing in here and definitely a lovely spot to enjoy a Karak chai - I loved the fact I could have the option of a stronger chai. Just how I like it. Thank you so much and InshaAllāh you'll be a great success in Tooting. Nargis 🌸

I am very scared of traditional cafes as they always serve cheap ingredient greasy food. But this one hit the spot - thick bacon, good portions and fresh from the griddle. We were allowed to bring our dog inside too! Definitely recommend :)

Very nice food, I would highly recommend this Cafe. The portion size was probably the best I've had not just in London but the South East. If your after a proper full English this is the spot. Thanks Legend

Perfect place if you want to eat breakfast prepared with passion. Guys working here are very helpful and polite. They really care about customer, place is clean, food fresh and well prepared. Notice those chips. Believe me or not but I’ve never ate better than those. Elsewhere in UK chips taste as sh (except one other place in Ewel) but NOT IN THIS PLACE. They are really fresh!

Stumbled across this on my daily walk and have been meaning to pop in. Was kindly greeted by a gentleman who was very welcoming, polite and attentive. I ordered an extra hot mocha and it was super good! I love that they offer a loyalty card. Will defo return to try other items on the menu. Update: Visited today on my quick morning walk, not the most welcoming atmosphere. Ordered an extra hot mocha to go, two very small cup sizes, opted for large when asked by the gentleman as that’s the one I usually go far but was charged £4.15 which I think is quite expensive for a standard mocha , no extra syrups etc. on the board it clearly states +0.40p for large (though it should be clearer) and that would be 3.90 but I was charged £4.15. It also would have been nice to double check what milk I wanted as I always get skimmed not whole. I have a lot of anxiety so didn’t want ask once I got my drink. Needed sugar which usually doesn’t. Also asked for a replacement stamp card as I misplaced mine and asked the man to kindly add the two from last time. Felt like I was asking for free food. Although he kindly added it, I felt really embarrassed for asking. Kind recommendations: - ensure prices are correct and clear for customers - consider a digital stamp system if possible so cards aren’t lost or misplaced. - if customer hasn’t stated whether they want an alternative milk, at least double check if they would like whole or skimmed. I am a little upset as I make effort in supporting local small businesses but sometimes I feel they don’t appreciate or value the customers they do have that return. My first visit was nothing like this hence this is my fourth visit or so. I don’t like to have to add this but I have to be honest about my experience and I hope improvements can be made in the near future. Overall, this time round, underwhelming experience and mocha.
