The Gosling

Rating: 4.8 (221) Price Level:

Absolutely spectacular! We have been wanting to go here for a while and for one reason or another life has got in the way. Well we finally got to go and it did not disappoint. Food was spectacular, service was amazing, everyone was incredibly friendly and they allow dogs… We have been planning our next visit from the moment we went there. For reference there is a great dog walk just the other side of the road, so perfect for a decent walk then slap up meal. As a side note the cocktails are banging.

We went for our pre Christmas Christmas lunch with dad. Staff were super friendly. The drinks menu was confusing and missing an easy to understand section of non alcoholic beverages. And the tables were a bit close together lovely if everyone is respectful but some guests are a bit blasé. But the food was tasty and prepared in a reasonable amount of time, with a much needed rest in between. The bathrooms were lovely with their hand towels to dry your hands.

Forgot to post this in the last couple of weeks. We first went to The Gosling for our anniversary in December, the food and service was exceptionally good, by far the best food quality and service we experienced in Surrey so far. The restaurant is very clean and really comfy as well, surprising to see the place not all that crowded It was so good we came back the next Sunday for the roast, omg so good. Go try it you won’t regret

What a brilliant gem near Woking. The restaurant exceeded our expectations. The food, service and decor were amazing. We particularly enjoyed the lamb started and chateaubriand. We will definitely be back.

First visit last night. We had an early table so wasn’t that many people there so atmosphere wise hard to judge but started to fill near the end. The food and service were top notch. Good selection of food options and done to to a high level. All staff were pleasant and helpful throughout. Two courses and a few drinks came to about £80 per head.

This was our first visit to the area so we asked a shop assistant if she could recommend a nice place for a birthday lunch. Without hesitation she recommended Positano. We were so glad she did. Everything was just brilliant from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious (we had the fried chicken in a white wine mushroom sauce and the salmon with spinach and crushed potatoes😋), the staff were very friendly and attentive throughout all in a lovely relaxing atmosphere too. Thank you for my birthday candle in my dessert it was a lovely thoughtful touch and most certainly the icing on the cake after a wonderful lunch! 😃🥰🎂

Fantastic meal at Positano last night. Superb attentive service whilst not being intrusive. Not been here for several years, as previous experience was not what we expected. However so glad we tried them again and it won’t be the last time. Garlic bread was delicious - so good we forgot to take a photo. I had the risotto and can easily say it was the best I have tasted. My husband had the fish special was equally delicious. The suggested wine pairing was perfect. The puddings rounded off a great night. So give Positano a try and we’ll probably see you there as we are definitely coming back.

Beautiful lunch with my neighbour at Positano. I’ve wanted to come here hit a long time but it was always fully booked. Today we had a great lunch, great service, and great atmosphere. Food was delicious and the best tiramisù I’ve had in a long time. Brilliant, I’ll take other friends here too.

The Seven Stars

Rating: 4.5 (417) Price Level:

Came here for lunch with my Mrs and have to say it’s one of the best roast dinners around by far! Best I’ve had in a while. We were served by a lovely young man named Christian and the service was second to none too if the food alone wasn’t great enough. I would highly recommend the seven stars to anyone looking for a nice spot of lunch.

We have driven past The Seven Stars a few times on our way to Ripley and we finally headed over for a Friday night meal - and we loved it! Super warm and cosy atmosphere with a happy greeting as we entered. All the staff were really attentive and friendly, and the food was LUSH! Generous portions and cooked perfectly - we just need to eat less during the day to squeeze in a dessert next time as they sounded delicious - we have a new favourite local pub to visit and a menu that has so many options to keep us going back :) thanks for a lovely evening team Seven Stars !

We tried the seven stars for breakfast this morning and it’s the best one we have had out! Sausages and bacon were delicious - everything was and some of our friends had the Avocado and poached eggs on toast and said it was excellent. We usually come for Sunday lunch but LOVED our breakfast and will be returning! Thanks to the staff too - always so friendly!

We visited Bacaro and met Adam the owner as we had a 40th birthday coming up and wanted to book the venue for a party. He kindly facilitated our needs and made the planning very easy. Food on the night freshly cooked and tasted wonderful. Service was fantastic and very friendly with a warm atmosphere. Cannot recommend highly enough for a party, or to try the food and hospitality for a meal out.

Food looked amazing, although we only stopped by for a drink, I would consider coming back to eat. Atmosphere was great and service was fantastic, particularly John behind the bar. Love that you can see them cooking in the kitchen and decor was fab! Only downside was the cost, £15 for a bottle of beer and white wine spritz 😬. Pint and white wine spritz was £13.50

Went for breakfast for my husband’s birthday. Lovely place, friendly service and excellent food. We had a scrambled egg and bacon and a full English - both delicious and as good as we’ve had anywhere. All the ingredients were of the best quality and well cooked. Delicious coffee. We went for the first today 5 Jan 2025, recommend by a friend who lives in Ripley. She advised us to book and she was right! It’s a while since we’ve had a full-on Sunday lunch so it was a bit of a treat. One person had the roast beef, another the lamb, and I had salmon. All good with portions of Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, roast vegetables, brussel sprout mash, and sensational cauliflower cheese, plus gravy. A tasty zero beer called ‘Little Swine’ from Hogs Back Brewery which deserves wider distribution. Followed by bread and butter pudding and chocolate fondant both with ice cream. And coffees and tea. We added a generous tip for the attentive and friendly service. All up £50 a head which is good value. Didn’t have time to shop but a glance round says they’ve got delicious deli.

A lovely place to dine. The restaurant is sitting right in the heart of St Johns with a large parking space. Plenty of space inside and outside. The food was fabulous. I especially loved the Mussels. Wife loved the pizza. Plenty of wine to choose from. Like any other authentic Italian places, it is run by italians in and out. As an Indian, I had trouble pronouncing some names, but the lovely lady helped me with the menu. We also had the Tiramisu. One of the creamiest Tiramisu ever I had in the UK. All in all, a wonderful place and will definitely visit again.

P: 01483 722115

Rating: 4.5 (1434) Price Level:

Staff very friendly and food was good, three cheese 🍕 ordered, only one Ale on but to be honest it was nice. Would of been nice to have had a choice. Only bad thing I could think of is that the place itself is tired, the men's toilet wasn't clean, soap dispenser not attached to the wall. And could to with a good paint. Such a shame as last time I was here working here couple of years back it was immaculate. Time for a spruce up I reckon.

We just had a fabulous sunday lunch. A really friendly place that was very accommodating to our dietary needs. They substituted oil for butter and instrad of Potatoes gave me extra veg as on Atkins. This was all organised by our super friendly and helpful waitress, Evie, who couldn't do enough for us! I was in Hakkassan in Mayfair last night and the price was 4 times this, and the service was better here! The seabass was crispy and tasty and the beef was yummy and wholesome on a grey day.

We celebrated our Twins Sacrament of Confirmation and Harry and Alice were amazing. Super attentive to my guest requests and they both made the day enjoyable with no stress. We selected 10 items from the pre set menu and all of the food distributed was delicious 😋. Even our guests made comments to advise that all of the food outstanding. Harry took care of us from when I made the booking, up until the end of the event. Alice took care of the guests requests on the day and they both checked in to ensure that we were OK with everything. Thank you both from the bottom of our hearts. You made the day super enjoyable.

I visited this pub/restaurant for a solo business meal. The staff were some of the friendliest, most welcoming restaurant staff I have ever encountered. The lady who I assumed was the manager treated me like a member of her family and could not do enough for me! Grace, who was waiting on my table was very attentive and friendly. The food was amazing. Fabulous meal at this restaurant. We ordered the tasting menu. Plenty of delicious food. A couple of dishes were a little too spicy for me due to oral autoimmune condition so best to ask first if you can't tolerate spicy.

There is a reason why Beit Beirut has such high ratings. The restaurant itself is clean and warm, the wine wall adds a lovely traditional feel to room, and the atmosphere is soothing. The staff are lovely and attentive, explaining each dish and its origins as it is served. The food itself was full of flavour and varied, so many different foods to try. I tried several dishes like the grilled aubergine starter (included in the cold meze) that I've not tried before and not only enjoyed what I ate but highly recommend. For something different, tasty and friendly in Woking I strongly recommend booking yourself into Beit Beirut. You won't be disappointed.

This is my favourite restaurant in Woking. The food is delicious, the servers are warm and friendly and the portion sizes are great. Best of all, they are not stingy on the bread! I would recommend the tasting menu since you get to a bit of everything, and the meats on the mixed grill are really good.

My partner and I visited Beit Beirut for dinner and had a fabulous evening. The food was wonderful and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. We had a tasting menu, which included a mixture of cold mezza, hot mezza, meats and rice, and a selection of baklava to finish. We especially loved the Batata Harra, Cheese Sambousek and Lamb Kastaleta. All of the dishes we tried had amazing flavour and seasoning, were cooked to perfection, and they were all presented beautifully. They also have an extensive selection of Lebanese wines to choose from, so you can choose a wine that will compliment the dishes you order. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you want to enjoy delicious authentic Lebanese food.

RHS Garden Wisley

Wisley Ln, Wisley, Woking GU23 6QB, UK | Garden
P: 01483 224234

Rating: 4.7 (17072) Price Level:

Recently, we visited this wonderful RHS Garden at Wisley. It is a great place for a day tour with friends and family. We went there by car without any problem and parking is free for visitors. At the very right of the Plant Centre, you will find Garden Centre and at the left you will find a Cafe and shop. The Garden Entrance is between the Toilets and Cafe (very left of the Plant Centre). As we reached there a little bit late 12.30 pm, we could not cover all the areas, so we decided to come again. I would recommend everyone to come early with picnic (because food and drink are very expensive) to cover all the gardens. You will also need a willingness to walk for miles. There are lots of restrooms and cafes, so you can have plenty of opportunities to refresh yourself. After visiting the glasshouse (greenhouse), we visited the playground near the glasshouse and the rock garden. We also liked the Viewing Mount and the surroundings from the top of the mount. I found the water Lily in the pond, which is very exciting and beautiful. We then moved to the Clear Lake through the exotic garden, cottage garden, and horse statue. We really enjoyed the day out and recommended everyone to visit it.

Lots of lights at this annual glow. A few set installation pieces, but mainly coloured lights highlighting all the many trees in the garden and greenhouse. A short fountain and light display at the end. About an hour to walk around. Plenty of opportunities around the path for refreshments.

We attended the RHS widely glow walk and it was fabulous. Staff are welcoming and friendly. We ate at the terrace restaurant and service here was friendly and quick. The custard tart dessert and the plum crumble was just delicious! The glow walk was set up nicely and it’s a one way system so easy to follow. No where near as busy as Kew garden and I actually prefer RHS as they had the Christmas tree display with Christmas music. The gift shop is big and lovely to spend time browsing about. Would definitely visit again for the glow or for the garden in the summer.
