Wow! What a special place this is! We booked the beautiful function room for a family party. We also booked 3 rooms which were also beautifully furnished, clean and well equipped. The support and service of the staff was excellent and the freshly cooked breakfast just fabulous. Our friends and family enjoyed the range of beers including real ales and draught Hawkestone lager which is not easy to find where we live. The adjacent pizza area was also handy and delivered tasty oven cooked pizzas. Happy memories for us. Sincere thanks to the staff for helping to make our experience so special.

A real old school pub with a decent garden for the summer months. The food is tasty and reasonably priced, and there's a good selection of beers. This is not a modern bar, but has a quirky charm.

Went to the weekly quiz which was great fun ! Had pizza which was delicious! Beers a bit pricey but great quality. Overall a really nice friendly well run public house in a really old and quirky building . Staff were lovely and helpful.

Updated Nov 2024 Think it deserves another star as we found the service to still be consistently good but the food to have vastly improved. The mixed grill was fairly substantial and fish & chips was large. Especially liked the availability of Hawkstone on tap here A wonderfully bubbly and bustling place with great service. Pity about the seafood platter, which was more batter than sea. Guess we lewrn from our mistakes

We absolutely love this place. They serve exceptional breakfast, and the coffee is strong and flavorful. The staff are friendly and genuinely committed to providing excellent service. It's been so great that we've been regulars for 8 years. I would also recommend the luxury hot chocolate on a colder day

The Cherry Bakewell cocktail is a must! The Cosy Burger was tasty. We found the service to be okay nothing special, but we were not rushed to vacate the table and the overall atmosphere was quiet even though it was a Saturday evening.

Came for breakfast. Ordered the butchers breakfast, it was so tasty but very filling I couldn't quite finish it. Bread was sooooo nice and eggs cooked to perfection. If you want a nice full english come here! Staff also great, checked to see if everything was OK a few minutes in, which it was of course!

I had the breakfast at the cosy club. The staff were friendly and welcoming, offered me to stay in the warmer bar area to dine and provided an excellent table service. The place has a unique and interesting decor. The food items were of good quality and breakfast contained everything I’d expect, the only item to let it down was the scrambled eggs that were sloppy. Overall a good experience, I’d happily return.

First time at the Cosy Club in Derby. Only stopped for drinks with friends but what a great venue and superb staff. Great offering recommendations regarding drinks and making us feel welcome. There is plenty of space allowing us to sit and chat, unlike some of the smaller venues. Definitly work dropping in.

-food was amazing and came out on a lava stone -but more expensive but reasonable for what you get -very nice inside -good cocktails

We came to The Forge for our valentines evening meal, and it didn't disappoint! We arrived 20 minutes before our reservation and started our night with a lovely bottle of red while we waited to be seated. The staff were attentive, and we quickly received our menus and ordered our meals. For starters, we had Korean BBQ bites and breaded garlic mushrooms - both of which were delicious! For our mains, we ordered an 8oz rump and a 12oz rump. Both of these steaks were seasoned beautifully and are up there two of the best steaks we have had. The steaks are served lightly seared only but on a 440-degree lava rock, so you can cook the steak to your liking, a really fun and quirky thing to do. After we were finished, we thanked the staff and asked them to pass our compliments onto the chef, also, as it really was delicious 😋 If I had to pick fault with anything it would be that the service, bringing the mains out was on the slow side but the ambience, smells, tastes and of course my gorgeous date's company ;) made up for that!

Called in on the off chance, and they had a table available to us. We had to be wheeled out! The food was excellent, served on hot stone, ready to cut into strips to cook at the level you want it. The portions are very large, taste great, and the service is excellent. Would definitely return. But I will need to make sure I haven't eaten at all that day before 😊

Not been to this pub since lockdown, forgotten how good the food was. Good quality food but at a reasonable price. I had the roast turkey Sunday dinner and it was amazing, love the red cabbage. Had sticky toffee pudding for afters. Large modern clean pub with outdoor area. Electric car charging point in car park. Welcoming staff would highly recommend it

Everything was delicious and the waitress was so nice. The atmosphere was brilliant and i felt at home. I would give this a rating of 6 out of 5 but sadly i can only give 5. Keep it up markeaton I'm looking forward to eating with you again!!

Since the refurb, has been totally transformed. Now a lovely atmosphere with friendly locals, great service and excellent food. The steak especially and the landlord and landlady are true gems. Mahoosive thumbs up 👍.

Booked the Bull and Bush function room for my daughter’s surprise birthday party. The buffet was generous with a nice variety of hot and cold food . The management team were very helpful in setting up the room and providing all the facilities we needed. We hired a live band who were brilliant and we all had a smashing time . Thank you to Alex, Ana and all bar staff for helping to make my daughter’s birthday party a success. Regards Chris

Visited with 3 friends. All the staff were friendly. The food was good,plenty choice and good value for money. Only reason, for only 4 stars for atmosphere ,is the fact there was a TV showing football and golf commentary on a speaker next to us. I prefer to dine without tv. That is a personal choice. I would definitely visit again.

Fantastic pub. Great atmosphere with a superb beer selection. Staff are very friendly. I called up with little notice to get 5 of us in for the Sunday dinner. They managed to fit us in and were extremely friendly on the phone. When we arrived, the friendly atmosphere was there with again a great beer selection. The Sunday dinner was fantastic and plenty to go at. I'd definitely recommend it and we will be back. A special mention should be made for the staff who definitely add to the experience.

10/10 we booked a table for 22. No orders wrong, all orders came at the right time and the price is fantastic. As southerners (a football team travelling for a game) we thoroughly enjoyed the food and it’s remarkable they got everything right and in time. Well done to all the team, it’s a rarety this happens for us.

I surprised a few friends by turning up here for the first once a month DJ Waxie's night of music. Very friendly atmosphere and zero trouble. The bar was busy with the crowd for the disco and food still being served up until 9:30pm. I didn't struggle to find somewhere to sit. Great music cheap drinks what else do you need in your 50s on a Saturday night?

Had a lovely meal as always, I love the crispy chilli beef! Staff were very friendly and helpful, my only criticism was how small the ice cream sundae was for the price (£4.60) and the honeycomb was missing. Definitely be back 😋

Had classic British fish and chips, fish was crispy, good seasoning, fries, so so. Peas was nice. Weekday promotion was on 12.50 for two mains. The place was full when we went in around 8 pm on a Wednesday.

We love coming here; food is good and service is consistently lovely. Came today, (a Sunday!) with 9 of us and no reservation, on the off chance they had a table. Even though they were very busy, the staff went out of their way to move tables around to make sure they could seat us. The serving staff were really friendly and attentive and, as always, we had a lovely meal! Thanks!

Came in on a Sunday for a carvery. We were sat down quickly by Ethan who was explained the order at table system and how everything works. We had a carvery each and it was 10/10, good choice of meat and wide range of veg and was very tasty. Great service at the bar, it was quick and and very friendly. Overall great place to eat !!

I forgot to book a table , despite a busy Sunday lunch service the staff managed to sort us a table for my mum and daughter. Carvery was great and daughters meal was sent out quickly too. , Thank you so much to all the staff we had contact with.

Very clean and comfortable rooms. The pub/restaurant was a very pleasant experience, the staff were welcoming and helpful. A few tweaks to the updated menu was a nice change, offering some very tasty items especially the hamburger items. Would highly recommend.

Table ready and waiting. Ordered food and drink at the bar. Able to use blue light card foe discount. Food was lovely. Nice and hot. Staff were pleasent. Great portion sizes. Only shame was that we had no room left for pudding! They sounded delicious

This place deserves 5 stars, the drinks are made as soon as they are ordered, doesn't take too long to get them. Everything on the menu is great, I highly recommend the Nachos Sharer. Food always comes fresh and hot unlike other pubs where it comes out barely warm. The staff is great and very welcoming. If I would recommend anyone a pub it would be this one!! Will be coming back again.
