I was very pleased to find an NHS dentist within an hour from me! On my first visit to Damira Dental Practice @ The Avenue, I was seen by dentist Vinusha (29 Nov 2024) which is paid for under the NHS contract as I receive pension credit. Yesterday (16 Dec 2024) I was seen by Damira's hygienist, Swaathy which is private as NHS does not pay for this. Both did a splendid job, they were professional (& helpful) in their dealing with me. They were both polite & guided me in telling me what to do & what not to do when it came to cleaning teeth, and looking after gums etc. There was no rushing about, and no panicking as I have experienced over the decades I was with other (mostly all private) dental practices. I found the reception at Damira Dental Practice @ The Avenue helpful & professional in all aspects of their work. They are there to make appointments, deal with incoming & outgoing patients, to take payment / refunds & are generally very helpful, especially helping parents with babies and toddlers. When you make an appointment, come earlier, not 'on time'. It sounds pedantic but It only takes one or two people to arrive late to disrupt timings for those waiting. I personally had to wait over a hour longer than my appointment time due to some folk 'flying in' looking harassed. This was (obviously) a problem with traffic & school pick-up time & a couple of patients coming in and going out several times which the receptionists were trying to deal with while also dealing with other work they are interrupted and looking after a baby while mum was getting her teeth attended to. Not anyone's fault for the situation but it was all managed professionally by the two young ladies. For those who complain = Organise your appointment as though you were visiting your doctor, you cannot be late for that either, so try harder! I was an hour early for my first appointment as I had to find The Avenue after a (short) bus ride but a very long walk, early just in case I had to fill in some forms too, so total time spent was two & half hours when the appointment was just a 'simple' (first) check-up. I did not mind as I have been retired for over a decade, have no children to collect from school or be in when they got home or return to work! But I did have wait over 40 mins for a bus which was annoying as i was getting dark & the bus was nearly full. I hope to be a patient at Damira Dental Practice @ The Avenue for the foreeable future. Good team ..

Brilliant service. Was seen more or less my appointment time. Saw a dentist that must be new. She was really good. Gave me a thorough check up and filled a broken tooth that other dentists there never bothered to do over the last 2 to 3 years. Excellent!

Before I start I would like to point out that I am petrified of the dentist; this was explained to the receptionist and I was very apprehensive and nervous before my appointment. I was booked in after my check up for a filling and a clean. Sam was so lovely, very accommodating, understanding and supportive. I was reassured throughout and that was probably the first thorough clean I have ever had. Great aftercare and general advice for looking after teeth and gums, and answered any questions I had, didn’t feel rushed at all. Honestly can’t thank you enough. Highly recommend.

Can't fault this dental practice, been with them for many years. The reception staff are always friendly and efficient, as for my dentist "Sam" she is also friendly and very professional, only does what needs to be done, makes you aware of what you're doing right and what you're not doing so well with regard to your oral hygiene and doesn't try to force you down the route of additional work but makes you aware of what is available should you want to go that route. We are NHS but don't feel we are being treated any differently to a private patient.
