“A Quick Stop at The Boathouse with A Mixed Experience! On a recent visit to Newmillerdam, we decided to stop by The Boathouse for a quick drink and some cake. The location of the establishment is certainly one of its biggest draws – situated right by the dam, it offers stunning views of the surrounding scenery. Upon arrival, we found the staff to be a bit rushed off their feet, understandably so as the sun was shining and the place was bustling with visitors. Despite this, they were still friendly and took our order efficiently. The drinks we ordered were tasty and hit the spot, but if I had one critique, it would be that they could have been a tad colder, as a warm Milkshake doesn’t go down that well. The cake selection looked delicious, and our choices did not disappoint. They were well-presented and satisfyingly indulgent, making for a pleasant treat during our outing. What truly makes The Boathouse Newmillerdam a great place to visit is its perfect positioning. With the dam right outside and picturesque views all around, it's an ideal spot to relax and take in the natural beauty of the area. Whether you're looking for a quick refreshment or a longer stay to soak in the beautiful views, the Boathouse Newmillerdam provides a delightful experience. Just be prepared for a bustling atmosphere and maybe a slight wait on a sunny day.”

Cafe 19
7 Cross Square, Wakefield WF1 1PQ, UK
Phone: 01924 635119
“The best cafe in Wakefield with a good selection of high quality home made food at a reasonable price. The atmosphere is welcoming and the staff are very friendly. It is a family run business and the staff and owners make you feel one of the family too. (No you don’t have to do the washing up). Specials for Senior citizens too are very tasty and so filling you may need a doggy bag. The only downside is that you may have to wait for a few minutes for a table because it’s so popular but it is well worth the wait.”

“A first-time visit to Create Café, and was very impressed. It's a bright, airy, colourful space. The menu is extensive, and good value for for money. The food is all freshly cooked to order, and tasty. The overall ethos is "Where good food and people matter". The café aims to help disadvantaged people by giving them working experience. Kudos to the co-founders/co-owners Shaun and James for this admirable venture which deserves every success.”

“Love love love it. Fabulous breakfast, probably one of the best full English I have had. There's a lot of very nice food to suit all tastes on the breakfast menu. “Great little cafe we discovered by accident and now it's our regular lunch venue. Clean, very good value for money and always good service. Usual breakfast menu and a very good lunchtime selection of main meals and sandwiches all of a high quality. Cash is preferred like most small businesses but they also take card. An absolute hidden gem of a cafe serving good honest food at very reasonable prices”

Caffé Noor
Trinity Walk, Wakefield WF1 1QS, UK

“Very nice coffee in Wakefield, especially near a shopping centre. Interior is the same layout really as the last cafe Nero that was there, but the decor is much better now. Staff are very friendly, very prompt to take your order and get it to you. Food is similar, but nothing to be moaned at. Lost one star for serving my croissant on a chipped plate, as all food and drink establishments should know chipped porcelain is a bacteria breeding ground and therefore disposed of.”

Blacker Hall Farm Shop
Branch Rd, Calder Grove, Wakefield WF4 3DN, UK
Phone: 01924 267202
“A great find . Delicious sunday lunch . Very generous portion. Liked the family style sharing vegetables . Great service. Extremely well stocked farm shop with a beautiful array of produce . Loved the fresh orange juice self service machine where you can bottle your own takeaway juice and also different flavoured takeaway milk machine too. Perfect place for all ages. The outdoor area serving pizza and takeaway foods has a great atmosphere. There is a children's farm for " Little Farmers " Only thing I would say as a downside , no vegan ice-cream and the portion served in the ice-cream hut was very a small scoop and she didn't wear gloves.”
