Beautiful local cafe with amazing cakes. One of the most quality desserts venues in Portsmouth. Not overly sweet yet the flavours are delicate… finally something more “European”!

Beautiful garden, the café has a lovely atmosphere with relaxing music,not too loud. The cakes are all high standard and so tasty,made by the owner herself. I've just come home today with a couple of Portuguese tarts,they taste amazing, everyone's favourite!

Really high quality pastries and quiche ! Full of flavors. The coffee was also really tasty. we will come back for sure, that’s saved in my google map marks. Thanks!

THE. BEST. CAKES. The best. No question. Don't even get me started on the Portuguese tarts. The quiche meal appears in my dreams, I slide around on the vinaigrette that drenches the potatoes. Bloody lovely.

I had the most amazing experience here this morning, I don’t think I’ve found another place like it in Winchester. The food is beautifully presented and full of flavours, the drinks are unique with the cacaos and mushroom blends (not to mention delicious) lastly the service is on point! Its warm, relaxed atmosphere made me want to stay all day. It’s got an alternative feel to the place with all the tropical plants and vibe. I almost felt like I’d escaped the dreary UK and could have been in Costa Rica! Photos of before and after! Thank you team Røst 🫶

Hidden treasure of Winchester! Outstandingly good Cacao and coffee. Really nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Grabbed a sandwich on a whim and it was fantastic. Really lovely change from the boring bits you get in chain shops!

*revised review* 5 stars all around !! Located right next to Winchester train station this modern, aesthetic, zen cafe offers something different to the average coffee house. My chai spiced latte was traditional, presented beautifully and tasted very different to normal powder packaged drinks. I can also highly recommend the mushroom mocha it is sensational and a great bonus to your day.

Super cozy atmosphere and friendly staff was good enough for 5 star but the coffee and pastry we had was delightful too. Highly recommended.

Me and my friend absolutely love this café. The hot chocolates are so good, especially the autumnal one that I got today. The staff are lovely, particularly Victoria who goes to extra length to make customers feel welcome. I haven't tried the food yet but it looks amazing, and there lots of gluten free and vegetarian/vegan options available. Would definitely recommend 🩷

Fantastic little gem of a place! Good quality delicious food at a very good price, great selection of choices with gluten free & vegan well catered for, warm & friendly staff, dogs & kids made very welcome & catered for too. A lovely atmosphere & we will definitely be returning again after having our first visit here for vegetarian breakfast today! 😊

Highly recommend this lovely little place. The manager Veronique and her staff are amazing and always give us such welcoming and wonderful service. The food is always fantastic! My wife and I are vegan, they always go above and beyond to make sure we have choices in here. Today we had the ‘Holly Jolly Veggie’ toasted sandwich from the festive specials and it was soooooo delicious! They have a really great selection of cakes for vegans too, today there were 10 different cake options for vegans which hardly ever happens anywhere else! Ahoy shipmates! Our sons 1st birthday party had exceptionally smooth sailing. Thank you to all the staff here at Lakeside Cafe. I couldn't be more grateful for the help, kindness, and amazing service you provided for the birthday party. The platters of sandwiches are tasty and fresh. Those sausage rolls were delicious, and the cakes are mouth watering. Staff went above and beyond, and I'd highly recommend this Lakeside Cafe to anyone looking for an occasion young or old. I'm so happy with how our sons first birthday party went. We even did a cheeky little gender reveal to celebrate our second. The family and friends all loved this place with all it's amenities they have to offer onsite.

Finally managed to come by when there was a parking space available so could enjoy this lovely little stop for a quick bite. The cake selection was lovely and the hot meals looked delicious. Sadly we could only see the lunch menu on wall, so didn't know about all the breakfast baps that were available until after we had ordered and then heard a group ordering these. Just a suggestion, but maybe a board with breakfast offers on or copies of menus on tables to help us all see what's available. The staff were very polite and attentive, will definitely come again to try one of the toasted sandwiches

The best cooked breakfast I have ever eaten! Really tasty, locally sourced ingredients cooked to perfection on a hot plate....so no oil or grease. Amazingly friendly service....very good value for money. Shame I live 2 hours away or I'd be a regular!

A bittersweet review. We've been coming here for almost 4 years. Food has always been great when you can get a seat and when you can't, takeaway is available. Choices are a plenty and you are looked after promptly. No faults on that part... ... However ... 3 years ago we wanted to book a table, 4 adults and a baby. We booked a table for 4, when we got there, we were almost "told off" by the lady for having the push chair/baby. My in laws were with us and they thought it was rude the way it came across, so don't like to come back here. Fast forward to our recent visit in the last week. Wanted to book a table, deliberately asked how busy they were, everything was fine as long as it was tea and cake (no cooked food). So booked a table for 4. Turned up with my parents this time, our little boy and a 4 month old baby. Our little boy was going to sit on my lap and the baby in the car seat. Once again, "told off" by exactly the same person that did it 3 years ago. I clearly didn't learn my lesson last time! Apparently we should have booked a table for 6, not 4. Even though our children were not taking up any other seats. Remarkably the lady followed it up by saying it's for fire reasons and capacity. But you only had to look around the seating area to see 3-4 tables free, so not exactly packed out. This is the first time I took my parents here and they said the same thing. Food was great but the comment came across rude. We've never had this issue at other places and we go to quite a lot, but perhaps it's because they are so restricted for space. In fairness, perhaps there's fault on our part for not stating the other extras in our family, but by that extension, nothing was said about the several dogs in the property taking up space around the tables and lying on the floor to create tripping hazards. Talk about fire risk? 🤔 Nevertheless, a lovely place to go, you won't be disappointed if you can get in there. Just learn from our mistakes and book for every person/creature you plan to bring with you. Be it a baby, a toddler, a dog/cat/hamster etc. Let the staff make the decision of how big the table size is and if they can accommodate you, then there's no confusion or crossed wires. We are unlikely to be going back now after our recent experience, but this shouldn't discourage anyone else, because it's likely a fault on our part.

I absolutely LOVE this tea room!! The Old Forge provides a fantastic atmosphere, service and food and drinks! 💘 From teas to coffees and delicious hot chocolates to soft drinks. There is quite a selection of drinks to stop off and enjoy. ☕️❤️ The food, well... Exquisite!! Bacon Sandwiches or Sausage sandwiches, to a full English, to sausuage rolls, salads and toasted sandwiches. This tea room provides delicious homemade meals for breakfast and lunch. Not mention their incredible afternoon tea!! The cakes are out this world and there is quite a large selection. I love their carrot cake and recently, the Lime and Passionfruit cake. 😍 If your in the area, THIS IS A MUST visit!! Ed and Claire run this place so well with a warm, inviting presence! Highly recommend for walkers, dog owners, cyclists, motorcyclists and car enthusiasts! If you have a few of you with you, I recommend booking in advanced.

My first visit (10.03) for Mother's Day. I had wanted to come for ages. Daughter (18) decided upon here for taking me out for Mother's Day brunch! We were lucky to get a table! Lovely friendly welcome and every staff member - without exception - were smiling, helpful, chatty and lovely. Nothing was too much trouble. My daughter is autistic and took a little while to figure out the new surroundings, menu etc. Probably as there's so much CHOICE! It couldn't be better for me as severely gluten intolerant. We started with drinks - Kinder Bueno Frappe for my daughter, Coco loco smoothie for me. Delicious 😋. Then I had gluten free Eggs Benedict (came labelled) and D had a mini egg cookie pie. I enjoyed mine immensely. I had a very good flat white and a piece of lime and coconut cake, that was so soft and moist I could hardly believe it WAS gluten free! It was a lovely lovely treat and I can't wait to come back!

We held a baby shower at Madhatters, Phoebe and her team outdid themselves. They decorated the room beautifully. The food as always was very high quality with everything home made. Most of the guests live on Hayling but hadn’t been to Madhatters before. After the delicious food, service, they will definitely be going back. Thank you Madhatters for the effort, care and attention you all took to make our baby shower so very special.

I only popped in for a takeaway coffee during a chilly dog walk but now can’t wait to go back. The coffee was lovely but the people (both staff and customers) couldn’t have been more welcoming and friendly to me or my dog! A wonderful local spot, I can see why there are so many lovely reviews. Looking forward to going back for some food very soon.

Stunning, I completely understand why Josie's is always packed with queues out the door! First visit to the area, I would visit here every week if I could. The chicken, bacon, BBQ cheese toastie was delightful, pals chicken benedict tasted like happiness. Bloody Mary's, a must-have for the BM fans!

What a wonderful gem of a cafe! Right at the top of Butser Hill, it's popular with hikers, cyclists, and dog walkers, and of course people who want to drive up and use the large car park to do some walking and take in the amazing 360 degree views from the top. The cafe is currently open thur to sun 9am - 4pm, and serves hot and cold drinks, ice creams cakes, all day breakfast, pastries, sandwiches, burgers, and probably many more things too! There are proper toilets available, and there are even dog treats too! The staff are very friendly and it's a great place for a well-earned refreshment. There are lots of picnic tables and benches spread out. I went on a dry, sunny, clear day, I'm not sure it would be as much fun on a rainy day!

We had delicious food and drink at the Butser Roundhouse Cafe today. I’d highly recommend their coffee and toasties! Great service and a very much appreciated wc. A lovely little cafe, in a beautiful spot and definitely worth the climb!

Dog friendly! Beautiful walk up and around Butser hill and the roundhouse is open Thursday to Sunday for hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, ice- creams, shakes, snacks, cakes, toasties and breakfast rolls. The best coffee! Dogs can have a puppachino for £1 and there's a water bowl. A friendly, family run business and a welcome pit stop on our walks :) the toilet is open until around 4pm and there are picnic benches. There are several routes up Butser hill from various locations but if you fancy just a walk around the top and the views, there is a road that goes up there from the A3, just past the Hampshire hog but be aware that there are pedestrians, horses and cyclists that use the same road. There is car park with a path that leads to the roundhouse. The car park isn't free but you can pay by card when you leave and it's only a short walk from there to the top.

We love this little café! We walk up the hill from QE Park with our dog regularly and the views from the top are spectacular. The café is a wonderful reward when you get to the top! Friendly staff, very generous sausage baps. A surprisingly good range of food and snacks for such a remote location. Free doggy biscuits and water bowls available. We just love coming here for a treat.

After a fun night seeing a friend performing at the King's Theatre...we woke to sunshine, calm sea and the need for a good breakfast. Walking along the seafront we eventually chanced on the Spinnaker Cafe. A small cafe ( seating about 26), with a clean crisply decorated interior offering all day food. We both chose the large full English.... excellent value for money, well cooked....not overly greasy, good quality ingredients. Around us we saw their sandwiches and breakfast wraps..all well presented and excellent value for money. If you are in Southsea, this is a must visit.

Had breakfast at the Spinnaker Cafe. Lovely friendly staff, excellent food and exceptional coffee. They have a gluten free menu and were extremely helpful with other food intolerances. Would highly recommend.

Spinnaker Café, is a great place to eat. It was our first visit, yesterday: we had a great welcome, the coffee is good, the service is excellent and the vegan breakfast was hot and tasty. We'll definitely be back 😋 Do NOT confuse this lovely café with Spinnaker Kitchen (at the bottom of Spinnaker tower) which is freezing cold, opens late and doesn't serve hot food until 10am.

I’ve got scrambled eggs with salmon, the food was tasty, the coffee was good as well. However, I don’t think it deserves 5 stars but I will give them the benefit of a doubt, the wow effect wasn’t there - hard to quantify, there is no WiFi in the cafe and the reception is really bad so no hot spotting either.

The is the best cafe in Southsea. Has a great vibe, stunningly delicious cakes and perfect drinks. The Christmas Yule Log this week was devine as was the sticky gingerbread cake. Top place, just keep a secret right between us?

We had to sit outside because it was so full but very accommodating providing blankets. The food, was amazing!! Literally one of the best breakfasts I've ever had and was deffo worth the wait as it was so fresh and tasty. So much pride in how it looked too.

Very thankful for the team squeezing us in during a busy Sunday brunch service. I had the Ultimate BLT which lived up to its name, and then some. We were also glad we ordered two of their "Southsea Buns" on arrival (think zesty raspberry coulis and toasted almond butter in the style of a cinnamon swirl), as they'd all gone by the time we'd finished our brunch. Excellent coffee, very flavourful Earl Grey tea. Will definitely return (with a table booking!) on our next visit to Portsmouth / Southsea.

Delicious (vegan) breakfast at Salt Shack. It was a lovely sunny day to look out across the water but they have plenty of blankets and heaters if it's chilly. Fuss was freshly cooked, coffee was really good and lovely service. Book a table is you want a front row table. Glad we found this place, can't recommend it enough.

This is a MUST visit cafe when on Hayling Island. We called for a reservation for lunch as we had heard lots about this place and wanted to make sure we got in. The location is right on the marina and is AMAZING. The staff are extremely friendly and make you feel like family, and the food is DELICIOUS. It's served with so much presentation and love, and tastes FABULOUS. I can not recommend this cafe enough. We had heard so much about it and they DIDN'T let us down. Thank you for a truly amazing experience.

Lovely cosy atmosphere with a funky twist. Friendly and funny staff. Cake and sweet treats were 10/10. Delicious looking food menu but we just had sweet treats and tea.

Pop over for a breakfast, it was very busy so will book next time. We did seats outside as the inside was fully booked . Was little cramped for 3 and very hot (August). The breakfast was outstanding, excellent quality, and delicious. Highly recommended.
