My children organised a surprise party for my birthday. I have been a regular visitor to the Toby since the mid 60s so I was delighted with their choice of venue. As usual the staff were very pleasant and extremely attentive. The menu was extensive and the meal was excellent. All in all a really excellent afternoon enjoyed by myself and my extended family.
Excellent food, Excellent staff. Very friendly. Always clean. Good value. 3 course sunday dinner for £21.95.
Some of the best service I've ever received. Every member of staff were incredible. We were there for a family funeral and all I can say they made it as easy as it could be.
The lady being the bar was incredible, the ladies who served us equally so.

Just returned from our family celebration of my dad’s 90th birthday. Everything was perfect . Everyone ordered different and not one complaint. The food was amazing and the staff !! Perfect afternoon. We will be back
This is an updated review after my visit last week, in which I wasn't very happy with the service or food.
David Wood, General Manager, took the time to contact me and invited me back again so that they could make amends and improve on our last visit.
I'm very happy to say that the service of all the staff was excellent, they were all very attentive. The food was excellent and they had taken into account my comments and made changes recommended.
The steak was cooked to perfection and the prawn salad looked lovely in it's crystal bowl.
I left the restaurant knowing that I will return.
