This a beautiful find within the Audley Retirement village (old YEB site) at Scarcroft - off the A58, before 'The Inn' at Scarcroft. This was our third evening visit and we were just as impressed this time as our first visit. What stands out? * Location and surroundings - stunning grounds (especially in summer), sympathetic deco to the buildings heritage and a general feeling of quality and luxury. * Staff - no snobbery, just nice friendly people who have time to chat and advise you. (From memory... Nicky, Shaun and Louise? + Plus chefs and bar/table staff). All Excellent. * Food / menu - simple and succinct dishes, that are done, very well. Excellent presentation. * Prices - very competitive. The drinks and wine list / selections are very good. Who would enjoy this venue? Those like us, who want to dress for the occasion! Those who would like special surroundings and treated like customers / guests should be. Its a great place for a special birthday, anniversary, romantic evening or just a treat!!! At the time of this review (July / Aug 2024) it's a quiet venue but I think that as the village takes up residents AND reviews like this hit the wider public, I'm sure it won't be so easy to reserve a table. We have visited many restaurants over six decades. The furnishings, decor, view and ambience at Thackeray's are amongst the best we have ever experienced. Importantly, of course, the food was excellent as was the service, and we highly recommend trying this restaurant.

We had afternoon tea which was very tasty made with quality ingredients. Waiting staff not very attentive, would have liked them to check if we needed more tea, water etc Internal furnishings, very nice. We sat at a window seat, and outside is very picturesque

So sorry I did not find this beautiful gem of a restaurant earlier. I enjoyed a lovely chilled lunch chatting with a friend. The food was tasty and fresh. Nice varied menu, I have already booked Sunday lunch with family for my Birthday. Absolutely loved the decor and ambience. Can't wait to bring other friends who would really appreciate this gorgeous restaurant. Definitely a recommend!

Just visited for the festive lunch. Beautiful turkey christmas dinner, and a lovely christmas pud for afters. Nicely full afterwards just with the 2 courses, but they do offer 3 courses if you can manage it. Would recommend, and will definitely return for afternoon tea, and lunch in the new year. Friendly, attentive staff.
