We came to the opposite cafe for a bite to eat and coffee - it is located in the middle of Chappel Allerton. We were able to sit outside in the courtyard and enjoy the coffee - which was smooth and served at the perfect temperature. I would reccomend the opposite cafe to anyone in the local area!

The best coffee in Leeds! Lovely, friendly, knowledgeable staff and a delicious selection of cakes and sandwiches. I love that it's both kid and dog friendly, good for those with dietary requirements, and the rotating batch brew is a great way to try new, interesting blends from roasters all over the UK. Cannot recommend this place enough

A Truly Fabulous Experience! I booked afternoon tea for my mum’s 70th birthday, and we were greeted with a warm welcome as soon as we arrived. We were seated downstairs to accommodate my elderly father, which was very thoughtful. The ability to customize the menu to our preferences was a lovely surprise, and the food was both beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. As an extra touch, my mum received a mini fondant with a candle, and we were each given a small chocolate box to take home. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish, and I hope to return again in the future. Thank you for making this special day even more memorable!

Betty's Cafe Tea Room in York is a must-visit for those seeking a truly memorable afternoon tea experience. The staff are incredibly attentive and accommodating, ensuring that every detail of your reservation is taken care of. The food is exquisite, with a wide variety of finger sandwiches, scones, and pastries. The ambiance is charming and elegant, making it the perfect setting for a leisurely afternoon. While it is a bit on the pricier side, it's definitely worth it for the quality of the food and service. I highly recommend making a group reservation well in advance to ensure you have a memorable experience. Note: Although it's always best to make a reservation, you may be able to walk in and get a table, especially if you're willing to wait a bit. It's worth trying your luck, especially during off-peak hours.

First time visiting as usually here the Q can go right around the side of the tea room. We only had to wait fifteen minutes to get in. When we got in we were waited on by very friendly and attentive staff. My mum has mobility issues and they were very attentive toward her and we were sat near the windows on the ground floor. We both had a fat rascal and a pot of tea, and it filled us up. Very reasonable prices if you’re on budget as well. A quaint thing to add to any trip to York. Highly recommend.

Live piano player add a rich feel to whole experience. They gave us chocolate coins as our post wedding anniversary gift which was very cute. Recommended.

Mrs Artha’s Café in Leeds is an absolute gem! From the moment you step inside, the beautiful industrial décor catches your eye a perfect blend of modern chic and rustic charm. The exposed brickwork, hanging lights, and tasteful furnishings create a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes you want to linger. My favourite spot for coffee and breakfast. Always of a high quality. I think it has the nicest decor compared to any other cafe in city center. Its lowly lit and relaxing. It's priced quite cheap for what it is. No frills, but friendly service which is perfect for me. This isnt America!

We had went to Mrs Atha's for breakfast, we were visiting Leeds from Nottingham. The food was so good, when I go back to Leeds will definitely return and will recommend to friends and family. Lovely food on the menu lots to choose from. The drinks we chose english breakfast tea and it was tea leaves it was so nice such a difference to using bags. Nice quite little restaurant 👌 😀

Breakfast was really nice! I had the french toast and it was delicious, the orange mascarpone made it very refreshing so it wasn't too sweet. The portion size was also huge. We also had the breakfast brioche, again very delicious but definitely recommend it with added bacon.

The food is fabulous, highly recommend the Turkish eggs and also the pastries. I would suggest asking for some of the pastries to be heated like spinach & feta or the chocolate, hazelnut and pear (they won't offer but will do upon request). Coffee is great, and service is rapid meaning you can stop before your train. Booking looks advisable as always busy.

Arrived, Leeds is a mission and half to drive to over Xmas. Breakfast with extra egg, amazing did look at the pancakes, but I'm having something like that for the dessert or sweet. Upstairs was packed. Will book a reservation in future. Spiced chocolate cake? I think.p

Incredible place! I wish I had a better photo of how it arrived! Honestly one of the best English breakfasts I have ever had. It is difficult to elevate a fry, but they managed. Mushroom with lemon and thyme, homemade beans, perfect poached eggs, great coffee. Seriously impressive place. Everyone else was really happy with the food as well. Service was fast and kind.

This is my first visit to this establishment, and I must say it has left a remarkable impression on me. Opting for breakfast here in the morning was undoubtedly the right choice. From the very first moment, the young and attentive staff ensured a warm and welcoming experience. The time spent here, combined with the unique atmosphere, is as exceptional as the food itself. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone who has yet to try the local cuisine – it is truly worth the visit.

Adorable mix & match vintage style crockery which I thought was adorable! Really lovely staff as well. I can't wait to go back and sample the rest of the menu. Rivers meet has varied menu including gluten free options, using local produce. My kids love it because they have free wifi and they can enjoy their tablet time along with their favourite rocky road cake and when accustomed to environment they would start chatting to other cafe visitors- my kids (9 and 11) always ask to go there. Friendly staff and other customers, really busy during lunch time. I love the vintage mix and match plates, tea pots and cups, the decor, the little craft shop and the event posters of craft clubs/meet ups.

I popped into this cafe for a coffee and cake after the Myrtle parkrun. Service was excellent. I ordered a flat white with oat milk and an extra shot (as I like a fairly strong coffee). The server was concerned it may be too strong so offered to make it with a standard double shot to try then I could add an extra shot if needed. Thank you. I also have the vegan carrot cake, it’s great there was a plant based option. If I’m ever in the area I would visit this cafe again.

Visited on the weekend with some friends. Was a little disappointed that the time we booked a table there were none available, however this was sorted quickly. The food took a little while to come but staff were apologetic about this. The food itself was delicious, great tasting and good value for money. I'd definitely visit again.

The vegan breakfast was excellent. Clearly made by someone who has put some thought into it rather than just offering the bare minimum - well seasoned scrambled tofu, good sausages, vegetables that worked really well, and of course hash browns and beans. So good. The vegan pistachio and carrot cake was also excellent.

Stopped in here on a sunny Saturday and the atmosphere was nice and chill with the full length window open. Staff are super friendly and really helpful. We ordered the samosas but as we got there close to closing, we were told the last ones left were not perfect and offered us them smashed and mixed with the sauces and veg as a chaat, it was amazing! The eggs and salmon tasted super fresh and the daal was delicious. Loved the fact that on the menu needs I told you about all the ingredients came from. And of course we could not leave out the amazing chocolate flapjack 🤤🤤 and great drinks. Will certainly be returning and recommending.

What a great place to eat! It’s warm, it’s cosy and the food is amazing! Our lunch of sandwiches was very tasty and the portions very generous. Good gf and vegetarian options on the very comprehensive menu. Close by there was a large party of people of all ages having the most sumptuous of meals with so many different cakes, pastries and sandwiches-a veritable feast! A nice touch was the arrival of my pot of tea together with an egg timer set to run out as the perfect brew point was reached. Lots of seating options including settees. I as Leo liked the idea of being able to order and pick up groceries. This is definitely somewhere that I will visit again; highly recommended!

We had a good meal here on a busy Saturday. We managed to get in for a table of four after the afternoon rush. We waited a little while for drinks to arrive, but the food came pretty quickly after that. We had a good mix of dishes between us from the crispy duck salad, pancakes, steak and eggs and a chicken burger. We all really enjoyed our food and thought the price was pretty reasonable too.

Been here a few times. Great place in town where the food has always been fantastic in my opinion. I would say the lunch menu options are slightly limited with not the greatest selection but across both breakfast or lunch there’s a lot of tasty food. Good vibe and design to the place with a quieter upstairs. Most importantly the service and staff were fantastic. Very friendly and helpful. Thanks

Fresh, delicious and beautifully presented. Simple and well decorated food. Not too fency food but just simple and fresh. They did great job in service. Polite and caring. Only down I felt - was a bit too expensive compared to the experience and the location + the prices are without VAT on the menu (pretty rare in the UK). Make sure you make some percentage extra on the bill.

Rating: 4.6 (657) Price Level:

First time today with my daughter. I must say the food truly exceeded my expectation. It was very busy at the time and we were told to wait outside with the outdoor heating on. We were given a table inside fairly quickly. Not many cafes would do Turkish eggs and I’ve tried this at 3 different cafes and by far House of Koko is by far the best. The bread came with it was thick and fluffy. We’ll definitely be back again!

Popped in for coffee, while I waited for my wife to have her eye operation, but ended up having a very nice breakfast indeed - it's not very often I'm in this neck of the woods living out York way, but with the wife going in for eye surgery at a local hospital and a wait of a couple of hours, no point in travel back home to turn round an come straight back. Thats why the coffee hunt, so glad I did - good strong coffee with a very nice eggs royale, on an english muffin. Spot on and service was excellent

Can tell they were excited about the new menu and for good reason. Can’t recommend it enough.
