Have had very positive experiences with this garage over the last few years. I first tried it out because of the very cheap MOT price I saw advertised, and was impressed by how quickly they did the MOT (it was ready by lunchtime), and by the great customer service. My car is quite old so we've had a few problems but every time I've taken it to them they've quoted me a good price and have done the work the same day. There have even been a couple times when they've fixed things for free - not saying this as something that should be expected, but rather it points to a business model that recognises the value of a positive relationship with a client rather than trying to get as much money as possible from them! They've definitely won my trust and return custom for as long as I live in London.

Took my 2016 Seat Leon FR Estate here for the MOT. Worn brake discs and pads were an advisory last year and were now a cause for failure of the MOT. Was advised on cost of replacement which was far less than I had been quoted by another local garage so I accepted and work went ahead. Car was ready SAME DAY and to my delight not only were the discs and pads replaced but the car had been cleaned, polished and vacuumed inside and with a shiny new MOT for another year. Price of replacement parts was fair and labour cost not excessive. Put that together with speed of service, the extra touch of an unexpected valet and an owner who explained everything in detail with a polite and courteous manner and you have a garage that will definitely get my return custom for the foreseeable future. Honest, knowledgeable, reliable and professional! Have used Southgate Motor Engineering for many years, for MOTs, services and other mechanical issues. Alex and team have always been knowledgeable, trustworthy and helpful. Communication is clear, possible solutions are explained with the costs, and pricing is always reasonable. Car is always returned clean, in good working order, and in the timescale expected. Really appreciate that Alex never suggests doing unnecessary work, and on more than one occasion has advised against an expensive fix, suggesting instead a simpler solution. Most recently I had an issue with my car making an intermittent noise. Alex patiently drove around in the car with me whilst I tried to replicate the noise. When I couldn’t get the car to make the noise, he and a colleague examined it on the ramp. They were able to identify the cause, which turned out to be a quick fix, which they did on the spot, with no charge. Really, really appreciate this level of professionalism, service and honesty.
