Whisk Coffee And Cake
5-7 School Ln, Walton, Wakefield WF2 6PQ, UK | Coffee Shop P: 01924 255047
Rating: 4.7 (83) Price Level:
Customer service is lacking in many places these days but not here at Whisk. We were blown away by the kindness of the lady who served us. We had a whinging baby and a toddler and 4 of us who couldn't decide . But nothing was too much trouble. It's a long time since I've been served with such kindness. And then the food. My panini was amazing and everyone loved what they had and we took a cake box home with us. The millionaires shortcake was the best I've ever tasted. We can't wait to go again

Brilliant service. Sandwiches cooked to perfection, and generous size. Spotless inside. Very welcoming staff. Let’s talk about the coffee…. You can’t leave this place without a cappuccino…

Best Latte I have ever had. Visited last Wednesday after walking the canals in Walton. The waitress was charming and could not do enough for you. We will certainly be returning.

We had a lovely lunch here. Fresh food, loads of flavour, great price and portions. The hot chocolate was one of the best we have had in a while.. and we took a couple of treats away for later

Called in on a Sunday morning after a long cycle ride to Wakefield to meet a friend. What a great set up! Fabulous breakfast, excellent value for money and service. I just wish you were closer to home!

I won’t lie, I’ve never ate here. However I can’t leave the house without seeing one of their cars out delivering. Gotta respect the graft. I have seen their cars every day this week around wakey, and one’s just come down my street. Must be something good going on there. Shoutout TLC

Marmalade on the Square
21 Bull Ring, Wakefield WF1 1HB, UK | Cafe P: 01924 200203
Rating: 4.6 (337) Price Level:
What an incredible delight afternoon tea at Marmalade on the Square was!! The words "unlimited tea" are like music to my ears so it was an easy choice to select this option. The difficult choice was which cake to include in the event, there are so many absolutely beautiful hand made cakes. You can really tell that somebody cares! We went for the nutella cookie cupcake (who makes cupcakes from cookie dough?.... a genius in my opinion 👏) and a slice of oreo cake, which kind of just tasted a bit like chocolate cake with more vanilla icing on it but hey, that's still a very very tasty cake! Service was very quick and they couldn't stand having people with luke warm tea, bringing fresh pots like clockwork keeping the whole experience top notch, nothing but respect for the attention to detail on all aspects. So what isn't so great.... we chose to sit next to a window and it was sunny, got a bit hot in my jumper. Erm, its really really hard to say what could have been better in honesty. Delightful venue, incredible service, free flowing tea and tasty treats. 😋 10/10 - a must!

Visited here with my three friends to celebrate the pending arrival of my little boy. We were treated so well, they’d popped us in a lovely quiet corner by the window upstairs. The food was absolutely delicious, wow, the cakes are amazing! Staff are so friendly, no wonder it’s always so busy here it’s an absolute gem of a place to visit in Wakefield.

You must stop here on your visit to Sandal Castle. The cafe has delicious food, drinks, great view of the castle ruins and excellent service by the friendly, helpful staff. Easy access from the castle ruins, the road or the car park. Full of history, the walls of the cafe are lined with boards telling you everything you need to know and about the 1460 Wakefield Battle! I highly recommend you drop in when you are in Wakefield.

This is the best cafe in Wakefield . Good homemade food fresh vegetable and lovely dessert. Sarah who owns it is a lovely lady will help anyone . The pensioner meals are lovely and a decent portion also you receive a dessert and cuppa include in the price . At least you know you have had a good meal when you go home . Lovely atmosphere and great if you don’t see a lot of people . We are all friendly .

Exceptional service straight off the bat. Very accommodating for dogs. Staff were amazing and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. The hot chocolate is the best I've had in ages. The food was delicious and definitely homemade. There was a slight mix-up with my order, but this was rectified. I had the omelette with chips, and Partner had beef burger with fries. Portion sizes were incredible, amazing value for money (see photos). Definitely recommend and will most certainly visit again! Thank you to the wonderful staff.
Rating: 5 / 5
The best cafe in Wakefield with a good selection of high quality home made food at a reasonable price. The atmosphere is welcoming and the staff are very friendly. It is a family run business and the staff and owners make you feel one of the family too. (No you don’t have to do the washing up). Specials for Senior citizens too are very tasty and so filling you may need a doggy bag. The only downside is that you may have to wait for a few minutes for a table because it’s so popular but it is well worth the wait.

Mocca Moocho
Yorkshire, 10 Cross Square, Wakefield WF1 1PH, UK | Cafe P: 01924 361755
Rating: 4.6 (476) Price Level:
Always great food, always great service. As a result it can get busy, but there's plenty of room upstairs too. Has a pleasant outside area that catches the sun nicely (when it decides to make an appearance - a rarity in Wakefield unfortunately). Thankfully it also has a lovely new awning to help keep the rain at bay.
Rating: 5 / 5
Had the best Carrot cake I've ever had there today. They also serve gorgeous bacon sandwiches on tiger bread 😋

Try and sit upstairs if you can. It's decked out with plants and really pretty. This place serves awesome food and drinks, and has a nice bustling vibe, without being too noisy or hectic.

The Boathouse Newmillerdam
County Park, Newmillerdam, Wakefield WF2 6PZ, UK | Cafe P: 01924 251810
Rating: 4.6 (548) Price Level:
Nice spot for a coffee or some lunch overlooking the water at the dam. Food looked quite good we just had a drink and a dog snack. They were very busy and there was quite a wait to be served and for drinks to come out.
Rating: 4 / 5
A Quick Stop at The Boathouse with A Mixed Experience! On a recent visit to Newmillerdam, we decided to stop by The Boathouse for a quick drink and some cake. The location of the establishment is certainly one of its biggest draws – situated right by the dam, it offers stunning views of the surrounding scenery. Upon arrival, we found the staff to be a bit rushed off their feet, understandably so as the sun was shining and the place was bustling with visitors. Despite this, they were still friendly and took our order efficiently. The drinks we ordered were tasty and hit the spot, but if I had one critique, it would be that they could have been a tad colder, as a warm Milkshake doesn’t go down that well. The cake selection looked delicious, and our choices did not disappoint. They were well-presented and satisfyingly indulgent, making for a pleasant treat during our outing. What truly makes The Boathouse Newmillerdam a great place to visit is its perfect positioning. With the dam right outside and picturesque views all around, it's an ideal spot to relax and take in the natural beauty of the area. Whether you're looking for a quick refreshment or a longer stay to soak in the beautiful views, the Boathouse Newmillerdam provides a delightful experience. Just be prepared for a bustling atmosphere and maybe a slight wait on a sunny day.

Stunning place!! I don’t write many reviews but I thought I had to share how great this place is. The food and drinks we had were spot on, reasonably priced and the staff were super friendly. We’ll definitely be calling in again soon.
Rating: 5 / 5
It's a great cafe in a gorgeous location. It's right on the waters edge and has outside seating also on the waters edge with no fence, I wonder if the servers ever fall in! The views are fabulous. The menu is quite large and includes vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options. The prices are reasonable and the food was delicious, especially the chocolate cake 😋. The service was fast and friendly. It is a popular place and there was a small queue, but I only waited around 5 minutes. Definitely worth the wait. There is a car park by the main road but then you have to walk around 5 minutes to the cafe. There is a path right round the lake which is around 2 miles, so great for a walk with the dogs, then a coffee and a snack, the cafe is pet friendly.

Time to kill near Wakefield Station. 2 minutes walk from overpriced Costa at the station etc.... Lovely Panini and staff that don't hover over you and leave you to yourself. Recommended.

A great cafe serving delicious food and drinks at low prices. Great value for money. Fast and friendly service. The menu has a large selection including a good selection of vegetarian and vegan options. The ingredients are locally sourced and all food is home-made.

A first-time visit to Create Café, and was very impressed. It's a bright, airy, colourful space. The menu is extensive, and good value for for money. The food is all freshly cooked to order, and tasty. The overall ethos is "Where good food and people matter". The café aims to help disadvantaged people by giving them working experience. Kudos to the co-founders/co-owners Shaun and James for this admirable venture which deserves every success.

Caffé Noor
Trinity Walk, Wakefield WF1 1QS, UK | Coffee Shop P: 01924 339276
Rating: 4.2 (384) Price Level:
Very nice coffee in Wakefield, especially near a shopping centre. Interior is the same layout really as the last cafe Nero that was there, but the decor is much better now. Staff are very friendly, very prompt to take your order and get it to you. Food is similar, but nothing to be moaned at. Lost one star for serving my croissant on a chipped plate, as all food and drink establishments should know chipped porcelain is a bacteria breeding ground and therefore disposed of.

First visit here with a friend who had been before. We only had coffee & sat outside after a walk around Newmillerdam, outdoor seating is rustic & comfy, service was friendly & my caramel latte was one of the nicest I've ever had. Would definitely visit again for coffee & maybe try the cakes/food next time.

We went to have a late breakfast the buffet was very appetising. A lovely atmosphere and the service was excellent.
Rating: 5 / 5
The place was busy on arrival, (popular) but we were seated straight away. Inside was cosy and clean. Service was fairly quick on ordering to receiving drinks and then our food. We ordered the toasted muffin bacon sausage and poached egg with bearnaise sauce. (See photos) It was spot on. Sausages were incredible, bacon was well done, Egg was cooked to perfection, and I was very impressed. We even got a scone with clotted cream and jam, which was also incredible. It is slightly pricier than other places we've been to, but you get what you pay for, even the drinks were decent sizes. If you're walking around NewMillerdam, I'd highly recommend having a pit stop here. 🤌
