Came here on a random Thursday evening and it was so nice and cosy! We sat in the restaurant part of the pub. The food was so yummy! I had steak & ale pie and i could eat it again and again. Fudge cake to finish, so yummy!

A bit of a hidden gem having driven past on numerous occasions I decided to give it a go. It didn't disappoint. A good sized menu available and the food (I did the steak pie for a main) was served hot and at a generous portion. The puds were also deliciously sweet and moreish! A great selection of beers on tap and a wide range of wines and spirits are also unavailable. Ample free off street parking makes this place one to return to very soon.

We went here for first time as discovered that it is recently under new ownership by people that ran a pub / restaurant that we loved a few years ago.....we were not disappointed at all. Very friendly welcome - great service and proper tasty home cooked food. Our starters of garlic mushrooms and spam fritters were delicious. Mains of lamb shank from Specials board and rib eye steak were equally as good...if not more so. Good portion size. We would have love a dessert but couldn't manage one...even between us. Great value....happy to recommend

Been going here for about 5 years now. Don't be put off by the outside this place is an absolute gem inside. Fantastic own made beers in some interesting flavours, staff really friendly and helpful, great outdoor seating area. They do beer festivals in summer which are fab and the quiz is always fun on a Wednesday! They do have a campervan parking out back but I have no further Info on that sorry!

We recently used the Village Pantry to prepare the food for a funeral (at another location). Their service was excellent - they prepared a wide range of sandwiches and cakes, which were set out on trays with lids so we just needed to remove the lids and everything was ready to go. The communications were great and the quality of the food was excellent. We would not hesitate to recommend them.

AMAZING atmosphere and service and food was divine. Everything was freshly made and tastes absolutely sensational. Staff are very attentive and helpful and extremely polite. 1000% recommend this to everyone and trust you will not regret it.

One of the best Sunday roasts we've ever had. Flat iron steak was cooked perfectly. We ordered one of every side dish between 2 of us. When it arrived we thought we'd massively overdone it. But it was all so tasty that we polished off the lot. No room for pudding though. Only small negative - it was very noisy and hard to have a conversation while we ate. This was mostly due to some unruly kids and inadequate parents on the next table, but that's not the fault of the restaurant. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.

I recently went for brunch at The Brooks in Brighouse and it was awesome. Right when you walk in, the place feels welcoming and cozy, making you feel right at home. The menu is packed with all sorts of yummy options. From the usual brunch goodies to some really unique dishes, there's something for everyone. I picked something off the menu that not only looked amazing but tasted incredible too. You could tell they used fresh ingredients because every bite was super flavorful. The staff at The Brooks were great as well. They were super friendly, always there when you needed them, and knew the menu inside out. They recommended some really good dishes and drinks that went perfectly with what we were in the mood for.The vibe of the place is just as cool. It's got a stylish yet laid-back decor, making it a perfect spot whether you're out for a casual brunch or celebrating something special. Plus, sitting outside on a nice day in Brighouse is pretty hard to beat. All in all, The Brooks is definitely a place I’d go back to and tell my friends about. If you’re looking for a solid brunch spot, this place should be on your list.

Being new to the area we were looking for a fish & chip supper on Friday night. We were delighted to find The Hippie Haddock was close by and although just about to close, our whole order was cooked fresh for us. I've been away from my home town for 6 years and I can safely say that was the best fish & chips I've had in all that time. I can highly recommend them and we look forward to becoming regulars here.

My local chippy. Whopping portions. Perfect crispy batter on the fish. Good chips. Only let down no original curry sauce. But that's just a me thing. Great service and a very fair price for the insane portions. And that's a good thing.

Fryer Tuck

Always brilliant, friendly staff, good food and great portions if you're a greedy pig...if not, get the kids portions, they're STILL bigger than the normal size from a regular chip shop. Prices have rocketed...£8.50 for small Fish & Chips, £10.50 for a large Fish & Chips. Portion sizes have gone down though

What a find this Chip Shop is, the Chips were cooked to perfection as was the Fish, that was fried to order and cooked in front of you all in beef dripping. Super tasty batter which was nice and crispy. The Specials are amazing value as was the Fish and Chips. And a special mention must go to the curry sauce which on a cold grey day lifted our spirits ! All served up by the super friendly owners, we will be revisiting Fryer Tucks when in the area at lunch time ! 2nd visit today and the food was just as good as our first visit ! Chips and curry with scraps yum yum !

Stumbled upon this plaice by missed hake when I was pout delivering... As someone who cannot pass a chippy I've never tried before without stopping and getting at least a portion of chips, I can honestly say these are the best fish and chips I've ever had in all the time I've been delivering in and around Yorkshire. Quality is bob-on and the portion size is what you would expect for the money you pay. So many good chippies in Yorkshire charge a lot for so little. Fish and chips are ridiculously priced now and when I buy them I want feeding and Fryer Tucks does that every time. Sadly I don't deliver round that area any more and nothing since has even come close to the food they served me. I look forward to the day I get to go there again. I just hope they're as good then as they've been. Oh by the way, lovely fella and his equally lovely Mrs runs the shop. Always polite and friendly service. Highly recommended.

Delicious Fish and Chips, cooked with beef dripping - huge portion sizes with crispy batter and tasty mushy peas on the side. Card payments are accepted (Visa and Mastercard only). Excellent value for money - we will be back the next time we're treating ourselves! UPDATE AUG-22: pleased to see that nothing has changed since we had fish and chips earlier in the year - still cooked to perfection, very generous portion sizes and quick service. If you want Fish and Chips in Lightcliffe / Hipperholme, this is the place to go.

The Cakery

Rating: 4.4 (271) Price Level:

Really great food and good value too. Our dirty fries, burger and nachos were fantastic You order at your desk with a QR code, we were told it would be 25 minutes but food arrived within 15: bonus! Staffing needs a bit more personality for a top place like this though. Although I've driven past this place many times, I didn't even know you could have a meal here because of the name. We went today to have a coffee and cake and it turns out they do proper food! Their cakes on display were basic, especially compared to the food menu. I think they're not helping themselves by calling their place "The Cakery".

Finally an excellent flat white!! The best coffee I’ve had in a long time - so many coffee shops don’t know how to make it properly. Also had a delicious bowl of granola. The cakes looked amazing, wish I’d left room for one! Lovely cafe with great atmosphere and super friendly staff. Will definitely be back!

An evening Christmas event of bauble decorating. Well thought out evening with as much, or as little, help and inspiration! Cannot thank the team enough for such a happy atmosphere, and finished product. Limitless paint and accessories so felt luxurious, we weren’t limited in any aspect. Add in warm and comfortable Cakery, festive music, perfect cakes. The Staff went above and beyond to make our evening memorable. Congratulations to the Cakery, couldn’t have been improved on.

This was not my first time visiting Kendals, I have been visiting since I was a little girl and I will be four decades old next month! However, it is the first time I have left a review. Visited today with my parents for breakfast - they both had small ones, I had large (been saving myself for it since I had tea at half 6 last night!) It was absolutely scrumptious, piping hot, perfect egg - firm white with runny yolk. Plenty toast and the coffee was gorgeous. Excellent value for dad's money (🤣 I was driving so dad footed the bill) I can also say it was spotlessly clea today as always. I have enjoyed many delicious ice creams here in the past too, was tempted today but didn't leave room after my brekky. See you again soon :-)

We have been going to Kendalls for some time now and absolutely love it. The food is top quality. Massive menu choice, really reasonably priced and fabulous service. Lovely ice cream available too with lots of choices. We bring our 89 year old Dad, and he is so looked after by all the team, so much so, he also visits on his own now too. Highly recommend it. Thank you
