Reviews
Hipster cafe in Peckham serving great coffee and light bites. The cheese toasties are fabulous!
My absolute favourite cafe in SE London. The coffee they roast is always amazing and I have also been very impressed by their guest beans. Everyone who works there are really friendly and have great product knowledge.
The coffee here is right up there with the very best in London. They have use a Mavam Mach 2 coffee machine for those who care - the coffee comes out perfect every time. Added bonus is the eye pleasing decor and aesthetically pleasing mugs for the coffee. Plus the service was very nice too. Cool place, nice vibes and most importantly - spectacular coffee!
I’ve heard a lot about Nola, so I had to visit and see for myself. The café boasts a lovely aesthetic with a modern and inviting design. However, the vibe could be improved—the music was far too loud and not the type that suits a relaxed café atmosphere.
As for the coffee, I had high expectations, especially after hearing about their impressive coffee machine. Unfortunately, the espresso I tried was a bit too acidic for my taste. Perhaps it would have been better with milk or as an Americano. On the other hand, the hot chocolate was exceptional. It’s clear they use high-quality cocoa flakes rather than powder, making it one of the best hot chocolates I’ve had in a while.
I also tried the grilled panini, which I had heard good things about. While they used at least two different types of flavorful cheese, there wasn’t enough to balance the thick sourdough bread, which ended up overpowering the sandwich. I opted not to add extras like kimchi, thinking the panini would be sufficient on its own, but in hindsight, more ingredients might have made it more enjoyable. Overall, I wouldn’t classify it as a great cheese panini, and I don’t think I’d order it again.
It’s worth noting that there’s no WiFi available, which I suppose aligns with their policy of making space for non-laptop users. This is an interesting model for a café, and I appreciate the concept. The prices are moderate, which is reasonable given the location in Peckham. The staff are quick and lovely, with some baristas even crafting beautiful latte art. The presentation of the drinks is consistently excellent.
A lot of people seem to love the cinnamon bun so if you’re unsure what to order, perhaps it will be a good choice.
I’ve been a few times to Nola, I really love their coffee and the vibe of the cafe. Staff is always super nice. I never had food there though so I can’t review on that!
