Cate is an excellent teacher for adults: patient, unpatronising, lively and witty. I have been having Spanish lessons with her for a few months and have made remarkable progress considering I started from scratch. The material she provides and way we are progressing is just right for an adult learner who comes at the learning in fits and bursts. As well as being erudite and a born linguist, Cate has a talent for meeting your needs with understanding and teaching pragmatic day-to-day constructions rather than school-book language. What can i say, I feel we have found the perfect tutor. Maths GCSE Chess Physics We had been struggling with our year 6 son for a couple of years as he has a natural aptitude for mathematics and was not getting any challenge from school and disengaging. Tom helped me so much when it came to understanding the true depth to biology as a subject . I would like to thank Tom for all the support he gave me during my A level Biology course. I achieved an A in my A level Biology exam. The A level Biology group lessons were very informative. Along with the information provided in the lesson, Tom used active recall to test us on our knowledge and engaged us in the lesson which deepened my understanding and retention of A level Biology concepts. Furthermore, when we answered long question types we would use an interactive whiteboard to answer the questions, and he would regularly check our work and provide areas of improvement for our answers. My son has been doing Maths at the Shirley Kumon centre for for about a year and a half. He feels his mental maths has got stronger and he is certainly ahead of his class. Kumon lays a strong foundation for the basics which are needed at every step. My son feels confident in calculations and Kumon has assessed him as 2 years ahead of the level for his age group. Maths is definitely his favourite subject. We have been to different Kumon centres, but this centre is by far the best. All the credit goes to the instructor Dr. Ivy Man, who is one of the best teachers we have met. She takes a keen interest in all her students. She is very dedicated and hardworking. I have had a progress meeting with her followed by a detailed report for my son and regular e-mail updates, which I have never had in any of the other centres. My son feels that she is very patient and answers all his questions and believe me, there is never a dearth of those in his mind! I strongly recommend St James' Park Kumon centre to all my friends.

My eldest has been doing Kumon for about two years now and I've seen a massive improvement in his abilities in both Maths and English. He went from someone that was average in Maths to one of the top students in his class at the moment. My son has been going to Whiteley Explore Learning for more than 2 years now and I could not speak more highly of it. A combination of SEND needs, unsuccessful home schooling during the pandemic and a need for my son to have more 121 support meant that I looked for private tutoring and was recommended Explore. At first my son was reluctant to attend, but now it's his special place and he's very happy to go. The staff are wonderful, incredibly supportive and adapt to his needs. If I find out my son is struggling with a topic at school, I let the team at Explore know and we work as a team to help improve his understanding of the topic, so that he grows in confidence and ultimately ability to tackle the topic. I particularly like the parents meetings, where I get more insight on my son's progress and abilities than I get at school's parents evenings. They can pinpoint which month of which school year your child is working at, which is so much more useful to know. I would like to extend a massive thank you to Aaron and his team for their support for my children. My girls had not completed the curriculum for Year 3 when they started Year 4, to my shock, when we joined Explore.
