We used Acorn Tutors upon numerous recommendations during the unfortunate COVID-19 lockdown of 2020. Once it was clear that the Year 6 SATS were not going ahead we utilised Tom's experience and professionalism for twice weekly Zoom lessons for our son in preparation for starting Year 7 at a new much larger secondary school. Tom's professionalism and 'buddy' approach chats really helped him, and ourselves, through a difficult and frustrating time. Whenever they finished their lessons our son was full of confidence and spoke very highly of his methods. Cate is an excellent teacher for adults: patient, unpatronising, lively and witty. I have been having Spanish lessons with her for a few months and have made remarkable progress considering I started from scratch. The material she provides and way we are progressing is just right for an adult learner who comes at the learning in fits and bursts. As well as being erudite and a born linguist, Cate has a talent for meeting your needs with understanding and teaching pragmatic day-to-day constructions rather than school-book language. I had a very positive experience at Winchester Kumon Centre, both as a Kumon student (throughout my primary and secondary school years) and later as an assistant working at the centre. The Kumon method helped me to develop specific maths and literacy skills, but also enabled me to develop independent study skills and a positive approach to learning. Working at the centre was also a valuable experience, and I enjoyed working as part of a friendly and competent team. I would definitely recommend the centre for students of any age or ability who want to pursue their personal learning goals.

Kumon has been a great investment into my children's (11 and 13) education over the last 2 years and Chen and the Kumon Winchester team provide exceptional service. We have been doing Maths and English and both children are now 1.5-2 years ahead of the school curriculum and very confident self-learners. The added benefit of English is the rich and diverse content they get to read and work with that expands their view of their knowledge on a daily basis. Through the pandemic Kumon provided the much needed stability in learning and the organisation of online lessons was exceptional, much better than school lessons. To this day, I appreciate the amount of data and insights we are provided about the children's progress and how exceptionally well-organised the study centres, events and communication are.

I cannot ask for more than a fantastic tutor. They are beautifully teaching my daughter what to expect in her year group. They know what to expect in SATS exams and teach accordingly. The tutor is adjusting according to our flexible time. I can ask them to teach if my child is weak in any topic and they are happy to teach over again.
