The Best Cafes in Coulsdon, Surrey, United Kingdom (2025)

Hi there, I'm posting today to recommend DD's Cafe based on the Chipstead Valley Road, Coulsdon. I am eating here 4 or 5 days a week (lunchtimes), the food is very tasty, and the Cottage Pie is to die for, and very reasonably priced. The young couple who run the establishment, are personable, run a clean, friendly cafe....a little gem.

A lovely spot in Coulsdon! The cafe has a charming, traditional ambiance that makes you feel at home right away. The owners are warm and welcoming, polite and genuinely friendly, which really adds to the experience. They serve good, honest food at very reasonable prices – no frills, just quality meals that hit the spot. Service is excellent, and you can tell they care about their customers. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a good cafe with a personal touch. This covers all your points and gives a potential customer a great sense of what to expect!

I like small businesses and use them a lot. I met Steve ( actual name is Sean but everyone e calls him Steve) the owner and his wife Chi (Clare) about 11 years ago. Regularly stop for a breakfast and cup of tea. I like tge little homely touches. I have brought in customers many times for them but not left a review as yet. I always go for the British menu but Sean does cook Chinese to. You will understand better when you get there. EASY, FRIENDLY AND ACCOMMODATING. If coming by car parking in Coulsdon a huge problem now as they built on the biggest one just around thr corner from DD cafe.

A great find! Delicious coffee roasted in the cafe / on site with cakes and sandwiches. Staff member was welcoming and knowledgeable about everything they sold and more! We will be back... worth the drive for us especially with nature reserve around the corner!

Absolutely lovely eating establishment, if in Coulsdon and feeling peckish get yourself down there, Stella nows her stuff the food is amazing friendly atmosphere what more could you ask for. Definitely going back ,see you soon Stella

My friend and I walked in today with our babies and Stella could not be more welcoming. She made sure we had enough space for the babies and was so considerate asking whether we wanted the door closed to make it warmer for them. We both had chicken gyros and it was delicious 🤤 there was so much flavour, i cleared the plate then ordered another to take home for my husband. He enjoyed it just as much as I did and I can’t actually believe I lived so close to the shop for all this time and never went in. I will definitely be back 😃

Amazing place, shop and food. Stella is great always friendly and does alot for the community - trick or treat for the kids at Halloween for example. A true gem to have in the community and we'll worth a visit.

Hired this venue for a private event. Staff were amazing, really helpful before and during the event. I ordered a grazing table there was more than enough food for everyone. Would definitely recommend.

What can I say other than this place is amazing! A real hidden gem, and one I want to keep secret so it doesn’t get overwhelmed; but also want to scream about to everyone because it’s so brilliant! Given it’s size, there aren’t huge numbers of tables and this isn’t somewhere you want to rush. I would highly recommend booking a table in advance - especially during the current restrictions. The decor is unique as a concept, all of the plants are for sale and there is also a selection of terrariums (which are beautifully made) along with pots and other small indoor gardening things which are for sale. They’re not cheap, but they are expertly made - a FAR cry from anything you’d see at the local garden centre. These are artisan level, seriously! Nestled in amongst all of this are the tables to sit at which gives a wonderful atmosphere. It could be throwing it down outside and you’d leave expecting it to be sunny and warm after you’ve spent any time in here. The staff and the owners are truly lovely people and the service is perfect. The food is simple, very reasonably priced and delicious - the perfect combination! They also had a lemon and orange cake when I went which was clearly homemade and tasted exceptionally good - and it was £3 a slice to boot! I left feeling happily full both in my stomach and my soul. There is an extensive wine list (all South African wines), and a couple of good non-alcoholic drinks options in addition to teas and coffees. There is NO doubt in my mind that I will be returning on a regular basis. Thank you!!

Lovely atmosphere, small friendly and the staff were a delight… as a non drinker it was great to sit in a wine bar enjoying a lovely hot chocolate whilst my friend sampled the wine!

It is a shame that lock down has prevented this shop and wine bar from being what it is meant to be; a great place to come and see people. At the moment it is a mixture between cafe, flower shop and wine shop. Given the current situation it is doing all of these things well, I just cant wait for it to reopen fully. Maybe by May? This is a good place to get take out coffee and croissants. Its not too expensive and the coffee is very good, smoother and hot. It is also a good place to get impressive house plants and pots. I really love the floating/hovering bonsai tree pots, and miniature Zen gardens. At last the wine, it is an 'amazing' South African wine shop. From Rickety Bridge to Chocolate Bar, you can find a bottle of red or white for any meal. They even sell organic certified brands. On a budget you can spend £7-8 or wanting to splash out they sell some premium bottles for £35+. The staff know what they are talking about and very willing to discuss flavours and tastes. As I this wine bar is perfect but not yet fulfilling its potential. When it is fully open you can book for a private party with a capacity of about 35. Or drop in for a 'lunch' and glass. I recommend it

Great little Italian cafe / deli. Nice range of Italian produce to eat in or take away. Service is excellent.

Antonio the owner is very pleasant and the coffee is high quality. You need to ask for what you want as there is no show case to choose.

I Calabresi is a charming Italian deli offering a wide selection of dried goods and sweet treats. We went for breakfast and whilst no breakfast is served, the coffee is decent and the staff is friendly. The interior could use a refresh, but the authentic Italian products make it worth a visit.

Went in as it was recommend to me for picky eaters. Brought 2 pizzas he said he could get them ready for 430... I come back at 430 and pizza is ready (not like those big shops that say a time and arnt ready) .. Lovley staff polite and helpful.. 2 picky children are over the moon with their pizza very tasty. Definitely taste its home made. Fluffy. And perfectly cooked... defo going to be going there regular.

Absolutely amazing place with every little detail ! Had early lunch here with my friend, and the food was really good, too ! Again, so much thought and detail was put into it. Vera, the owner is such a talented person who not only created this place with all the beauty and her products she also creates experience for every person who comes in! Visited for my friends birthday with a Hello Kitty theme, was so thrilled as she loves hello kitty so this option was super fun and unique! It was very nice and the decor was gorgeous. The staff were friendly and kind. We had a great time and would recommend for a cute birthday afternoon tea!

This place is everything you’d ever want. In fact i will go as far as to say it healed my inner child 😭 The atmosphere is super sweet and the food is absolutely delicious. All ingredients taste fresh and the staff are all amazing. The entire place radiates positive energy. Perfect spot to sit have a brunch and YAP! 🤍✨

We celebrated my daughters 6th birthday here using the private children’s afternoon tea, pamper and spa experience. I was nervous as this was my first time throwing a birthday party but they made me feel so at ease as I barely had to lift a finger. Vera and the team couldn’t be more accommodating, they catered for the children with egg and nut allergies with such yummy food which was much appreciated. My daughter and her friends had the most amazing time and I couldn’t recommend this place more!💗💗

Looked a nice place and thanks from Graveney cricket club to let us shelter in your cafe when a monsoon type rain storm hit mid afternoon last Saturday.

I have never been to this place before ! Tucked away in the hills. Very friendly staff at the pavilion, also very reasonable food and has a good variety of food to eat there in a pleasant atmosphere. Will visit again soon.

Excellent location for a lovely coffee and toastie, walked from the nearby Alderstead Heath Caravan Club site, going there again soon and looking forward to a visit to the café

Lovely little find in a very picturesque village.

Service and Atmosphere was great and so was the quality of the food and drinks. We had olives whilst we waited for pizza. The option is available to have pizza bread with olives. But I didn't see the point as we're going to have pizza. It would of been nice to be able to order some nice sliced bread with the olives. Menu was straight and not to over complicate. We enjoyed our meal I'm returning next week with the family.

Absolutely beautiful Pizza! I think this is the best I’ve had in a long time, and I’ve recently been to Pizza Pilgrims, Franca and many others in the UK. The service was welcoming, warm and friendly. The prices are so good. I can’t wait to go back.

I have eaten here several times and also gotten takeaway. By far the best pizza in Coulsdon and far beyond. Authentic food and service, with two Italian guys from Parma running the place. The restaurant itself is small and intimate with a very good ambiance. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. Even my wife who doesn't usually like pizza loves them!

Such a loving atmosphere, the service was so lovely and nice. We went on a Sunday around 4pm and it was so peaceful. Food and dessert were amazing. Best pizza I’ve ever had. The tiramisu was sooo delicious, best I’ve had. Would 1000% recommend. Prices were very affordable £13+ for a large pizza.

This is my favourite place in Old Coulsdon for coffee and a cake with friends. Dogs are welcome too and staff are very friendly. Wide ranging menu includes breakfast and brunch items as well as pizza. Toffee fudge cake I had on Tuesday was amazing and the carrot cake is fantastic too. Also always get a couple of items takeaway to enjoy the next day. Marvellous selection of Marshfields ice cream flavours. Loyalty scheme available too. It now has an on site loo and baby changing room.

This lovely family run business is a real asset to our area and local park. Amazing service, great coffee and the bacon rolls are the best. The park is well used by dog walkers and dogs are not only welcomed inside as well but they are made a fuss of and also catered for with water and snacks ❤️

Absolutely delightful cafe! My partner and I recently moved to the area, and visited for the first time today. We were greeted warmly by the owner (such a friendly man!) and his lovely family, and were served very professionally. The sandwiches and smoothies we had were extremely good - very clearly freshly made with proper ingredients. The owner told us that the brie they use is imported straight from France, and you can tell! This will definitely become our cafe of choice from now on, both for the quality of the food and the friendliness of the owners.

Great place for a coffee and snack. Food is excellent and the two gentlemen that run it have a real sense of humor. The place doesn't look fancy, but you will not be disappointed.

We visited Nonna Rosa's Cafe today with our whole family of 5. Ice coffee and small expresso are very aromatic, lovely. Our children love chocolate pastries and hot chocolate. I had a vegan cake, very tasty. We sat outside, enjoying the summer sun. I really like the paintings inside, they add a traditional, historical charm. Service is superb!

Amazing little find! Was on there area and drove past, decided to pop in! Coffee was really good and food was even better, simple, small menu, all home made and wanted to try everything!
