Rubes has been the addition to the high street we all needed - top quality coffee, exquisite menu, lovely atmosphere and supports local independent businesses. My husband and I have become regulars here and look forward to future supper clubs!
Mike and team are always super friendly and the food and coffee is presented with great care and everything we have tried has been amazing.
We love that the menu is small and changes frequently, whenever we see a new dish on the Instagram page we are eager to try it (the Christmas sandwich deserves a special shout out 👌🏽)
It’s become a popular place, and there’s always a real buzz there, it’s brilliant to see a local business thriving ☺️

Came for the first time. Order 2 decaf cappuccinos, poached egg, bacon sandwich, pastry. Would of ordered sausage roll but honestly it shocks me the way they are displayed , on the counter uncovered, everyone breathing all over, dogs inside the caffe too. Same as the pastries plz cover them or put in a display unit.
Our food arrived and we still waited for our cappuccino’s, it wasnt busy. But takeaway drinks being prioritised and the Barista was busy chatting with a friend. Finally got our capps 15mins after ordering. Unfortunately the capp was disappointing, great art but was a latte there was literally no foam. My photo is as the coffee was placed down. When the barista can see as he places the coffee that its wobbling etc this is not a Cappuccino and should be taken straight back and remade.
The food was nice, great sourdough. The poached egg was nice but a garnish would of made it better and also another slice of toast to mop up the eggs.
Bacon sarnie was very good nice bacon and filling.
The staff at till and serving where lovely, service 4 star due to the capp situation.
Will probably try again but as a coffee shop plz get your Cappucino correct, i def dont favour art over a well made cappucino!

Carshalton has been waiting years for third wave coffee and a modern take on brunch. Rubes opening has been a friendly outpost that feels like it’s been part of the neighbourhood for ages. Really friendly team, serious about coffee, and some really tasty Things on Toast (and sandwiches too).

Carshalton has many things going for it - lots of different pubs, serene parks, the river wandle, a sense of history. However what it has profoundly lacked is a decent Cafè/brunch space which focusses on quality of produce and service.

The emergence of Rubes has been an utter game changer to the area and has transformed my perception of what was a declining high street.

The food is excellent, the staff are very friendly, and the coffee is up there with the best across London - that is not hyperbole. You can feel the passion of the owner and staff that comes through the exciting, worldly food and coffee.

We attended the first of their in-demand “supper clubs” - a really cool concept which featured an excellent 5-course meal and a demonstration of technically highly skilled cooking. Looking at other reviews it is clear that I am not the only customer that appreciates the impact this business has had on the quality of life in Carshalton.

Proud to support this small, innovative local business and really hope it continues to grow and achieve success.

First time here and will definitely come back. Great to see a local business in the area. The place has a lovely atmosphere and very chilled. Latte was great and the sausage roll tasty.
