I found First Tutors online when looking for someone to show me how to use Microsoft Powerpoint. I must admit I have had a fantastic experience on their website. I contacted a number of tutors and all got back quite promptly. As a mature student I feared I may be laughed at however I had a fantastic experience with the tutor I chose in the end. I signed up with First Tutors a couple of months ago and got messages from prospective clients pretty much straight away. It's a really easy system to use, thorough checks are made and you have to supply references. I also like that contact details aren't shared until you've accepted a client and they have paid the release fee. It seems to be a really good system for both tutors and tutees.

Having struggled with tricky maths topics I decided it was time to get some private tuition. I wanted to pass my gcse maths so desperately - so I could go on to do my pgce. Therefore, I set out looking for the best tutor possible. I didn't have to search very far as I already followed Mr Mahmud on instagram. Thankfully, he agreed to tutor me! My worst fear was Algebra, but he helped me overcome this with his phenomenal teaching. I sat the gcse maths exam in November 2020 and received my results on 14th January 2021 - I passed! In a short span of time he was able to help prepare me for my exam. Honestly, I can not recommend him enough! He is simply amazing, and goes out of his way to ensure he leaves no stone unturned when it comes to your learning - you won't regret it.

Garry has been tutoring my daughter in the lead up to her GCSE's and my son for his end of year exams, and they have both found the sessions to be very useful, and Garry's approach has been excellent for both of them. There aren’t enough compliments for Rifat and her exceptional teaching skills. Her patience, perseverance and her obvious passion for teaching have transformed our son. He was taught English and Maths and there has been a phenomenal improvement in our son. There were times when he surprised both of us with his ability to solve difficult mathematical challenges using the skills he had been taught. He passed all of the independent school exams and we cannot thank Rifat enough for everything she has done over the last year.

My son was tutored by Christopher for eight months prior to the eleven plus exam. He was able to consolidate his knowledge in both maths and English, and fill in any gaps in his learning needed for this exam. Christopher also helped with strategies for verbal and nonverbal reasoning. Hari attended the exam preparation sessions, mock exams and some of the essay writing workshops. I can’t recommend Christopher highly enough. Hari was offered a place at his first choice Grammar school and was offered an academic scholarship at his first choice independent school. My younger son, with a very different learning method is now being tutored by Christopher and is thriving in his lessons. We are currently having online lessons with Christopher which are working extremely well. We first approached Christopher in February/March this year. After an initial assessment, our daughter commenced weekly lessons with one of the tutors (Jeremy). Jeremy was very approachable, friendly and our daughter got on very well with him from the outset. Jeremy was very good at explaining things and when my daughter was uncertain, she never felt uncomfortable telling him that she did not understand. Jeremy provided lots of papers to assist my daughter in preparing for the 11 plus and even she has said that the mock test (arranged by them) was helpful as she definitely felt less nervous about the actual exam. We received our daughters results yesterday and we’re so pleased that she had passed and not only did she get the required score for the school we had hoped, she also gained a enough to be considered by Altrincham Grammar. We can’t thank Christopher and Jeremy enough for their help and support and we would highly recommend them to anyone considering putting their child in for the 11 plus :)
