Looking for somewhere for some light refreshments before the drive home this doesn’t look like a place that would want to serve just a cup of tea. How wrong I was. Gilbert was more than happy to make a mug of tea and even had a chart to choose the colour of brew I would like. Then, because the bottle of wine was already open he upgraded my wife to a large glass at no extra charge. It was a pleasure to chat with such a charming and delightful fellow and it ended our lovely day out perfectly.
Such a lovely friendly experience. The scrambled eggs with smoked salmon were beautifully presented. Plenty of eggs at just the right temperature. We really enjoyed Gilberts of Whitstable and will definitely be back. Thanks for your wonderful service Gary!
I was paying a visit to my Mum who is staying at Whitstable House Care Home and came upon this fine looking eatery on the High Street… The menu is lush so many tasty sounding items… being a lover of all things gingery I went for the tuna sweetcorn mayo pickled ginger and cucumber baguette , mad sounding combo but utterly delicious. Mr Gilbert is a total Don offering up some of the most courteous service if have ever had the pleasure of. The two ladies in attendance were very charming also. MyM is likely to be in the care home for a while so it might be time to get some bigger sized trousers!
Took the dog for a long morning walk along the beach and stopped off for breakfast. It was superb. Scrambled egg, made by someone who knows how to make proper scrambled eggs, lovely bacon done just right. And excellent coffee, all served with a smile by lovely people. Recommend.
Not normally much you can say about a light snack, but this place really knows how to serve great food. We had a huffkin which was a first and delicious - really light - with a very generous and tasty filling. And my salt beef beigel with gherkins and mustard was perfect. The people who own or work here are super friendly and a big bonus is it's dog friendly. The food in the deli looks great too. Really recommend this place.
