This place lives up to it's name! Very small, quirky little pub. You feel like you have stepped back in time when you step through the door. Great selection of (local) Goachers beers plus other refreshments. A fantastic place to come for drinks and a chat.

What can I say that hasn’t already been said. A charming little pub. Delivers on what it says, a little gem. Service was great, something you’d never get in London. Knowledgeable and welcoming plus change from a tenner for two pints.. what more do you want?!

What a lovely little pub. Dating back some 900 years it may be small but full of character. The ground floor houses the bar and fireplace and wooden stairs lead to an upper floor which overlooks the bar below. Lots of small brewery beers and ciders are on offer here and I imagine that these change all the time. You won't find a jukebox, fruit machine or TV here, this is a traditional pub where people go to talk to each other over a drink the way it used to be. I found the customers to be friendly, within five minutes a couple had spoken to me They have a fish & chips night fortnightly from a mobile van that parks right outside. It looked good and I kind of wished I hadn't already eaten. There are a couple of tables at the front if you wish to sit outside. There are toilet facilities. Parking is around the back just a few minutes walk. Watch your head as you enter, people were not so tall hundreds of years ago!

Highly recommended pub, one of my favourites. Ancient building in lovely Aylesford that takes you back in time. Proper selection of traditional Ales from local brewery Goachers. Always a warm and friendly atmosphere!

The clue is in the name (little gem)! Great little pub serving tasty real ales. The staff and other punters were really friendly and chatty. Beer was cheap and as we were short on time we decided to do some takeouts. Beautiful spot to go for a day out along the river and stop for a pint.

Leah's Bistro

18 High St, Maidstone ME14 1HT, UK | Cafe
P: 01622 600123

Rating: 4.5 (552) Price Level:

We really enjoyed our experience today at Leah’s bistro. There’s a lot of choice on the menu, something for everyone, and everything is freshly made and cooked. We really enjoyed the food, it was delicious! Prices are really reasonable too - 2 adults, 2 kids - lunch (sandwich and panini, 2 x kids meals), drink and cake each, worked out at about £40. Definitely will come back. Staff are lovely as well, really friendly.

Update 2024 December Had a roast lunch which was promptly ordered and served by polite very hard working staff. It was plentiful in size but could have been heated a little more evenly, this was £12 there was an OAP option for £10 which was smaller apparently. I though the cheese cake a bit expensive for its size £3.95. Update 2023 Staff were friendly and patient. We had a roast lunch each which was served very hot, portion size were just adequate. They were amazingly quick at delivering our meal after order.

We have become regulars here over the past few weeks - the staff are friendly, kind and helpful, there is always a positive buzz whatever time of day you're here and the food is delicious. For fellow vegans and people who are gluten free, there are gf and vegan options available. Leah's has become our favourite place to visit at the weekend - If you haven't been to Leah's before, treat yourself!

A few years ago (different owners I believe), this place was not much to shout about. But now it's a regular breakfast venue for me and business colleagues. The service is always excellent, swift and welcoming. The coffee is very good and the food... well, we wouldn't go back if it wasn't great every time! Pictured is my beans on toast, which isn't actually on the menu but is never any trouble. My friend has the vege breakfast which he assures my is top notch.

Had a fantastic experience here. The food was great and of good quality. Portions were more than generous and especially for a kids roast. The atmosphere was very unexpected with someone playing the piano by the entrance. People working there were all very fun and bubbly to be around and engaged with the kids too.

Decided to try a regular ‘The Woodstock’ full english breakfast and a Cappuccino at the Woodstock Coffee Shop near Maidstone and really enjoyed my visit; the Sausage, Hash Brown, bacon and toast were all absolutely great and the lady who welcomed me was very friendly. It was a wet day when I visited but it looks as though the bifold doors can be opened when it is sunny or sit at one of the patio tables. Lots of parking too which was a bonus. Recommended!

Had heard good things about this cafe so stopped off for breakfast after an early morning appointment at Maidstone Hospital. From the moment we walked in we were struck by the friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Good choice of food and service was quick and efficient. Breakfast was very good and well presented. Coffee was great too. All good value for money. Will definitely be popping back here.

This place was a little hard to find at first, but I am glad I did. It is a lovely cafe with very polite and caring staff. A few good plant based and vegetarian options available with generous portion sizes. Although the food did not have any creative twists or flavours, you could tell it was made with care - it was quite simple and familiar instead. There is a pleasant view onto the fields and possibility to bring a not-too-big well-behaved dog. I will be coming back.

Arrived and collected at midday and out came a lovely box full of afternoon tea goodies. We were provided 3 sandwiches and 3 cakes each along with a scone, clotted cream and jam. All the food was super fresh and tasted amazing! Will definitely be ordering again, such great value. Thank you so much!

Rating: 4.7 (237) Price Level:

This was located off the high street. It was very eye-catching and felt very trendy. The customer service behind the counter was amazing. They were helpful with the orders and once they saw I had a child with me, they offered their babycino. It was cozy in front with a beautiful view of the high street but then if you wanted to go in and have a more private space with your family and friends, you could go into the additional space. It was a great place, definitely a must go.

The flat white coffee here is excellent - the coffee is full of flavour and the milk is foamed to a lovely consistency. I'm very fussy about the quality of my coffee, so it's really nice to find a local, independent café serving quality food & coffee. On both visits here, the cheese scone / cake was delicious. All the cakes look fabulous! The seating and atmosphere here is really lovely, with nice service and a very friendly vibe!

Visited for the first time for a late lunch. The friendliest 4 ladies serving! Lovey place with lots of different rooms. Tables, comfy armchairs, big sofas and a kids play section with ample toys and books. Food was lovely, felt v homecooked. Had a sausage and onion toastie, steak pie with mash and veg and the kids and spaghetti on toast. All reasonably priced. There’s also a big wooden play ground outside with a tree house. Big free car park at the back of the house just off Hall Road. Will be back!

Good little play corner for toddlers inside (and even my 5 and 7 year old girls). And outdoor playground provides them with entertainment too. I always recommend this place to people as a nice friendly cafe to go to.

Rating: 4.7 (272) Price Level:

We all had a lovely afternoon tea at Baskervilles Coffee House. The traditional tea had a good selection of savoury and sweet treats. The child's tea also had a good selection, having changed the sandwich fillings to known favourites. Our dog certainly enjoyed her afternoon tea too and it was great to be able to give her something designed for her instead of snuffling our sausage rolls. The staff were really happy, polite and chatty. This is a wonderful little coffee shop and a great place to visit if you want to sit with your dog.

Came here with my two dogs on the second day of the opening under the new owner. Love the decor. Dog bowls on the floor, free dog treats and tables and chairs outside with lovely throws to use. I had a really tasty jacket potato and a beautiful home made cake. Has a good selection of gluten free and vegan options of savoury and sweet items. Throughly recommend

A far cry from a truckers café, this local coffee house offers a cosy seating area with a modest menu. The interior is well decorated. There is a standard selection of hot items with a range of cakes that also cater to vegan requirements. Parking is easily found on the road, or it's a walk away for local residents who tend to come here and socialise in small groups. Prices are what you would expect.

This is one of the best restaurants in the area. It is super clean first of all they are so friendly and welcoming it’s really nice to see that. The food is fresh and amazing the decor is modern and I just can’t fault this place. The meals are slightly pricy compared to a restaurant chain, but this is Turkish fresh food and worth every penny! The portions are brilliant I couldn’t finish mine so I was able to take it home :)

The food is incredible as well, I can go on and on about how great the food is, especially the hummus (best I have ever had), but it is the service that keeps us coming back. This is an incredible restaurant with amazing food and top tier service. We will keep coming back!

Nice Turkish restaurant with friendly waitresses, lovely atmosphere / ambience and nice experience. The drinks were nice and tasted good. The food..... from the starter to main meals had platter options that are literally too much to finish at a sitting 😅. The Nan / Bread served with the starter was hot, succulent & delicious even without the cream. The seafood & meat grills that came with the main meals were well spiced and tasted really delicious too. *They have vegan options. Was a a good experience overall and strongly recommend 👌

Fantastic place to stop for coffee and a snack if out walking or mountain bike riding like I was today. Had a flat white - was excellent as was the sausage roll. This will now be my preferred mid ride stop for this route. Blankets available with outside seating so you can enjoy a coffee even on those chillier days. Stopped by again a few days after this review mid ride. Coffee and steak pasty excellent. Really pleasant place to rest for a while by the river. PS be sure to look out for the bold as brass Robin who likes to snack on cake crumbs etc! June 2022 update - seats and chairs upgraded - this place continues to impress!
