“My absolute go to coffee shop in Kent if I’m being completely honest. The staff are consistently polite and accommodating, the food and drinks are always top quality. This is the place to go, especially if you love speciality coffee and 11/10 service.”

I think I fell in love with this little cozy Coffee shop! The girls who worked there when we came were lovely. The place inside si small but a lot of natural light comes in so you don't really feel suffocated and there are outdoors benches and tiny tables. I took a Chai Latte and my boyfriend took a Long Black. We added a bag of coffee from their little shop, because it was a very interesting blend. The lady asked us if we wanted the beans grounded and then proceeded asking for what purpose was the coffee(to get the best grounding level). I found it very professional. The Chai is made with a mixed powder a little spiced. I usually don't take Chai when it's a powder because it comes out very sweet but this was one of the best Chai Latte I've ever had. So if you are like me, don't worry about taking this one, even if it's in powder!! The spices blended so well with the taste. And my partner was happy with the taste of his coffee too. Extra bonus for the aesthetic

Fringe and Ginge in Canterbury is a must-visit coffee shop that truly stands out. Their flat whites are smooth and velvety, with a perfect balance of espresso strength and creamy milk, while their mochas deliver a rich, chocolatey flavor that blends harmoniously with the coffee’s bold notes. Both drinks are topped with expert latte art, showcasing the baristas’ skill and attention to detail. The selection of bakery items is equally impressive, featuring freshly baked pastries, cakes, and other sweet treats that are hard to resist. Whether you’re in the mood for a buttery croissant or a decadent slice of cake, the quality is always top-notch. The staff contribute significantly to the café’s appeal. They’re super friendly, engaging, and incredibly efficient, managing the steady stream of customers with a smile. It’s easy to see why Fringe and Ginge is a local favorite—the place is often packed, creating a vibrant, bustling atmosphere. The only downside is the limited seating inside, which can fill up quickly, so it might be best to arrive early or grab a takeaway. Adding to its charm, the café is dog-friendly, welcoming four-legged companions with open arms. This small touch makes it a wonderful spot for dog owners looking to relax with a quality cup of coffee in a lively, community-oriented setting. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience some of the best coffee and baked goods Canterbury has to offer!

“Great new space for Canterbury with good food and a chill vibe. Once you get down into the basement there's a good amount of space and easy access to the bar. Good selection of games too so had a fun time trying something new with friends! Would definitely come back :)”

“My friend and I came to this place for a quick lunch. We both ordered a bacon and chicken toast and it tastes really good - probably some of the best toasts I’ve ever had in the UK. The breads are perfectly toasted and delicious - definitely a hidden gem. The price is quite reasonable too.”

“A nice, quiet, place to grab a coffee (and maybe a cake too) while in Canterbury. The staff are friendly & helpful, and the building has character. I had a coffee and a "sausage roll" (very nice, but the chicken tikka tasting pastry didn't seem much like a sausage roll to me). The venue is small. Initially, we went out to the back yard, but found that the room on the first floor was nicer (albeit warm on a summer's day).”

“Great places. The farm shop has lovely fresh produce & also stock cakes, cookies & treats. Next door is the butcher's, well worth a visit. You can either purchase from the counter for exact cuts & weights. Or if you are happy to buy in larger quantities, there are some amazing bargains to be had from the pre-packed items. Also available fresh cheeses, cooked meats & ready meals. Both are great shops.”

“Canterbury is brimming with history and charm, but sometimes a hungry tourist needs a good breakfast to fuel their adventures. That's where the Beano Cafe swoops in, saving the day with a breakfast spread that's as mighty as Dennis the Menace' scraper bike. My inner child did a little jig when I saw the name, and the menu did not disappoint. I opted for the classic English brekkie, and let me tell you, it was a full-on feast for a champion. The sausage were juicy and plump, they burst with flavour in every bite. The egg was cooked as expected, their golden yolks begging to be mopped up with the accompanying toast. The bacon added a salty touch, while the baked beans offered a welcome touch of sweetness. But the real surprise was the fried bread. Golden and fluffy on the inside, it had a satisfyingly crispy exterior. It was the perfect vessel for scooping up beans, mopping up egg yolk, or simply savoring on its own. The toast, perfectly toasted and generously buttered, provided a more traditional option for those who prefer a less adventurous approach. The Beano Cafe isn't just about the food. The entire experience is a delightful homage to the world of Beano comic books. From the quirky decor to the friendly staff who seem to have stepped straight out of the pages, it injects a playful energy into the breakfast routine. Whether you're a Beano enthusiast or simply looking for a hearty and delicious breakfast in Canterbury, the Beano Cafe is a must-visit. The food is fantastic, the atmosphere is fun, and it's the perfect way to start your day with a smile. Just be warned, this breakfast is fit for a hero, so come hungry!”

“I was really impressed with cafe solo. We went there for breakfast and I really couldn't fault the food - I wanted a good fry up and that's exactly what I got. The milkshake here is also some of the best I've had around Canterbury, actually made using ice cream with a dollop of cream on top. The only reason I haven't put 5 stars for the food is because it didn't wow me like my other 5 star reviews, but it was still very decent. The staff were super friendly but gave us the space we wanted to eat together, the space was clean, and we were even surprised with complimentary Turkish delight. Overall, would recommend. They have a small carpark, but there are supermarkets nearby.”

“Lovely cafe in the heart of Canterbury. The space inside is not a lot but there is a large covered terrace where it’s very pleasant to enjoy a meal or a drink. The food we ordered was nice, but the waiting time was quite long I would say (half an hour for some eggs). Nice cakes and teas too. I would stop again in a less busy day. Dog friendly.”

“It is a nice restaurant, I had the Christmas cracker burger with a beautiful fruit chutney and a lovely truffle jam in a bun with a fat juicy burger. It was delicious, service was decent and the waitress was lovely. Okay ish prices, definitely cheaper in spoons but it is better food here.”

The Moat Tea Rooms

“The Moat Tea Rooms is a wonderfully cozy spot, tucked away in a charming old crooked Tudor building that feels like stepping back in time. My visit here was a delightful experience. The quaint and intimate atmosphere, paired with the history radiating from the walls, makes it a perfect place to relax and enjoy a peaceful afternoon. We ordered Russian Caravan tea, which had a rich, smoky flavor that felt just right for the setting, alongside a smooth and comforting latte. Despite not being very hungry, we couldn’t resist sharing a slice of cherry and nut pie, which was a great choice. The pie was delicious, with the tartness of the cherries perfectly complemented by the crunch of the nuts. It was a small indulgence, more for the soul than the stomach, and it lifted our spirits on a quiet day. What stood out, besides the food and ambiance, was the warm and friendly staff. They were incredibly kind and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable. Their hospitality made us feel truly welcome, and it’s clear they take pride in creating a pleasant and relaxing environment for their guests. I highly recommend The Moat Tea Rooms for anyone looking to escape the bustle of daily life and soak in some historic charm. Whether you're there for a full meal or just a soothing cup of tea, it’s a lovely spot to unwind and treat yourself.”
