We had an electrical emergency at home and contacted Matty out of hours in a panic. He reassured us straight away and went out of his way to help. He quickly identified the problem, put a temporary fix in place to keep things safe, and came back to resolve it fully. Matty was reliable, efficient, and professional throughout. We wouldn’t hesitate to contact him again or recommend him to others—he’s the best electrician we’ve come across. Great service!

Samarkand

17-19 High St, Heckmondwike WF16 0JA, UK | Indian Restaurant

We love sammies. We’ve tried loads of local curry houses but always come back here as it’s the best one! The fish masala starter is beautiful, the salads are always fresh, the naan breads are the best around and the curries are super tasty with gorgeous large pieces of really top quality and perfectly cooked chicken. We particularly like the creamy chicken (my daughter’s fave) and the chicken and spinach karahi. Everything is always lovely, even down to the poppadoms and pickle tray 🤩 Staff are always really friendly and service is always excellent, they even gave us a lift up the road when the streets were full of black ice when we walked down for my birthday meal. Lovely and warm too which is always nice when the weather is cold outside!

On the back of some Google reviews, I took the family to this place for their signature dish - desi karahi. We ordered the family platter, Lahori fried fish, and meat samosa as starters. The mains were both the lamb and chicken karahis cooked in desi ghee. A biryani karahi was a side dish, and a medley of roghni naan and tandoori roti were the accompaniments. A cheeky jug of mango lassi washed it down For me, the fish was the standout starter closely followed by the chops. The others, while tasty, paled in comparison. The mains were the stars of the show delivering flavour and spice. The tandoori roti is the best accompaniment as the naan tempers the flavour profile. If I'm brutally honest. I prefer my karahi with a touch more salt and freshly chopped green chillies and ginger slivers to add zing. Best eaten direct from the karahi dish. Total cost £120 (£20 per person) Note, this place is yet another "Cash Only" establishment. It always makes me suspicious when I have to bank transfer money to a personal account.

Entrance is via stairs to the first floor. Parking available across the road. Food tastes good, service slightly slow but staff is very pleasant. Live qawali creates a nice atmosphere but can get a bit loud. However, we really enjoyed it. Baby changing facilities are not available. We were offered to change a nappy in the prayer room downstairs which I personally didn’t feel comfortable doing and it was quite cold downstairs. Overall it was a great experience and definitely would visit again.

We booked this place to hold my sister’s wedding dawat. We spoke to the owner and enquired about things that weren’t available at the restaurant initially. The owner managed to accommodated what we requested. This includes the stage, welcome drinks, centre pieces, dessert cart etc. The food on the day came quickly and was fresh and warm. Any left overs that they had were given to us. Everything was as done with honesty and integrity. All our guests enjoyed function and food. There were no complaints.

Literally the best grilled wings I’ve had in a long time! The quality and taste in the shawarma is also amazing. I’m not usually a fan of shawarma because lack of flavour but this place really does it for me! Especially in the shawarma loaded fries really hit the spot . Will be back! :)

The food here is incredible! Cooked to perfection with great flavors and spot-on marination, and the salad was refreshingly crisp. This place is truly a hidden gem. We picked up our order and were impressed by the clean, open-plan layout, showcasing a wide selection of meats. The charcoal grill added an authentic touch to the amazing Mediterranean cuisine. My kids loved it, and we enjoyed a lovely garden lunch. Kudos to the Esto team—keep up the great work!

Good food especially the wings. The sharwama wrap was average. Kebabs were ok not the best. White cream sauce was nice. Unfortunately was let down by poor slow service. Large chips box was only half full. Only two tables available for dine in so consider take out. CASH ONLY. HMC Approved.

ESTO’s is hands down the best spot for Middle Eastern food! I ordered the Chef’s Platter, and it was an absolute feast. It came loaded with everything—tender lamb chops, juicy donner, perfectly spiced shawarma, flavorful wings, grilled skewers and more! The sides were just as impressive with rice, crispy chips, warm naan, and a fresh salad to top it off. Every bite was bursting with authentic flavors, and the portions were huge. If you’re looking for a place that delivers on both quality and quantity, ESTOS is a must-try!

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights as a base to finish off our tour of all England's cathedrals. Thus we could easily reach Manchester, Blackburn, Bradford, Wakefield and Sheffield (and Derby on the way up). We were upgraded to a Superior room (209) up in an attic area. It was a lovely comfortable big room, although we did find the cold water a bit sporadic but the hot water made up for it. Full English breakfast, which we had, was really excellent - well cooked and presented. The continental was perhaps a bit more sparse. We ate in one evening and the quality of food was very good. There was plenty of parking, even on the Sunday early evening on arrival when the place was buzzing with Christmas guests. All was quiet in our room. The staff were friendly and helpful. This all added up to make it an enjoyable and memorable stay.

Meal with family was amazing ..fantastic quality and presentation as always . I have been coming here for a few years and always comment on the fantastic dining staff, today we had Ruby, what a fantastic asset she is to this hotel.. Ruby (as were the other staff) always smiling, very accommodating, professional and always assisted in our choices. Ruby spoke of her love of his place and how it has brought her out of being shy and now a very warm open confident waitress.. I also spoke with the the manager and congratulated her in her continued recruitment and staff selection as these staff members like Bobby and Ruby are the front face of his lovley dining experience ..

Tech-free pub that no longer serves food, so unfortunately we couldn’t stay (came out for lunch). However, what a stunning building, beautiful atmosphere and amazing welcome/service. If I were looking for a place to drink and chat today, this would be where I would come. Really nice acoustics, audiologist approved for those who struggle to hear. If you know, you know :-) Delighted to have found it, will be back!
