Bottom line: definitely go to this place for an authentic British pub experience. Reservations a couple days ahead of time are a good idea. There is very limited walk-in seating and it is very cramped. It is a couple short blocks from the Rotherhithe overground station. We were lucky to get a small table as a walk-in. We started with drinks - a Guinness for me and a Mayflower Scurvy Ale for my companion. The Guinness is well known, and the ale was just what you want from a local ale. For dinner I had the traditional steak pie and she had a seared tuna. Both were exceptional. For dessert we split the house specially of a Sticky Toffee Pudding which is sweet enough to trigger a room full of diabetic comas, but very delicious! The total bill including drinks and dessert was £66, and for the food, service and atmosphere I consider that a bargain. Will definitely go back!

We have enjoyed a Sunday roast with all the trimmings. Both the roast chicken and roast beef were cooked to perfection, vegetables still crunchy,and the Yorkshire pudding and gravy it was to die for. We have finished it with a creme brule. The Italian waiter was helpful and very knowledgeable about the food and drinks. We will definitely go back.

Great pub, great atmosphere in SE London. Stopped in here before going to see a local football team Fisher FC. Food is focused on all the pub classics, friendly staff and excellent service. Good deck area which was fairly warm during Winter. Recommended. For history buffs, especially those who love American Independence stories, this pub is a treat.

We came here for lunch on a Monday in December. We got the vegan sausages and mash, the quinoa salad and the fish and chips. They were all very good. The vegan sausages had a very nice taste with spices like rosemary and they already came with vegetables.

A stunning pub, so beautiful and old! The food is not cheap but totally worth it, we have tried starters, mains, Sunday roasts, desserts, they were all delicious! The service is personal but not overbearing, kudos to Erika for being a stellar professional

Why? Why do you have to be so far for me? 6,870 km to Stony Plain, AB, Canada. This could be my new spot. It has everything you want. Awesome food. Great service. And such a cool atmosphere! The French onion soup should be illegal. It’s to die for. We stayed around the corner, and walked down each night once we found it. So cool that it has live musicians as well! Thoroughly enjoyed, and now on my will return list. Thank you to the staff that made it enjoyable. Cheers!

This pub is beautiful, the facade is gorgeous and the inside has so much charm. I think the service could improve and food wise it was fine. It was busy when we got there and it got even busier after 30 minutes. I would recommend it!

I have been twice to this pub whilst staying in a nearby hotel and had excellent food and service both times. The food is delicious and so good to see independent home cooked food rather than chain pub food. My first visit I had Salt and Chilli Chicken as a starter (see picture) and it was really good and a decent size too. For my main I had the beef burger which in my excitement to eat it I forgot to take a picture! It was simply lovely. This week I had whitebait starter (see picture) and the Thai Green Chicken Curry with jasmine rice. Again I was too busy tucking into the superb curry before I realised I'd missed taking a photo again! The staff here are so friendly and I will enjoy chatting with them in the weeks/months ahead when working in London. Thanks to everyone for all their hard work and food so far. Can't wait to get back there next week and try something else on the menu (I will try to get a picture of the main course this time before I eat it!).

Had heard about this fabled pub and finally got to experience it. Did it live upto the hype surrounding it? Delighted to say, YES. Everything was as I like it, great ambience setting the mood, superb pint of pride, exquisite Thai food, attentive, friendly staff . All in all, a superb boozer. Can't wait for my next visit.

It is a lovely little hidden gem of a restaurant that I have viewed on many a family walk in the past. Very local to me, so I decided to book a bit of late birthday get together with a few friends after work on Friday..and I wasn't disappointed. From the beautiful food which stimulated all of my senses. ..to the charm and warmth of the owner Lawrence. It was a wonderful dining experience, a pleasant atmosphere, albeit very quiet that particular night. Amazing chef who spent time with us and is not just an excellent pastry 🥧 maker, but also an excellent host. The cheesecake, apple crumble, sticky toffee and cheese 🧀 board are sublime. One of the best dinners we've had in London! We enjoyed the Sunday roast lamb and turkey, and both were absolutely perfect! The flavors were so incredible that we couldn’t stop eating, even after we were completely full. The personal, local touch added so much warmth—we truly felt well cared for. Lovely local restaurant. We visited for a late Sunday lunch: the roast was delicious and we left after our leisurely meal feeling very well fed and happy. The nut roast and pork belly were excellent, with all the trimmings, and we finished off the meal with a properly good sticky toffee pudding. The service was particularly welcoming and warm, giving a homely yet professional atmosphere alongside the comforting and tasty food.

This delightful pub is one of London’s hidden gems. Absolutely amazing food!! The ribs are huge and delicious, and the steak is thick, juicy and tender. The staff are fantastic, friendly and helpful. The owner, Basia, makes you feel at home and you can see the place is run with love and care. I’d give it 6 starts if I could. I’ll be back…!

We popped in for brunch on Sunday. The sunshine made the space really. The food was acceptable, we settled on 6/10 rating. Service was friendly and (too) quick. I doubt that any brunch can be cooked in 5 minutes, and since it all arrived cold i assume a lot of it was pre prepared. I fou d the sausage tasting a bit odd in my Full english so had the rest which was fine. Bf gad the veggie version, he said that the halloumi wasn’t grilled properly so he didnt finish that. Hot chocolate was a bit too sweet for us but that is potentially our taste as we dont have sugar at home. The doughnut was good once we removed the sugar icing. Overall we will probably only be back for drinks and pastry. The space is huge both inside (about 30 tables) and out about 30 tables there too. It a nice space to do some work with a laptop, or have a quick coffee. it’s right by the Limehouse station (quick access from the c2c exit).

This lovely yurt cafe is run by a local charity who run a retreat centre next door. the atmosphere is very cosy, quiet and accommodating to laptop users mid-week. The selection of foods is quite simple, toasties and soups. Needless i liked the relaxed vibe and was able to work (there's a real fire during colder times) nice jazz music too. i opted for tomato soup, cappuccino and a kombucha. recommended as a cosy stop if passing by.

Beautiful setting and atmosphere, the yurt and canopy felt pretty magical. The staff were a little distant, but did allow me to charge my phone. The cake was sugary and pretty dry but I enjoyed my coffee and took in the sun.

A really lovely little cafe with a view of the Thames, and attached to a small city farm. The outdoor seething is nicely space, with beautiful surroundings. The space inside is a little on the small side, but it doesn’t matter, because the service is quick. The staff are friendly and patient, he explained the food when we asked questions. All the food is really fresh and looks so good, with generous portions. I got a bottled fruit juice that had carrot and ginger in, and the plain sausage roll, which was actually full of flavour, and good quality Cumberland type meat. The staff member accidentally knocked it and straight away grabbed a different sausage for me, without me having to even ask, immaculate hygiene and attention to detail, an extra bonus, if I could give 6 stars, I would. I was really tempted by the cakes, they had all my favourites. This is a great location for lunch, or to sit whilst waiting for a friend. It’s family friendly and there’s vegetarian options. I will be back again.

This is a delightful oasis in the hustle and bustle of London. As you walk there you begin to notice the quiet - then you turn the corner and you are faced with top notched baked goods coffee/tea. Very friendly service and a nice place to sit and unwind.

I am visiting London so perhaps this place is not a hidden jewel but I had to work a little too find the building as Google maps told me I had arrived prematurely and I had to read temporary signage that said the entrance was around but the river gate. I’m glad I did not give up because I walked in and was greeted with tons of beautiful pastries and menu offerings. I ordered a cappuccino with an extra shot and it was perfect! I sat at a little stool and enjoyed one of the best jelly donuts I’ve ever eaten as well as a bite of a delicious almond croissant and happiness washed over me while families came and went from the local farm where one can apparently see baby goats according to my neighboring stool mate. Highly recommend!!

I’ve always wanted to try this spot since I’ve been living in the area, and I finally had the chance. We only stopped by for drinks, a cheese platter, and dessert. While the food wasn’t particularly impressive, the overall vibe of the place was quite cozy and inviting. It’s the kind of spot that would be nice to unwind at if you’re a local, but I wouldn’t say it’s a must-visit for anything beyond convenience. The last time I visited the experience wasn’t great, they were understaffed, food arrived before our drinks, took over an hour for us to get any food and by that point we were done. However, we tried it again and everything was perfect - staff were friendly, food was delicious (and didn’t take long) and the atmosphere was far better. We will be returning!

Came in for a quick lunch and it was absolutely amazing from start to finish. The service is so welcoming and friendly but not full on. The food is absolutely gorgeous. We were explained that we had come between breakfast and lunch servings so there would be about 30 min wait. No issues, drinks arrived quickly we were offered nibbles whilst we waited, our order was taken and the food arrived very quick. The dishes were absolutely stunning, so fresh and tasty we wish we could have stayed for longer!

The only reason I have given this place a 5 star and not a 4 star is because of David. He was an absolute star. Normally in my tea I like a lot of milk and so I order half tea, half milk and he told me he'll give it to me separately.. but when hr brought it, he gave me 2 pots of milk and said he thought I might want extra milk 🥛 I was super happy with him reading between the lines and giving me what I want. His colleague Niko was very helpful and friendly too. Thanks both. Tea was decent, really massive pot!!! My friend's coffee was good too.

Updating my post 2025 great coffee, great service and awesome quality in every step of the process. Baristas are well trained, therefore it’s a consistently great cup of coffee every time. The cafe serves the best coffee at Canada Water. The stuff is incredible, they are always so friendly and nice, even if the cafe is too busy. There was an issue with people with laptops occupying all tables, especially in the morning, but a new laptop free policy works perfectly. The place itself has huge windows which makes it be a perfect place to read a book and enjoy the morning cup. Love it!

Occasionally passing by this cafe. Great environment and food is nice with this price. The staff is nice and friendly as well. I appreciate their hygiene as the staff will clean the table frequently with spray. Lastly, I have tried the honey latte and I would say it makes my day. Great job.

Two visits in a single day. Unexpectedly fresh, intense coffee at the underground station. The pastries looked so gorgeous that I picked two of them on my way back. Pastel de nata is one of the best I’ve had in the UK. Generous filling. Smooth, rich, creamy, not too sweet. (I’ve almost lost my appetite after the last few piggy days, but the wondrous custard revived me. 🥹) The almond croissant also appears beautiful in shape. Who can resist these layers? The filling is probably too sweet for me, but simply holding the giant croissant makes me happy. (The two ladies were really helpful and explained to me that the chia bowl was sweetened with syrup when I asked if it contained added sugar.) Will come back for the pastel de nata again and perhaps try other baked goods.
