I've visited this independent, family-run restaurant several times over the past few years and it never fails to impress me. The couple who run the restaurant and their team really try their best to provide great, friendly, professional service and absolutely delicious food every time. I cannot praise the atmosphere, service and food highly enough. I would definitely recommend.

Had a wonderful birthday lunch here and definitely recommend it! Lovely creamy carbonara and the cheesecake… that was the best Nutella cheesecake I’ve ever had ❤️ Also, big thank you to Jen and Jasmine for giving us the best table and looking after us on my special day.

Love this place. Food is excellent and fairly priced considering the quality. Great atmosphere and the staff are very friendly. Been twice in the last couple of weeks. If your in Stamford make sure you give Slanted door a try (but book first as they are always busy) See you again soon.

What a wonderful treat. Having remembered this place from a couple of years ago when I went for tapas with friends - I took my partner for a Saturday night dinner as a bit of a treat. We loved it. The food was wonderful, the service is great. The best cheesecake I’ve ever had! It’s such a little quirky place, easy parking and great atmosphere. We will definitely be back for those roast dinners!

We had such an amazing experience here. We were just about to leave Stamford because a lot of places seemed to stop serving food at around 2.30pm on Sunday and we spotted this place had a roof terrace and served roast dinner. It was a lovely day but we were the only ones on the cosy terrace. The service was so naturally friendly and attentive, the cocktails were great and the food was quick and delicious. The desserts were classic combinations but creative and delicious.

The Mad Turk
8-9 St Paul's St, Stamford PE9 2BE, UK | Turkish Restaurant P: 01780 238001
Rating: 4.6 (534) Price Level:
Pretty tasty Turkish food. Well presented and fresh. Service was efficient. Both the 1/2 chicken & swordfish were good. Chips and potatoes were tasty, not too oily.
Rating: 5 / 5
Not entirely obvious that this was the place we were looking for. We were met by super friendly staff and led through to the terrace/courtyard at the back. Complete contrast to the inside dining room. We had the vegetarian meze for two which was all delicious. We added whipped feta, salad and chips. Great selection for vegetarians and gives you a taste of what's on the menu. Came quite quickly bur we were there fairly early. Starting to fill up when we left just after 7.30pm.
Rating: 5 / 5
The restaurant is spacious, staff are very friendly and professional. I asked the staff their recommended food in the menu. It was very delicious comparing to London High end Turkish restaurant and I would say we ate them all emptied everything. I will be back again and lot of food choices.
Rating: 5 / 5
Beautiful food served fairly quickly. My meatballs starter was delicious as too was my wife's chicken shish main, served with fresh salad and lovely dips. I had the Ultimate Mangal which was delicious, all meats cooked perfectly. Service was excellent and my wife popped her nose into the garden and wished she had sat out there! Lovely experience in a lovely restaurant in a gorgeous town!

We sat in the small cosy historic bit at the front but there's a whole modern glass area at the back which makes you feel like you're sitting amongst Mediterranean ruins especially at night when it's all lit up. Food was really excellent. The lamb hot meze was absolutely delicious. Staff were fantastic especially as we left my mother's rollator behind in the street outside and they went out to get it and held onto it for us. Best Turkish and definitely best Baklava.

Wandering around Stamford wondering at the amazing aray of historic stone buildings I came across this slim fronted restaurant that opened up into a delightful Aladdin's Cave. It was a lovely day so sat in the slim outside eating area. Had a nice welcome, the menu was interesting and unusually for me I chose a vegetarian dish which was delicious but I didn't make a note of it's name. It was like a cheese pie encased in pastry on a mash of beetroot, spinach and potatoes with a pot of creamy melted cheese on the side. A deffinate call if I find myself again in Stamford.

We popped in for lunch yesterday. What a gem of a place. Old distillery, beautiful refurbished. We ate the Tapas and Chicken burger & fries which were absolutely delicious. We were served by Laura, who was really helpful and friendly. I was able to try a couple of ciders which was great. It's dog friendly too. Would highly recommend a visit.

Great place fantastic service and food, only downside are the portions are too big so remember don't over order on the sides, definitely recommend and will certainly be coming back sometime soon
Rating: 5 / 5
Decided to go on an spontaneous date with my boyfriend and as we really wanted a burger we decided to call in and see if they have tables available. We managed to book a table on a Saturday night and was seated immediately on our arrival. Food portions are huge especially the sides, fries in particular. Cocktail was great with 2 for 12£ offer, I thoroughly enjoyed piña colada. Plus, the atmosphere was very lively, cocktail bar atmosphere with great music and vibe, perfect for a Saturday night. Staff were very attentive and kept checking on us to see if we needed anything or asking about how the food is. Also, we didn’t manage to finish our meals, having ordered the signature burger they have, we ended up asking to take the rest of the food home. The staff was happy to wrap up the meals for us to take away.

We decided to have a meal at Zada before going to the corn exchange. We had a very warm and friendly welcome from the staff, they even gave us the seats at the window. The restaurant is so cosy with mosaic hanging lights, I could have sat there all night soaking up the abundance. Food was amazing, it was fresh, and full of flavour. The portions are a good size too. Will definitely be coming back, the staff are amazing. 🤩 Karen

Staff are friendly and accommodating. We had the Eggs Benny and El Diablo crumpet. The eggs were slightly overcooked but both meals were delicious and came with a free drink. A great treat if you fancy something different, but get your order in early as the crumpets are popular. Highly recommended

The food was nice and the staff were very pleasant. I fell down a couple of steps from the restaurant area down to the bar when leaving, thankfully 2 ladies caught me before I ended up on the floor, but I felt quite shaken up. I think there should be some visibility strips put on the edge of the steps which would help.

We had a table of 12 for Christmas lunch at this fabulous pub. The food was tasty, plentiful and cooked beautifully. The parsnip soup was delicious! The staff were wonderful, hardworking and attentive. This was the 2nd year running and it was even better this time. We will no doubt be booking up for 2025. Well done everyone for making our Christmas day! ( The grapefruit radler was gorgeous and I am hooked! )

Restaurant review: Being a fan of Caribbean cuisine, I was very intrigued to see goat curry on the menu, so naturally that's what I ordered... and it was beautiful! Tender, fall-off-the bone meat, perfectly seasoned, nice level of spice, cooked to perfection rice. Extremely impressed! My better half had the chili con carne, this was more akin to a stew (in the best way). Tender chunks of steak, that familiar, homely con carne flavour, complimented with jalapenos and tortillas. Lovely. In summary: Fantastically cooked "soul" food, generous cocktails, a laid back atmosphere and a welcoming and personal service has cemented Mama Liz's restaurant as one of my personal top spots in the area. PS. The local craft ale was an added bonus 👍
Rating: 5 / 5
If you want lots of comfort food on a limited budget, I recommend this place. The chicken is crispy and flavorful and the chili is fantastic.
Rating: 4 / 5
Called in for lunch so wasn't as busy as it is in the evenings. The Goat curry was very tasty and the corn bread was delicious. The chap behind the bar was welcoming and offered great service. The place could do with some airing out as it still smelt of the night before and the toilets need a little tlc too. Overall an enjoyable lunch with great food that offers something a little different in the area.
