Found this place when searching for a place to stop on route to our destination, just a couple of minutes of the main road this wonderful Cafe, and the chocolate orange cake is just exquisite. Highly recommend a stop if your nearby ☕🍰

I was 55 miles into a 100 mile cycle ride and in desperate need of cake and caffeine and a ride Marshall pointed me in the direction of this cafe. The young man serving me was lovely and took me through the cake selection. I settled on the Victoria sponge and an americano. The Victoria sponge was just the ticket and was genuinely perfect. The coffee was cracking too, I meant to ask what beans they use but forgot, certainly a stroke of luck to find this place on the route.

Very good food. The service is friendly and the chap who runs it and cooks the food always has a friendly word to say. The place is usually busy. It's like being at a friend's place for a meal. 10/10

Highly recommend. After a long journey we came in late, basically at closing. The staff were super friendly and took our order no problems. The pizza was delicious, best we have had for a while. Throughly enjoyed.

Excellent food as usual. Always caters for my daughters allergies. Friendly staff & always accurate with timescale if busy. The food is worth the wait at those times. Our go to for pizza

Update June 2023 what can I say? An excellent Sunday lunch again with a pint. Banana cheesecake was sublime. Love the cauliflower side dish. If you're in the area you should check out the Sunday lunch for sure. -------- Update DEC 2022 a great Sunday lunch yet again, this time with a glass of red wine! -------- Update SEP 2022 another Sunday lunch, just as good as I described before. Tasty and well home cooked. See the photo! -------- May 2021 Absolutely fantastic Sunday lunch here today. Well cooked, tasty and more than enough. Dessert was equally good, I can recommend the tiramisu. Friendly and efficient service to top it off. We've only moved into the area recently, and we'll be back for sure.

Unbelievable tradition pub! Really friendly staff and the landlord is a smashing bloke! The ales are great and the Sunday roast are delicious, I would highly recommend this family friendly establishment to anybody.

How awesome is this pub!!! 2 Australians with a need to taste the local beer on tap, this place opened their arms wide to welcome us in and make us feel at home. Bonus of the night was joining in the quiz with Sid and Robert, run by legend Sam, we had a fabulous evening. Thanks to the Nags Head crew and the Heckington community for making us feel a part of it. 5 stars.

I swear the Steak & Ale pie is the best pie I’ve ever encountered - mind boggling in proportion, it’s a meal in its own right… and then you add in lovely mash and decent veg. Stopped for a family lunch for seven of us and not one bit of food failed to exceed expectations; the brisket burgers are massive, the pies amazing, even the sandwiches are great…. £145 for seven adult meals, drinks and a few desserts is amazing value. Lovely staff who were really attentive. If we’re over this way again it’s definitely getting another visit

We were recommended to eat at the Royal Oak and we were not disappointed. From calling to book a table, greeting, knowledge and friendliness of staff was exceptional. The food was really well presented and tasted amazing. Fish and Chips, Hunters Chicken and the Steak Pie was outstanding !! Thank you , we will be back.

Visited this place very recently and as a vegan, was pleasantly surprised at the choices available. Very nice, welcoming staff who were so great at accommodating me with a 'veganised' chocolate fudge cake for dessert. Nice atmosphere as well. Would definitely visit again.

Staff were very pleasant, & efficientIt. It was midweek lunchtime, and not busy, so without enough people to feel a buzz, but still a great place to be.The best fillet steak I’ve had for some time. My Daughter loved her Duck too, just too good not to go again! More than worth repeat visits, looking forward to them.

Quite a difficult review this one. Food was great, service was great, location was great, atmosphere was great, so why the difficulty? Three of us went for a mid week meal, and the total came to just short of £100. Individually the food didn't seem expensive (ribs £20, mixed grill £22) but 3 mains, 2 dessert and a couple of soft drinks each and a tip and it was just over £100 which just seems a lot for a reasonably normal meal out. Maybe that's a reflection of where we are now with the cost of food, energy, wages etc. but clearly it's going to put people off going out for a meal.

Went in with my family and our dog after seeing the Watergate Yard on 'Four in a Bed' for Sunday Brunch. We shared the Ultimate Breakfast and it was absolutely delicious, the pup loved his chicken off the dog menu as well. Great atmosphere, great service, reasonable beer selection. Overall, fantastic. Can't wait to return!

Love the quirky room we had overlooking the yard. Especially love the tiny fridge with bottled water and fresh milk for the tea and coffee as I have a pet hate of UHT. What a brilliant idea. The English Breakfast was tasty, ample and prompt and the staff lovely and friendly. Definitely recommend a stay here.

Always TOP notch fish and chips from Ruby's Plaice! It's our Friday evening treat. When it's fine weather we can choose one of the picnic tables and eat there. Chips are perfect as is the fish, and good portions too, served in a handy shallow box...much better than paper. The best fish and chips for miles around, I'd say!

Me and the wife stopped here for Lunch today after a nice ride on the bike in the Fens. Sitting in the sun eating absolutely quality Fish Chips and a side. We chose their fantastic and great value Lunchtime meal deals and we both absolutely though that the quality and freshness of the fish and chips was the best we have ever had for many a year. Bloomin lovely and tasty, crisp lovely batter and very good fish postions. The chips were perfect too. Thank you, we will be back.

Called in for lunch today. Fast efficient service from Kevin, who was very helpful and friendly. We sat in the conservatory. Hubby chose from the main menu, pan fried scallops with cauliflower sides followed by trout with Jersey royals peas and asparagus. I went for the lunch for less menu. Scampi then chicken chorizo and bean cassoulet. Cannot fault a thing. All served piping hot, presented nicely and delicious to eat. Background music was easy to listen to. All in all a very pleasurable experience. If we are ever travelling that way again, we will make a point of calling in.

Went for a early evening meal and both had parfait to start which was amazing, great flavour and enough bread for the portion size. I had fish and chips a great pub classic and my other sausage and mash. Not a fault to pick, very tasty and well cooked. Staff very friendly and easy parking. Looking forward to going to the quiz when we can make it.

My first visit for a quick snack at lunch and it was absolutely brilliant, one of the best burgers I have ever had 🥰 I assumed (wrongly) that it was only gourmet meals but there is also a lunch menu or just drinks if you prefer. With several different areas including an outdoor area, there is a great selection of places to eat and drink. The burger was a lamb burger and the addition of the goats cheese is absolutely genius 😍 I will definetly be returning and definitely highly recommend 😍

What a fantastic day out we had will definitely go again. Loads of trade stalls food stalls, great to see the sheep cows and horses

Fantastic weekend. Loved all the animals. Bought a brilliant new hat and a garden ornament. Food is a bit pricey. Hot tip, bring your own cold drinks.

Fantastic show this year. Many interesting artisan and craft stalls, great exhibitions of local children's craft work, homemade cakes and art work. Some worthy winners. The adult exhibitions of flowers, veg, crafts and photography was also very interesting. We loved the arena events of cycling and the heavy horse parade. The concert in the evening featuring no less than four acts was exceptional, the Madness tribute band 'Gladness',was one of the best we have seen. The evening culminated in a brilliant firework display. Well done to everyone involved in organising the event.

We went here on Sunday for the afternoon with our son and we absolutely loved it. There was so much choice of things to see and do. An absolutely brilliant day out and would defiantly recommend it. It was spaced out really well and wasn't too crowded. Lots of car parking and Marshall's to help with the parking. A very well organized event. 😊
